We performed a comparison between Check Point CloudGuard Network Security and Sophos Cyberoam UTM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."One of the nice things about FortiGate is that it can be deployed on the cloud or on-premises. You can actually do both. That's the biggest reason why I stick with this solution as opposed to something like Cisco Meraki. Another nice thing is that I can log directly into a FortiGate or get to it through their FortiCloud access products. They're pretty reliable and consistent. One of the reasons why I started using the product was their single pane of management. I can deploy their line of firewalls in conjunction with their switching and access points, and I can manage the entire network from one interface. I don't have to log into one interface for the firewall, another one for the access points, and another one for the switches. These firewalls have access point controller functionality built right into the system, so I don't even have to purchase additional devices to manage them."
"The tool is a nice product and easy to handle. The software's user interface is also good. You can easily implement remote access in the solution."
"Fortinet FortiGate's most valuable features are ease of use, flexibility, and most of the configuration we can be done using the GUI. When we compare Fortinet FortiGate with other solutions the firewall policy are very easy to understand."
"The multi-tenancy feature is most valuable. It integrates very well with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is URL filtering."
"The scalability is good in Fortinet FortiGate."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are remote access, web filtering, and IPS."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is load balancing. It can provide central management and VPNA. Additionally, it has enhanced our security environment."
"The main benefit of the Check Point Virtual Systems solution is its ability to split up the hardware appliances that we have into several logical, virtual devices with separate traffic handling policies, as well as the switching and routing."
"The most valuable feature I have found in CloudGuard Network Security is the flexibility to rebuild the firewall as needed."
"We consolidated from three management consoles and three clusters to only one, which is a big improvement."
"Check Point CloudGuard Network Security has a beautiful threat emulation different from the market."
"The most valuable feature for us is the cluster support."
"The tool's most valuable features are threat prevention and protection mechanisms."
"A unique architecture makes this product stand out from other solutions."
"The tool's deployment is rapid. Its dashboard is also useful. It's easy to deploy both on-premises and in Azure. In an office with VMware running, deployment is a simple process. Similarly, in Azure, deployment is easy and scalable. Adding more CPUs is a straightforward task – just shut it down, modify the security, and restart. This ease of use translates into cost and resource savings, and faster deployment times."
"The solution's web filtering is an important feature for us in our company."
"It has been working fine. You just turn it on, and it works."
"The dashboard is very good-looking and offers maximum features. If a customer's website has a problem, we can guide them over the phone because they can easily find the specific option on the dashboard. That's why we suggest buying Sophos."
"The tool is stable."
"The most valuable feature is the solution is easy to configure for users."
"SD-WAN and IPSec features are valuable to me."
"The most valuable feature of this product is the threat protection."
"We have never had to restart a firewall. The firewalls have all worked perfectly fine."
"There are problems with the custom reporting of the unique traffic. The data is there, but it is too difficult for us to extract."
"A sandbox would be good in order to be able to inspect the emails containing spam and be able to validate the emails that contain malware, prior to delivering to the customer."
"The UTM filtering needs improvement."
"The search tool needs improvement. It's very difficult to search for policies right now."
"The main aspect of FortiGate that could be improved is load balancing. Our management team does not want to buy another appliance for only load balancing."
"The initial setup is complex."
"The performance and speed are aspects of the solution that could always be improved upon."
"The product does need better support in the cloud environment. It's not exactly cloud-native right now."
"There are some usability issues we'd like to see improved."
"We are at the place where we are looking at better integration with the management system. We use an MDS today, and it is self-deployed. We want to get to the Smart-1 Cloud, but we do not know what that looks like today because it does not support a multi-domain setup. Smart-1 should either be able to do multi-domain or there should be some form of taking a multi-domain environment and putting it in Smart-1."
"The initial setup is difficult. It took me three tries to get it right. The setup took two or three hours."
"As an administrator, I can say that among all of the Check Point products I have been working with so far, the Virtual Systems solution is one of the most difficult."
"Check Point CloudGuard Network Security could improve by making it easier to configure."
"Check Point could show us use cases that would help us in Czech and could help us with security threats in our specific country."
"The costs are high."
"The solution needs to improve the interruptions that happen during gateway upgrades."
"VPN configuration is not very swift."
"SD-WAN should be included in the tool."
"Cyberoam configuration is done through the browser, which is one of the places that viruses spread."
"I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them."
"The product’s pricing has increased by approximately 45% in four months. This particular area needs improvement."
"Technical support could be faster."
"Hence, it needs to be easier to configure rules using the solution."
"I don't know whether this will be included in an upgrade, but I would like to get the user utility, like seeing where the users are using more of the data."
