Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The attack simulation is excellent; initially, this feature wasn't very robust, but Microsoft improved what we could achieve with it. We can now customize our practice phishing emails and include our company logo, for example. Attack simulation also helps integrate with third-party solutions where applicable and provides an overview of our security architecture through testing. The summary includes areas for improvement in our protection and what steps we need to take to get there.""The most valuable feature is the DLP because that's where we can have an added data protection layer and extend it not just to emails but to the documents that users are working on. We can make sure that sensitive data is tagged and flagged if unauthorized parties are using it.""The most valuable feature depends on the scenario. For compliance, I like Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention. Sentinel is the most helpful feature for security. 365 Defender helps us prioritize threats across an enterprise. It's a crucial feature for the managed services team.""Microsoft Defender XDR is scalable.""The most valuable aspect is undoubtedly the exploration capability""The most valuable features are spam filtering, attachment filtering, and antivirus protection.""The threat intelligence is excellent.""Microsoft XDR's system of analysis and investigation is super convenient for our customers. It integrates with other Microsoft solutions like Defender for 365 to protect email traffic from malicious external web links and phishing."

"We have seen a reduction to the performance hit to our operating systems.""The Protect functionality on the laptops provides great visibility into what's occurring, and the cloud management of the platform is what we needed.""The most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon is crowdsourcing intelligence.""The solution can scale easily.""The feature that I find to be the most valuable, is being able to look at the system analysis and being able to baseline what is installed on the system.""Because it is security product and acts like an AIML smart product, not merely based on daily/weekly updates and signatures.""The most valuable aspects of CrowdStrike Falcon for me are its device observability, identification, and software and OS recognition.""The most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon is its accuracy."

"It has also improved our hunt ability with quick search tools, to zone in on malware or other anomalies. It is able to link items to incidents from other consoles, and works natively with the SIEM.""The solution's technical support is perfect, so I rate the technical support a ten out of ten""Reporting is great, it is easy to do a quick search through 45 days of data for something of interest.""It has a rating system now so you can rate things up or down, depending on your environment. This means alerting can be customized, yet still pick up anomalies.""It ensures the stability of network behavior across various aspects of our network and offers responsive capabilities to address incidents promptly""Compared to similar solutions, it's quite scalable. You just need to add more storage to scale-up.""There are many valuable features. The NDR gives very good network visibility, and the endpoint module has a great feature called "Live Connect" for remote connections. They also have "Tasks" that can be run on endpoints to gather specific information or retrieve logs.""The initial setup is very straightforward. The deployment of the server doesn't take so long; about a day or two max."

Cons
"The only issue I've had is, when it comes to deployment, the steps I must take around policy setup. That is challenging.""I'd like to see a wider solution that includes not only desktop devices but also other devices, such as servers, storage cabinets, switching equipment, et cetera.""The support from Microsoft could improve. There are times I have to wait for a response from a qualified specialist.""The tool gives inconsistent answers and crashes a lot.""The management features could be improved, particularly in terms of better integration with Intune, Microsoft's cloud-based management solution.""There are a few technical issues with Defender XDR that can be improved. Sometimes, the endpoint devices are not reporting properly to the Defender 365 portal. When you're getting all the information from the Microsoft portal, the devices are sometimes not in sync. We have hundreds of endpoint devices, some needing to be onboarded again.""Stability could be improved by avoiding frequent changes to the interface.""One of the biggest downsides of Microsoft products, in general, is that the menus are often difficult to find, as they tend to move from place to place between versions."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"Whenever there is a feature release (upgrade) where we push to all the endpoints, it causes something to be blocked without us knowing.""Unfortunately, native applications are not supported.""They need to strengthen the forensic capabilities of this product, for e-discovery.""The price is too high.""The product could be more accurate in terms of performance.""CrowdStrike Falcon could be enhanced by extending its security capabilities to include NDR and XDR.""I would like them to improve the correlation of data in the search algorithms. When we run an investigation, malware, phishing, etc., I want to look at multiple endpoints at once to correlate that data to see the likenesses, e.g., how are they not alike or what systems and processes are running across those systems? I don't want to have to run the same search in their Spotlight module five, 10, 15, or 100 times to get 100 different results, copy that data out, and then correlate it on my own. In a very simple way, I want to be able to load up a comma-delimited list giving me the spotlight data on these X amount of hosts, letting me search for it quickly. We have had to go back to CrowdStrike, and say, "Our search are taking far too long for even one host." They did bump up the cores and that did improve performance, but it is still kind of slow to get that Spotlight data. That is probably our biggest pain point. I think that needs some help. I understand this kind of information access is probably not the easiest thing to do. It is probably a big ask depending on how their back-end is setup.""I would also like to see the endpoint firewall component produce some level of logging and feedback."

More CrowdStrike Falcon Cons →

"The interface bug needs to be squashed once and for all. This has been the predominant issue with an otherwise stellar product. It reboots itself unscheduled, about once a month, due to a memory buffer flaw in the interface.""The reports in the endpoint area of Elevate can be improved.""We position the solution as an antivirus, but this part of the solution needs improvement. They need to generally enhance the features that they have, rather than adding anything new.""Configuration, in terms of building the collector and communicating with endpoints, is complex.""I encounter difficulty removing certain entries in behavior or alerts; likewise, I am unable to add specific calls.""Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product making it one of its shortcomings that needs improvement.""There is room for improvement in email security. It's a security issue. If you're aiming for XDR, covering the entire threat landscape is crucial."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "The pricing will depend upon your volume of usage."
  • "I would like them to further reduce the price, because it is quite pricey at the moment."
  • "Purchasing the product through the AWS Marketplace is just a click away. Since we were using the on-premise version of the product, we continued on the cloud by purchasing it through the AWS Marketplace."
  • "I do not have experience with the cost or licensing of the product."
  • "The other administrator and I can log in to check the exact details of what happened, what was running, and what caused the detection. We know exactly what was happening on the end users PC and we can tell if it's something that we actually need or something that's malicious."
  • "We are at about $60,000 per year."
  • "This solution has a very competitive price."
  • "Our company pays approximately US$ 65,000 annually for 900 machines."
  • More CrowdStrike Falcon Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "You license by the number of days of logs you need to maintain visibility for. Forty-five days is a good solid number for a company with around a 10k user base."
  • "It's quite expensive but we can customize it to reduce the price."
  • "Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product. My company makes yearly payments toward the licensing cost of the solution."
  • "It's somehow expensive. From one to ten, I would rate it a five. They need to improve the prices. It's very high."
