We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is a very helpful solution.""The biggest thing for us is enforcing logins only from devices that are managed by Intune.""The device profiling which uses the official Outlook email enabled us to control the screenshot feature and prevent copying outside of the organization's application.""For Windows services, there are multiple options within Intune to modernize it to be more internet-facing and dynamic.""It is helpful for managing devices anytime and any place without requiring dependency on the local networks.""The ability to manage devices with different sets of policies is most valuable.""Intune device restriction policies enable me to enforce limitations on the device, like blocking the mobile camera or restricting the employees from using and inserting USB devices, including thumb drives and flash drives.""It's really easy to access."

"Servers are patched more consistently than they have been previously.""The best feature of BigFix is its multi-platform support.""It has plugins development options, which are great.""It is a one-stop tool that allows you to do everything. It supports reporting, vulnerability management, patch management, and configuration. All things can be done in one tool.""The patch management and the BigFix Inventory have been the most valuable features.""We are able to use BigFix through API connections to automate and reduce resources and time. The product's been great for us. It's increased the security posture ten-fold and it's increased our visibility across our endpoints enormously.""It allows for visibility into the OT, the industrial environments, that didn't exist before which is a big piece and has benefited my organization. Second, the speed at which people can patch is night and day versus SCCM scan or another similar solution.""Between the user groups, the community, the AVP support, the direct access via technical route and the PMR support, half the time I don't even need to do a formal PMR because the solutions from the community resolve whatever issues we're having. It's the best community and support based system I've ever used."

"vCenter has some good user experience, and the initial setup is straightforward.""Beneficial patch management and template features.""The product's initial setup process is very simple.""It is a very stable solution.""vCenter Configuration Manager is a very good product, it works well.""The tool's scalability is good and easy, especially when compared to Microsoft Hyper-V.""We can scale the solution as needed.""Reliable, stable and scalable."

Cons
"Areas for improvement in Intune include expanding support beyond Samsung devices to accommodate other Android manufacturers like Redmi and Motorola.""It's the granularity: 'Is your firewall on? Is BitLocker on?' It's not amazing granularity. But I've looked into other products, like Duo, and they're all similar.""I have a lot of Apple products in my environment. It would be nice to have an improved integration of Apple products with Microsoft Intune without Jam.""There is no catalog for mobile access management (MAM) security.""Cost is the biggest factor for us right now. Microsoft Intune and AD P1 together in a bundle is a good thing to have, but it is very costly compared to other products in the market. Otherwise, Microsoft Intune is the best.""We faced issues with macOS support. The product should have better inventory and asset management.""The backend of Microsoft Intune needs to be improved. We have seen a little bit of delay as compared to other MDM solutions. That needs to be improved. A little bit more granularity should also be added""The UI is not user-friendly and has room for improvement."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"The stability is generally pretty good. The one thing that we came across is the battle between load on endpoints and load on our servers and relays versus how quickly, effectively and reliably actions can be taken. I'd like to not have to take an action on a system while I'm working with someone and then have to say whether something will happen between five seconds or thirty minutes from that point.""The solution should have some kind of a local caching methodology, where the patches can be taken locally into a localized relay server, and from there, the patch can be applied, so that there is not much usage of the network required.""Maybe the online help could be improved. It'd be nice if you would have a lot more phrases and keywords that you could search for and find answers with the help.""I would like to see for it to be a little easier for new users to be able to learn and create relevant statements. In my opinion, that's the hardest part for bringing on new people that haven't had BigFix experience. Being able to have easier ways to build relevance in ActionScript would be the biggest improvement I'd like to see.""The product should become cloud-based. Also, the peer nesting ability of the product is a little backward.""I'm looking for them to make big web UI improvements.""I want to see a solution for being able to deploy automated software to a Mac running OS X 10.13, something that's going to deal with kernel exceptions and answering prompts for user permissions for data folders and whatnot. They need to really streamline and automate the Mac software deployment.""Around the scalability concern, I would like to see the ability to run teamed, clustered, or hierarchical root servers, in order to provide a more robust, high availability system. The single monolithic root server model does somewhat bother me."

More BigFix Cons →

"When vCenter is in a Microsoft environment, there is a lot of licensing involved, where we face some difficulties.""The interface itself is not very user-friendly.""There isn't a clear document covering all the errors. It would be helpful if the company provided better documentation for solving issues.""I would like there to be support for this solution in Iran.""The solution could be more integrated with the Microsoft environment.""There are some complexities within the system center. For example, we use two different applications for updates and the deployment of the machine. We also have another third party solution.""Configuration Manager's reporting could be better. I need to use a third-party reporting solution to get the details. They could add reporting features similar to RVTools.""It would be better to integrate this infrastructure with native cloud environments, but we can't do it. We are trying to improve our experience by converting our infrastructure through virtualization on native cloud environments and workloads."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
  • "There is a cost benefit of using Microsoft Intune because of the packaging with other Microsoft products."
  • "Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
  • "The purchase of the product was handled by someone else."
  • "I have no comment on pricing of the solution."
  • "The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
  • "For Microsoft 365 E5 clients, cost is not an issue as this product is one of the benefits."
  • "The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."
  • More Microsoft Intune Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I can estimate the reduced cost of servers maintenance to approximatively $500,000."
  • "When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing."
  • "I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical."
  • "The product is less costly when compared to other solutions, and this is a good solid solution for what we have paid."
  • "Compliance, inventory, and licensing are really pricey. They should lower the price. It discourages users from getting onboard."
  • "You get what we call the Platform Edition, which you get for free. The patch service is maybe $0.50 per workstation per month. Then there's the basic server cost, which is about $1.50 per server per month. You also get into Lifecycle which does power management, OSD remote control, and those types of things, and that might be about 10 times the price - which works out to about $13 per server and, maybe $5 per workstation per month."
  • "The price is very fair."
  • "The price is reasonable, but our customers find it expensive."
  • More BigFix Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I am not knowledgeable with the pricing of the product."
  • "It's a large application. It consumes a lot of resources. Sometimes the price is too high for our customers. If they buy it directly from VMware, its hard to convince the customer that we will bring down the total cost of ownership, in the end."
  • "Their licensing costs are high. But I think for the scale that we are using, it's suitable. If you use it on a larger scale with many servers, you have to pay a lot of money for them. I think it's suitable for organizations that don't need expert people that want more money each year or each month because it's a straightforward solution. We prefer to pay for these products that are integrated and straightforward."
  • "The price of the solution is expensive. However, it is reasonably priced compared to competitors."
  • "It is on a yearly basis."
  • "This product is not cheap. I have a yearly license for vCenter and the license is not cheap."
  • "The price of the solution is too expensive for us and we are looking to move to another solution."
  • "The solution comes with three-year support. We have to renew the support annually after the three years are up."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."

This tool enables organizations to gather data from all of their endpoints and compile them into reports that can aid administrators in their work. It can centralize an organization’s data and also enable it to import data from other sources so that it can make more informed decisions.
    • Task automation. BigFix has the ability to automate rudimentary tasks so that users can focus on tasks that require a greater level of attention. This can include tasks such as event remediation and data collection. This feature enables users to focus their attention on other more critical tasks.
    • Data loss prevention tool. This tool enables users to prevent critical data from being leaked or leaking accidentally. Reviews from Real Users

HCL BigFix is a highly effective solution that stands out when compared to most of its competitors. Two major advantages it offers are its auto-patching capability and its user-friendly tools.

Santhosh K., the chief executive officer of Catnip Infotech Private Limited, writes, “The second valuable feature is, BigFix also has an auto patch updating feature, where the latest patches, and what is required for my system are automatically downloaded and kept ready for me. The solution applies the patch and notifies me after applying the patch. BigFix also gives me a ping saying that I should reset my system within a certain period of time, while the patch is being applied. Let's say, the patch is being applied and if there's an issue, the solution can revoke the applied patch, and revert back to the old state.”

Benedikt S., an application administrator, says, “It's very straightforward. The usability is very close to everyday technical tools that you use as a systems administrator. So it's quite user-friendly.”

vCenter Configuration Manager is a powerful configuration management tool that is designed to enable organizations to ensure that any environment that they use to conduct business is configured in the most effective possible way. It can automate configurations consistently across virtual, physical, and cloud environments. Additionally, it enables users to place critical functions into the hands of the solution thereby avoiding the possibility that human error will reduce a business’s operations. It also hardens operations against bad actors who look for holes in a user’s security compliance policies that they can exploit.

    vCenter Configuration Manager Benefits

Some of the ways that organizations can benefit by choosing to deploy vCenter Configuration Manager include:

    • Reduction of overhead costs. Configuration Manager makes it possible for users to operate with the highest possible level of effectiveness while at the same time reducing the overhead costs associated with their work. One way that it does so is by automating many tasks that would otherwise be expensive to train users to perform. This also saves users time working on basic tasks that they can then devote to other operations that need human intervention.
    • Flexibility. Configuration Manager is a highly flexible solution. It is a platform-agnostic solution that can run consistently across VMware infrastructure and Windows, Linux, and UNIX operating systems. Users can use it on the operating system that best meets their business needs. Organizations can operate without having to invest in any particular operating system.
    • Threat reduction. It enables users to reduce threats to their systems. Its approach to centralized configuration management makes it simple for users to keep control of their security setup. This means administrators can spend most of their time ensuring that an organization’s technology is safe instead of trying to figure out how to do so. Configuration Manager's ability to correlate configuration changes with issues that are detected by VMware’s vCenter Operations Manager significantly reduces the amount of time needed in order to resolve any issues that arise.
    • Deep data collection and visibility. The secure and automatic data collection provides users with a wealth of data. This gives organizations the ability to see all aspects of their configuration environment. Administrators are able to track everything without worrying that they are missing information that is critical to their work.
    • Scalability. Configuration Manager is a highly scalable product. Users can scale it so that their configuration management operations can effortlessly keep pace with the work that they are doing. • Hardware monitoring software. Configuration Manager leverages CIM SMASH technology to track the health of both their physical and virtual servers. It not only provides information when the hardware and VMware are running properly. This software also alerts users when any kind of failures occur in the physical hardware.

    Reviews from Real Users

vCenter Configuration Manager is a highly effective solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Two major advantages it offers are its intuitive and simple design and its ability to scale according to the needs of its user.
