We performed a comparison between Azure Data Factory and Teradata based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Data Warehouse solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Data Factory's most valuable feature is Copy Activity."
"The function of the solution is great."
"We use the solution to move data from on-premises to the cloud."
"I am one hundred percent happy with the stability."
"Data Factory's best feature is the ease of setting up pipelines for data and cloud integrations."
"The data factory agent is quite good and programming or defining the value of jobs, processes, and activities is easy."
"I like its integration with SQL pools, its ability to work with Databricks, its pipelines, and the serverless architecture are the most effective features."
"The most valuable feature of this solution would be ease of use."
"It's very mature from a technology perspective."
"The key advantages are Performance when processing Terabytes of data and scalability."
"The performance is great, we are able to query our data in one operation."
"The functionality of the solution is excellent."
"Teradata features high productivity and reliability because it has several redundancy options, so the system is always up and running."
"We did performance testing. We had a set of real life MicroStrategy reports. Our conditions were: Not allowed to redesign data model, not allowed to rewrite the queries, all queries should be generated by MicroStrategy, no aggregates. Teradata appeared to be way faster than a similarly configured (in terms of hardware) Oracle server."
"When it comes to integration, tools like Informatica seamlessly connect with Teradata. We ensure the Teradata database is configured correctly in Informatica, including the proper hostname and properties for the load process. We didn't find any major complexity or issues with integration."
"Parallel processing features have helped to easily dump any size of data and retrieve data with great performance."
"My only problem is the seamless connectivity with various other databases, for example, SAP."
"User-friendliness and user effectiveness are unquestionably important, and it may be a good option here to improve the user experience. However, I believe that more and more sophisticated monitoring would be beneficial."
"You cannot use a custom data delimiter, which means that you have problems receiving data in certain formats."
"Currently, our company requires a monitoring tool, and that isn't available in Azure Data Factory."
"Data Factory would be improved if it were a little more configuration-oriented and not so code-oriented and if it had more automated features."
"It would be better if it had machine learning capabilities."
"In the next release, it's important that some sort of scheduler for running tasks is added."
"The product could provide more ways to import and export data."
"The current operational approach needs improvement."
"Teradata's pricing is quite high compared to Redshift, Synapse, or GCP alternatives."
"Teradata's UI could be improved."
"Since I was working on the very basic, legacy systems, the memory thing was always a challenge. If Teradata is moving to the cloud, the space constraint or the memory issue that my company generally faces will eventually resolve, in time. What I'd like to see in the next release of Teradata is that it becomes full-fledged on the cloud, apart from better connectivity to various systems. For example, if I have to read or include a Python script, if I write some basic codes, I should be able to read even unstructured data. I know that it's not supported even in Snowflake, but at least semi-structured data support, if that can be a little more enhanced, that would be good."
"Apart from Control-M, it would be nice if it could integrate with other tools."
"It could use some more advanced analytics relating to structured and semi-structured data."
"The user interface needs to be improved."
"Sometimes the large injestion takes days to load data, and some of our stored procedures take two to three days."
