Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Its false positives are very low, because the behavior analysis engine double checks them.""Deep Instinct’s prevention-first approach to stopping unknown ransomware and malware is the reason why we purchased the product. The pre-execution versus post-execution is a big piece for us where it is able to stop something before it even hits the box or desktop. That was one of the big reasons why we went with Deep Instinct.""The most valuable feature is its ability to detect and eradicate ransomware using non-signature-based methods.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""Deep Instinct's detection rate is close to 100 percent.""It has the lowest false-positive ratio that I have come across. I have only had one which was a legitimate file that I had to whitelist. It was for one of the applications I was trying to install and integrate. But the false positive ratio is very low.""The detection rate is very high. In all the testing with around 20 partners in different environments, quite a lot of them had installed with other anti-malware applications, like Sophos. This software can co-exist with those applications in the same machine. This is impressive.""Deep Instinct complements the solutions we already have. You don't need to rip and replace any antivirus or endpoint that you have. It's easy to use and it's easy to have it side-by-side with other solutions. That makes it really easy to have an additional level of protection, rather than to hassle with doing solution migration."

"The most valuable feature of ESET Protect is the security while accessing any transaction, such as online banking systems. When I access a banking website a new browser opens which is more secure, which I find very useful.""ESET PROTECT Enterprise is reliable.""It's helped us with restrictions and knowing which users we can provide permissions to and which users we need to restrict.""We can easily manage resources, disable or enable clients and update them.""The solution offers a lot of configuration capabilities.""ESET is better in some ways than other vendors because it fulfills many areas where we'd otherwise have to use different products.""The most valuable features of ESET File Security are the performance and it doesn't take too many resources.""The product enabled Zero-Day Protection for our environment. We never encountered any issues regarding threats."

Cons
"I would like a little more training for the admins.""When things get done automatically, I would appreciate more logging of what's happening in the background... we should be able to backtrack from the log that gets uploaded to our cloud instance and see, forensically, what the root cause was.""They have a manual, but it is not excessive.""I would love to see a really exceptional, outstanding level of reporting. I know that's like asking for a unicorn to leap out of the sky with any of these products... When everything works, clients began to wonder: "Everything's fine. Why do we need you?" That's where the reporting capabilities would allow us to really demonstrate: "Hey, here's what's actually going on, Mr. Customer."""There's an issue in the installation process where you can't install it unless you disable the built-in Windows Bitdefender antivirus. So, you have to manually disable Microsoft Bitdefender in order to install Deep Instinct. So, that makes it impossible to do a network rollout unless you manually visit each computer, which is ridiculous.""The Management Console is not localized.""Some features are too resource intensive.""Due to the nature of deep learning, it’s sometimes difficult to determine why the AI model has blocked a specific file, although this has improved over time."

More Deep Instinct Prevention Platform Cons →

"The availability and sustainability could also be improved.""I would like to see more in managing mobile devices in an on-premise solution. The latest news I've heard is that ESET drops mobile management module development for the on-prem version. It's moving to the cloud. Like in endpoint client protection, I would also like to see more of the vulnerability management features and additional app control functionality in ESET Protect.""Sometimes, the connection to the machine requires troubleshooting.""The solution can be quite technical and therefore is challenging for new users.""The tool is complex and expensive.""I would like to see more features on the reporting side of things.""In terms of management accounts, there's a lot of manuals that seem to be mixed up. Sometimes, it's a little bit confusing.""Its automation can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If I include the false positive rate and the detection rate in the comparison, Deep Instinct is worth its price."
  • "The pricing is a little bit expensive but we are satisfied with DI's performance."
  • "In comparison to the other products out there, it's exceptionally competitively priced. When you consider the lower administrative overhead that it facilitates, it's an absolute value."
  • "Pricing and licensing are very straightforward. It's two SKUs, one is for the console and the other is for the client."
  • "One thing about their licensing program that I like is that just one covers the server as well as on the endpoint as well as mobile devices. There is no complexity in calculating how many SKUs I need for mobile, for laptop, for desktop, and for servers. It's very simple and that makes it much easier to budget."
  • "We are a nonprofit. The MSP had provides pretty decent nonprofit rates for us. This was one of the key factors that made us choose Deep Instinct over its competitors who were significantly more expensive."
  • "Its pricing is too high, but that is not because of the product. It is expensive because of the cost of the console. You need a console to control the whole thing, but the console is expensive. You have to split this cost among all possible users. Normally, to be able to make it economically attractive, you need at least 1,000 agents, PCs, or users. If you have a customer with 300 to 500 agents, PCs, or users, it becomes too pricey."
  • "Their pricing is very competitive. It is good, fair, and a lot cheaper than what we were doing with Cylance."

  • "There is a license needed to use ESET Protect. The licensing cost is very low, it is approximately $10 per license."
  • "ESET PROTECT Enterprise is affordable."
  • "The product is cost-effective compared to one of its competitors."
