We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Data Factory itself is great. It's pretty straightforward. You can easily add sources, join and lookup information, etc. The ease of use is pretty good.""Data Factory's best features include its data source connections, GUI for building data pipelines, and target loading within Azure.""It's cloud-based, allowing multiple users to easily access the solution from the office or remote locations. I like that we can set up the security protocols for IP addresses, like allow lists. It's a pretty user-friendly product as well. The interface and build environment where you create pipelines are easy to use. It's straightforward to manage the digital transformation pipelines we build.""Azure Data Factory's most valuable features are the packages and the data transformation that it allows us to do, which is more drag and drop, or a visual interface. So, that eases the entire process.""ADF is another ETL tool similar to Informatica that can transform data or copy it from on-prem to the cloud or vice versa. Once we have the data, we can apply various transformations to it and schedule our pipeline according to our business needs. ADF integrates with Databricks. We can call our Databricks notebooks and schedule them via ADF.""I like that it's a monolithic data platform. This is why we propose these solutions.""Microsoft supported us when we planned to provision Azure Data Factory over a private link. As a result, we received excellent support from Microsoft.""We have been using drivers to connect to various data sets and consume data."

"The data transformation is the solution's most valuable feature.""Provides a significant amount of control over the landscape and overall implementation.""Overall, it's a good tool. It's currently number one on the market. It pretty much has all the necessary capabilities to pull the incremental data from the source system, technically speaking.""From the product feature or product capability perspective, the aspects around integration, transformation, and standardization are valuable. It's fairly easy to use. It has a GUI-based interface.""This product is easy to install and it can be done in a few hours.""The scalability is excellent.""The product’s flexibility is valuable.""The agentless RCDC enablement through PowerExchange is a great idea and has worked very well so far."

Cons
"I rate Azure Data Factory six out of 10 for stability. ADF is stable now, but we had problems recently with indexing on an SQL database. It's slow when dealing with a huge volume of data. It depends on whether the database is configured as general purpose or hyperscale.""There's no Oracle connector if you want to do transformation using data flow activity, so Azure Data Factory needs more connectors for data flow transformation.""Occasionally, there are problems within Microsoft itself that impacts the Data Factory and causes it to fail.""When the record fails, it's tough to identify and log.""Data Factory would be improved if it were a little more configuration-oriented and not so code-oriented and if it had more automated features.""Data Factory could be improved in terms of data transformations by adding more metadata extractions.""Snowflake connectivity was recently added and if the vendor provided some videos on how to create data then that would be helpful.""The need to work more on developing out-of-the-box connectors for other products like Oracle, AWS, and others."

More Azure Data Factory Cons →

"V10.2 is very stable, but we are still struggling to make V10.5 stable. We found services that were down, and PowerExchange stopped working.""Real-time has not been enhanced that much over the past few years. There has not been as many features added like they did before.""Technical support can be improved with respect to delays in ticket response time.""The connectivity with T24 core banking could be improved.""They should make it quick and easy for use of citizen data integration or for people or integrators developing at the customer side. They could be development teams within the business team. For them, the product owners can consider making it a little bit more seamless and a little bit more democratized.""The one place where it could be improved is definitely pricing. That's a very big problem. It depends product to product, but pricing is an issue.""Informatica is very expensive in all aspects, so the pricing is something that could be improved.""The solution needs better integration with other tools."

  • "Understanding the pricing model for Data Factory is quite complex."
