Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very durable and that is particularly important.""The cost was the main reason we chose to use this solution.""The most valuable features are its scalability and Amazon S3 compatibility because we can move back and forth with a hybrid cloud.""The tool has S3 capability. Its scalability is excellent. From a security and encryption perspective, the solution supports SSL encryption. It is a seamless solution offering data encryption, quality service, and security encryption."

"What I found most valuable in Nutanix Files Storage is its high availability and ability to scale out with many VMs.""The customer service executives of all Nutanix products are active and responsive.""The Nutanix block files are the most valuable feature.""Nutanix Objects is reliable.""The real-time alerts generated by this system enable us to swiftly address and mitigate such threats.""Unified Storage's centralized management features enable us to accomplish whatever we want in terms of operations and migrations.""The solution is simple and robust.""What I like most about Nutanix Files Storage is the way it makes copies of the data. The solution also has high availability, which is excellent. Another valuable feature of Nutanix Files Storage is self-service, so users won't have to depend on the IT team much."

Cons
"As it is an S3 solution with the same protocol as the one we have with AWS, having better integration with AWS will be beneficial.""Cloudian HyperStore needs to incorporate AI and predictive analysis. It would be helpful if the solution could analyze and predict how to manage data better. The end users should not have access to protected documents. They should be able to drop the documents. The capacity management dashboard can be better. We also want two-factor authentication using Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator as MFA. Hence, the user would access the console not just by logging in with a password and username but with third-party applications as well.""It is a cloud-based environment and at times, it is not very simple to use."

"Managing other storage infrastructure on Nutanix Files Storage is an area for improvement. In particular, I want to add other forms of storage from different vendors not currently in Nutanix Files Storage, to the file server, for better management.""Another aspect that needs improvement is continuous protection against security threats such as ransomware and potential data leakage.""The graphical user interfaces could benefit from more attention to detail.""We would love to see the analytics and ransomware protection extended beyond just file servers to virtual machines, but they have a different product that covers that.""The only thing I would say is missing for us it is FTP protocol compatibility.""While they are good and they do work, some of the snapshotting and tiering features are not as simple to set up as they could be.""The escalation process with technical support could do with some improvement.""I would like to see the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. That could definitely be a major breakthrough in providing a unified, seamless experience for end-users. It could reduce costs as well as human effort."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Our fees are approximately half a dollar per gigabyte."
  • "The solution is cheap."
  • More Cloudian HyperStore Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price of the license is expensive when comparing it to traditional storage."
  • "I find Nutanix Files Storage competitively priced, even its feature set. Its price is seven out of ten."
  • "If we compare the cost of Nutanix Objects Storage to other solutions such as VMware licenses, our current choice is Nutanix Objects Storage. This solution is more cost-effective. However, adding VMware to Nutanix would not be a cost-efficient decision, which is why we do not use it anymore."
  • "It is quite expensive otherwise as it comes with three-tier peer underlying hardware."
  • "For clients running Nutanix, the licensing cost for Files is a small add-on cost."
  • "With all of the Nutanix equipment, the licensing is expensive. We operate in the enterprise space, but we're a midsized company. At times, the price tag is a little bit shocking for a company with only 35 employees. We're not a Fortune 500 company, but we deal with Fortune 500 drug and energy companies. We have to play in that enterprise space if we're going to have enterprise customers. I'm very price-conscious, but I understand that if I want the best, I've got to pay the price."
  • "It's not the cheapest solution. It's in line with other solutions, but it offers features that the competitors don't have at any price point, especially with regard to analytics and ransomware prevention. No one else has any sort of object-based storage available. Nutanix Unified Storage is a lot more feature-rich. This is a situation where you get what you pay for."
  • "The product is pricey."
