We performed a comparison between Check Point Security Management and VMware Aria Operations for Logs based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Log Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Security Management gives us complete visibility into our security operations, allowing administrators to identify and address problem areas, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve efficiency. It offers detailed reports on network usage and security, which helps my company to monitor and control its security expenses."
"The unique management using Smart Console for all firewalls is very useful."
"The firewall cleverly handles such attacks without compromising on performance."
"The interface also makes it easy for us to configure the VPN from the GUI rather than the command line, which makes it easy even for less experienced engineers to work with."
"The solution is easy to use and comes with few vulnerabilities. You don't have to worry about release upgrades. Life cycle management is very easy."
"The firewall's blades are the solution's most valuable feature."
"Check Point Security Management has improved our organization because all corporate firewalls can be managed with a single interface."
"The company uses software called Harmony. Check Point integrates nicely, whether on an endpoint or mobile device. It integrates well with the firewall and can give me reports that I can check without going to an online portal."
"What I like is that you can have different storage locations for different applications."
"The solution's simplicity, flexibility, and extensibility are valuable features as we can integrate everything in vRealize."
"We use the on-premises version of this solution for log analysis and to find details about certain issues."
"Log Insight correlates with the VMware product log. It can assemble the logs you want, making it easier to find the output, incident, or keyword you want to search."
"It allows us to gain a comprehensive overview of our infrastructure."
"The system's management and its alerts are the most valuable aspects of the solution."
"It is a highly stable solution...It is a highly scalable solution."
"The solution is quite user-friendly."
"It would be helpful if we could enable URL and application traffic control remote access."
"Sometimes the security system slows down when it is overloaded."
"Among the things that I would like in the future is for the solution to have its application on Android and iOS, as many of the administrators have adopted remote administration positions due to what has happened since the pandemic. This would help us to have an easier and simpler administration."
"I like that the Compliance software blade is available for free with the Security Management server purchase, but it is free for only one year - after that you have to buy an additional license to continue using it. I think such an important feature is vital for the management server, and should not be licensed separately."
"In my experience, the place they can improve the most is in the technical support where I have had some serious problems that could not be solved in time due to a lack of knowledge of the assigned engineer."
"It also offers compatibility with third-party security solutions, however, it is not a lot. This needs to be improved."
"The upgrade procedure already made huge improvements, yet it remains more challenging compared to other products."
"I would like this solution to be integrated directly into the Cluster XL equipment."
"In the VMware environment, one area for improvement is the handling of VM failovers due to host failures, such as unexpected shutdowns from hardware issues. Currently, High Availability (HA) doesn't seem to recognize whether the VMs are online during failover, treating them as offline or unavailable."
"The monitoring landscape is getting bigger. When it comes to infrastructure monitoring, we need more visibility. VMware needs to integrate more related applications and third-party products. That would make it more appealing to an audience beyond the VMware team."
"The solution is a very good tool, but it has a lot of limitations. One of the main issues is around how you define your retention policy, for instance, in Log Insight. It doesn't have it. You can't define a log retention policy. You also can't define the destination or location for your logs. All of the logs are in one index or one bucket."
"What I'd like to improve in vRealize Log Insight is the licensing model. VMware provides vRealize Log Insight along with the VMware Cloud Foundation, but customers who would like to go for the native VMware would have to procure vRealize Log Insight separately. Today, vRealize Log Insight is offered on two different licenses, one is based on the number of VMs, and the other is based on the number of physical codes on the machine. If VMware can provide a bundle offer for customers who procure more than ten licenses, where you can have an option to run, for example, three hundred machines on vRealize Log Insight with no extra cost, this would encourage more people to adopt the solution. What I'd like to see in the next release of vRealize Log Insight is for a cloud option to be available, which would be a pay-as-you-go licensing model that would allow me to pick and choose what I'll monitor. For example, I have one thousand and three hundred critical servers, and the seven hundred servers for basic development, I don't want to monitor on vRealize Log Insight today, so I should be able to pick what I need to monitor on the solution and only pay for that specific instance. If VMware can apply these changes, it would help VMware customers to procure more or adopt more of vRealize Log Insight even in smaller projects."
"The product's price falls on the higher end of the spectrum, making it an area of concern."
"The tool is expensive."
"Integration with other vendors is something that could be improved, they could add more vendors."
"I think that it should be able to integrate with other third-party backup and recovery solutions, more that it does now."
