We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"For visualization capabilities, the automation capabilities make it possible to support the different personas. The features and capabilities are excellent and come with excellent support.""With some of the other tools, you have to buy 20 different plugins to get to the same capability that comes with the basic Agility capability.""It allows my clients to have one central tool to manage their agile projects.""Agility is highly flexible. It can do much more than what our client is doing with it. They use it in a defined way. Some at that company have a much broader knowledge of agile and SAFe, but they're given applications and a mandated way to work. We had to work within their parameters and provide an accurate transition so the data would be mapped and pushed through.""It can generate reports showing a burndown chart, burnup chart, and the planned vs actual velocity."

"GitLab is very useful for pipelines, continuous integration, and continuous deployment. It is also stable.""A user friendly solution.""I like GitLab's security and SAS tools.""GitLab is kind of an image of GitHub, so it gives us the flexibility to monitor our changes in the repos.""The most valuable features of Gitlab are integration with CIE and the ability to rapidly deploy solutions, projects, and applications. It is very easy to use, and there are no complaints.""It speeds up our development, it's faster, safer, and more convenient.""I have found the most valuable feature is security control. I also like the branching and cloning software.""We like that we can create branches and then the branches can be reviewed and you can mesh those branches back. You can independently work with your own branch, you don't need to really control the core of other people."

Cons
"There is room for improvement in getting the analytics portion of the solution more integrated with the rest of it.""In my work as a contractor, it's always frustrating when a client has multiple software applications that don't talk to each other and they all perform the same function. That presents a huge challenge between their IT groups.""The user interface can be improved by adding Save, Edit, Add, Cancel, and Return buttons to the popup windows that are displayed when you click on a child item.""The machine learning features are a new capability but could be improved. This is being worked by Digital.ai currently. Multicolor simulation, specifically, could be improved.""Improve how to create and track releases. Currently, I have to create child projects."

"As GitLab is not perfect, what needs improvement in the solution is the Wiki feature of the groups or the repertories because currently, it's not searchable by default. You'll need an indexing service such as Elasticsearch to make it searchable, and that requires too much work, so for me, it's the main feature that should be improved in GitLab. In the next version of the solution, from the top of my head, the documentation could be improved. Besides the Wiki, it would be good if there's documentation that would be automatically generated based on the code repository. In other words, there should be some tutorials from GitLab for developers in the next release.""I rate the support from GitLab a four out of five.""Merge conflicts and repository maintenance could improve. If there is someone new to the system they would not know if there is a conflict.""I would like to see better integration with project management tools such as Jira.""It would be really good if they integrated more features in application security.""In the free version, when a merge request is raised, there is no way to enforce certain rules. We can't enforce that this merge request must be reviewed or approved by two or three people in the team before it is pushed to the master branch. That's why we are exploring using some agents.""It is a little complex to set up the pipelines within the solution.""I would like more Agile features in the Premium version. The Premium version should have all Agile features that exist in the Ultimate version. IBM AOM has a complete Agile implementation, but in GitLab, you only have these features if you buy the Ultimate version. It would be good if we can use these in the Premium version."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "You get what you pay for. Don't let your development teams dictate what the portfolio management team should use as the main tool."
  • "Comparing the pricing to other products, I think this solution is in the middle."
  • More Digital.ai Agility Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I think that we pay approximately $100 USD per month."
  • "The price is okay."
  • "It seems reasonable. Our IT team manages the licenses."
  • "Its price is fine. It is on the cheaper side and not expensive. You have to pay additionally for GitLab CI/CD minutes. Initially, we used the free version. When we ran out of GitLab minutes, we migrated to the paid version."
  • "It is very expensive. We can't bear it now, and we have to find another solution. We have a yearly subscription in which we can increase the number of licenses, but we have to pay at the end of the year."
  • "I don't mind the price because I use the free version."
  • "We are using its free version, and we are evaluating its Premium version. Its Ultimate version is very expensive."
  • "The price of GitLab could be better, it is expensive."
