Pros
"Allows for firewall rules to be programmed and named in a way that makes it “readable”""Easy to implement, and it is also reliable.""The inspection and web security features are most valuable.""It's very easy to configure.""The security on offer is very good.""The SD-WAN is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is URL filtering.""It's quite comfortable to handle the FortiGate firewall."

"It does give certain protection for everything that is well configured on our McAfee server. We have good protection with it. If we could find a feature and make it work, it would work perfectly, there would be no bugs, and it would be really good."

More McAfee Firewall Enterprise MFE [EOL] Pros →

"The solution is easy to integrate.""The most valuable feature is the IPSec forwarding.""The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is a very strong product with good support.""The interface is user-friendly.""SD-WAN and IPSec features are valuable to me.""It is very easy to use.""We have never had to restart a firewall. The firewalls have all worked perfectly fine.""The solution's web filtering is an important feature for us in our company."

Cons
"They can do more tests before they release new versions because I would like to be more assured. We had some experiences where they release something new and great, but some of the old features are disabled or they don't work well, which impacts the product satisfaction. The manufacturer should be able to prove that everything works or not only that it might work. This is applicable to most of the other services, software, and hardware companies. They all should work on this. We cannot trust every new release, such as a beta release, on the first day. We wait for some comments on the forums and from other companies that we know. We always wait a few weeks before we use the updated version. They should also extend the VPN client application, especially for Linux versions. Currently, it has an application for Linux devices, but it doesn't work the way we want to connect to the VPN. They use only the old connection, not the new one. They have VPN client applications for Windows and Mac, but they can add more useful features to better manage the devices and monitor the current health of each device. Such features would be helpful for our company.""The Web-filter in this solution is not very good.""Usually, we sell the bundle with the UTM or threat management piece with IPS, IDS. Other providers, such as Palo Alto, are ahead in terms of safe functionality. So, for me, delivering truly safe service is probably something that still needs to be improved.""It should come integrated or have its own type of network monitor tool in a module. There should just be one package, and you are good to go.""There can be more security in hybrid implementations. When a customer has a hybrid environment where some parts are in the cloud, we need a consistent security solution for such scenarios.""Fortinet Fortigate could benefit by simplifying some of their processes.""It is stable, but its stability can be improved.""The scalability could be better."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"Customer support and AV are both lacking and are really hard to come to you when the product is installed. Those are the two major points that they need to work on."

More McAfee Firewall Enterprise MFE [EOL] Cons →

"Sometimes, during part of the configuration, if you don't have a lot of technical knowledge, then you may struggle a bit to configure it.""Sophos Cyberoam UTM could have a more advanced reporting function.""The solution had a feature to import users from a CSV file. However, the latest version does not have that option.""The product needs to improve its pricing.""I would like to see improvements in the development of reports. The process needs to be made simple.""The VPN needs to be improved.""When it comes to web filtering and application filtering, it does not contain enough signatures to determine all of the sites that need to be blocked.""The reports need to be more detailed and granular."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Fortinet has one or two license types, and the VPN numbers are only limited by the hardware chassis make."

  • "The value is the capability of having multiple services with one unique license, not having the limitation per user licensing schema, like other vendors."

  • "We saved a bundle by not needing all the past appliances from an NGFW."
  • "The cost is too high... They have to focus on more features with less cost for the customer. If you see the market, where it's going, there are a lot of players offering more features for less cost."
