Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of F5 Advanced WAF are the easy identification of events and customization. We can pinpoint our settings.""It's a fairly easy-to-use and user-friendly tool. My administrators and team also like its ability to customize the rules per the requirements.""The most valuable feature is that it is secure.""It also has antivirus and DDoS mitigation capabilities. We have enabled these features.""In terms of F5 Advanced WAF's most valuable features, I would definitely say its stability. F5 is one the most stable products. Either as the load balancer or the web application firewall, it is very stable.""One of the most valuable features is the Local Traffic Manager.""The best solution for WAF.""The anti-bot protection is the solution's most valuable feature. Safe-guard or credential staffing are also useful features."

"The most valuable feature of the solution is its stability. During the time that I have been using it, it has not undergone a service failure... And with the integrated application protection, we have not suffered from attacks anymore.""The most valuable feature is the load-balancing reverse proxy.""his solution allows me to secure applications, by blocking suspicious traffic based on the signature that has been enabled for that particular application.""It saves us a lot of work in terms of management since it has tasks already defined automatically. That enables us to better administer our services. It is very dynamic and easy to administer.""The best part is that we are able to manage it easily. It is easy to manage and easy to integrate with third-party applications.""Radware has been characterized by being extremely robust. This gives us the confidence to offer our users a continuous service.""The UI is user-friendly.""The strength of this solution is the application delivery controller."

Cons
"You have to buy another module with an extra license, to have the authentication feature.""I think the deployment templates can be better.""The administrator's user interface and some of the settings can sometimes be very complicated to understand.""The reporting could be clearer and embedded to include our movement data.""For me, an area for improvement in F5 Advanced WAF is the reporting as it isn't so clear. The vendor needs to work on the reporting capability of the solution. What I'd like to see in the next release of F5 Advanced WAF is threat intelligence to protect your web application, particularly having that capability out-of-the-box, and not needing to pay extra for it, similar to what's offered in FortiWeb, for example, any request that originates from a malicious IP will be blocked automatically by FortiWeb. F5 Advanced WAF should have the intelligence for blocking malicious IPs, or automatically blocking threats included in the license, instead of making it an add-on feature that users have to pay for apart from the standard licensing fees.""Most customers encounter stability issues with the product's Big-IP logs.""F5 Advanced WAF could improve the precision of the scanning. There are many false positives. They should improve their threat database.""The solution's dashboard could be improved. When you're moving from policy to policy, the logs and the integration of the logs in other systems aren't straightforward."

More F5 Advanced WAF Cons →

"The community portal does not have a place to find scripts.""You need to have pretty good internal knowledge of the solution.""We’d like the solution to include more security features in the standard license.""We recently had a problem with the tables Obsolete ARP which was observed by the support team. It would be good to diagnose and solve this problem with a patch since it is not documented that it will be solved in later updates.""The user interface can be improved.""The solution could be more robust.""We are in the process of updating our version of the solution, so judging what should be improved is difficult. But in some cases, the visualization takes a while, especially for mapping issues.""The service could be improved by better customer support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is too high."
  • "I think the price is very high."
  • "After buying the program, you just pay for the support every year."
  • "Licensing fees for this solution are paid on a yearly basis."
  • "It's more expensive than other solutions and depending on the modules, there can be additional fees."
  • "F5 bundles up services and the bundle is what you pay for rather than individual components."
  • "Its price is fair. We have done a couple of deals where they were able to give some kind of discount to the customers. The price was initially high for the customers, but after a couple of negotiations, it came within their budget. They were happy with that."
  • "There are various plans available for Fortinet FortiWeb Cloud WAF as a Service, including a trial version."
  • More F5 Advanced WAF Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It has a good price point and is more reasonable than other comparable products"
  • "Radware Alteon is less expensive than many of the other competitors."
  • "The pricing is better than the competition. It is getting more pricey as the years go on, as more people are migrating to it, and as the technology gets better."
  • "I'm content with Alteon's pricing."
  • "Alteon's price is excellent compared to other solutions. F5 costs around twice as much. We still have about three years left before this hardware reaches the end of its life. We're migrating to the cloud, and phasing some of this out, but it's nice that they've given us a long window to keep their hardware in place."
  • "The cost of Radware Alteon is mid-ranged."
  • "Its pricing is very good. It is very competitive. Radware Alteon is the leader in the market. At a lesser price, we get a good product and also good support. Other vendors who are providing load balancers charge separately for two items. You have the hardware cost, and you have the support cost, whereas, in the case of Radware, you get both in a single package."
  • "The solution is cost-efficient."
