Find out in this report how the two Deduplication Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The time taken for backup is very fast."
"The initial setup of DD Boost involves a simple procedure."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is deduplication."
"The tool's deployment was easy."
"I like the tool set, it's easy to work on and the support is brilliant."
"Data Domain is valuable, especially to restore data. For normal data, the restore from Data Domain is very efficient and fast."
"This product's unique protocol make it superior to competing products and alternate solutions."
"The solution is very easy to manage. That's its most valuable feature."
"Overall IBM ProtectTIER is a great solution. It is easy to use."
"The command-line interface is good."
"The most valuable features are the Self-Service, and the ability to search the data."
"The solution is highly stable."
"The cataloging is the best feature. It takes millions of frames for the backup. It's incremental, so it takes less time to complete."
"In terms of stability, I've found it to be very stable. I've walked into the server room when it was at 60 degrees Celcius, and it was still running fine."
"It should be expanded to include other databases and software. It should also be made easier to restore."
"The solution could improve by adding more flexibility for the customers here in Thailand. Some of the small capacity models of the solution are not needed by our customers. There should be a more flexible version of the solution."
"Integration could be better."
"My customer was interested in ransomware protection. Currently, Dell offers the Cyber Vault solution, which is separate from Data Domain. Ideally, ransomware protection would be integrated directly within DD Boost, without requiring an additional out-of-the-box solution. This feature is currently available with HPE's Zerto and Huawei's Ocean Protect with third-party products like PradoNet. While Cyber Vault exists as a separate solution from Data Domain, having some standard protection for immutable backups into DD Boost would be a valuable addition and make it more competitive with other vendors."
"When my company faced a problem with the product, it took some time to get proper support."
"The experience of restoring VMware or Veeam Backup is difficult, when the backup you are using is a solution for backup, which is already having a deduplication. When you try to restore from Data Domain, it doesn't work perfectly, because Data Domain is already having a deduplication as well."
"DD Boost's technical support could be better."
"I'd like the be able to deploy the solution on SAN backups."
"The configuration wizards are still complex and hard to navigate. These should be easier to manage."
"Setting up the system to work with legacy equipment is a bit complex at times."
"IBM ProtectTIER could improve by being more user-friendly."
"The backup for a large amount of data is slow."
"I would like the possibility to back up the infrastructure and then replicate it upon on restart, without having to orchestrate the starting of the VM."
