"Data Center Network Manager is absolutely stable.""The tool's most valuable feature is the consolidated dashboard, providing insights into parameters and overall usage of network features. It allows us to easily summarize insights through the dashboards. The solution offers automation capabilities, particularly in the context of connecting LAN sites with websites.""Fabric suite automation is a great feature.""The product makes the management of our environment simpler.""Monitoring system provides a clear indication of what's going on in the network.""The interface of this solution is easy to use overall.""You can integrate all the networks into the software.""I like running the scripts. With the help of a Python script, we deployed within the configuration and built up the code."

"The initial setup is pretty easy.""It is user-friendly. It is easy to set up health checks within PRTG and use scans. It is like a self-service tool, and anyone can configure their own settings within PRTG.""Its initial setup process is fast and easy.""It is easy when it comes to dependencies of devices, so if your router goes down, the three or four switches behind it will automatically be paused so that you don't get multiple alerts.""The sensors and remote probes are phenomenal. We use them for all of our global sites. The problem with our global sites are that they are all VPNs. If the link goes down, you can't monitor other solutions, as it just goes off the grid. Having remote probes allows them to still carry on and get the information that we need when it comes back up, sending the information to us.""The solution is easy to manage and the reports are very accurate.""Stable solution for monitoring networks and bandwidth, with multiple functions and features such as NetFlow Collector, graphical monitoring, etc.""It is a central solution in terms of how to actually use it. It has a very easy dashboard. Everything is concise. We are able to create custom sensors. For different parts of the business, we have many products across many environments, and it works for everything."

"The solution needs to improve reports.""The configuration is too complicated and you have to create templates and use a lot of menus.""Sometimes the product gives us problems that require support.""It is not very easy to monitor or to browse.""The visibility of applications is not great.""The reporting is not very intuitive and has room for improvement.""Automation for the RMA process can be added.""In the next release, I would like to see it merged with Prime and I think that it should be more unified."

"While the desktop app is good, they could slightly improve it. We would like it to be a single pane of glass. At the moment, you can only see certain portions of information. You have to scroll through to make it more granular. We want them to develop the desktop app to be more user-friendly.""Having a Unix implementation or Unix installation could be an improvement. Right now, it's based just on Windows, and that's a problem for some customers.""When using PRTG Network Monitor it is beneficial if you have prior experience with it, the user interface could improve.""The desktop app is the one area where it do with some improvement. From a user's perspective, I would like to be able to get more out of the desktop app as opposed to where we are now with it.""Performance-wise, PRTG Network Monitor still needs improvement because a large number of SNMPv3 queries reduces tool performance.""The remote probes seem to be a little bit buggy at times. They just stop working or they say they can't communicate. What we tend to do to is install the remote app onto the servers that we use. That seems to clear it up.""Their penetration within the market could be much better. If their pricing was lower, even though it's reasonable now, it might help them achieve this.""It would be nice if it gave us alerts via Gmail or SMS message."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
