Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is easy to use and performs very well.""We've found the solution to be pretty stable.""The feature I like most is the SD-WAN. It allows you to manage more than one ISP at the same time. And there is a high-availability mode, so if one of your ISPs is down, you still have a backup.""The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is load balancing. It can provide central management and VPNA. Additionally, it has enhanced our security environment.""The network security and cloud security are most valuable.""It's inexpensive compared to some of the other technology out there.""Offers good security and filtering.""The most important features of Fortinet FortiGate are the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and firewall control applications."

More Fortinet FortiGate Pros →

"It does give certain protection for everything that is well configured on our McAfee server. We have good protection with it. If we could find a feature and make it work, it would work perfectly, there would be no bugs, and it would be really good."

More McAfee Firewall Enterprise MFE [EOL] Pros →

"The port forwarding is good.""The solution's interface is user-friendly, and the web protection is good. The tool is highly stable. The product is scalable. The technical support is good. We chose Sophos Cyberoam UTM because their focus on security research is higher compared to other brands. It's an all-in-one solution with antivirus, EDR, wireless protection, and web protection integrated into one box. The initial setup was straightforward.""The solution has good load balancers.""The solution's web filtering is an important feature for us in our company.""For a small-medium enterprise this solution is easy to manage and operate.""The solution is easy to use.""The most valuable feature is the IPSec forwarding.""The most valuable feature of this product is the threat protection."

Cons
"A lack of integration between our data centers.""It claims it does DLP, but the degree and level of controls are very basic.""The monitor and the visibility, in this proxy, is very weak.""Cisco Meraki products are rising very quickly in the cloud and the connected era. Meraki products offer much better ROI, upgradability, and manageability.""Palo Alto has a feature called WildFire Analysis that is unavailable in FortiGate. WildFire is better than a sandbox because it can address zero-day threats and vulnerabilities. It can immediately identify zero-day threats from the cloud.""FortiGate should have a better way of detecting and managing the system memory because otherwise if the memory is too low, a system restart is required.""Stability and technical support are the two major issues I have found with Fortinet.""They can do more tests before they release new versions because I would like to be more assured. We had some experiences where they release something new and great, but some of the old features are disabled or they don't work well, which impacts the product satisfaction. The manufacturer should be able to prove that everything works or not only that it might work. This is applicable to most of the other services, software, and hardware companies. They all should work on this. We cannot trust every new release, such as a beta release, on the first day. We wait for some comments on the forums and from other companies that we know. We always wait a few weeks before we use the updated version. They should also extend the VPN client application, especially for Linux versions. Currently, it has an application for Linux devices, but it doesn't work the way we want to connect to the VPN. They use only the old connection, not the new one. They have VPN client applications for Windows and Mac, but they can add more useful features to better manage the devices and monitor the current health of each device. Such features would be helpful for our company."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"Customer support and AV are both lacking and are really hard to come to you when the product is installed. Those are the two major points that they need to work on."

More McAfee Firewall Enterprise MFE [EOL] Cons →

"The VPN needs to be improved.""The reporting should be improved as well as the backup.""Cyberoam UTM needs to have more certifications with third-parties, such as NSS Labs.""The configuration requires an expert to be set up, so it could be made simpler.""The documentation is not straightforward.""We have had some issues with technical support, which is an area that needs improvement.""The blocking needs to be improved.""There needs to be more documentation that users can access to help them understand the solution or troubleshoot as necessary."

Pricing and Cost Advice

  • "The value is the capability of having multiple services with one unique license, not having the limitation per user licensing schema, like other vendors."
