We performed a comparison between Fortinet FortiClient and VMware Carbon Black Endpoint based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR."
"This is stable and scalable."
"The solution was relatively easy to deploy."
"It's pretty stable, and I don't have any problems with it."
"I find all of the features valuable."
"Compared to other similar solutions, it is faster in connecting."
"You can scale the product."
"From an application perspective, this solution is stable."
"Starting from FortiGate and from the EMS server, you have to begin at the endpoint, and that's the most useful thing about using FortiClient."
"What I find valuable in FortiClient is its patch management capabilities, allowing remote updates efficiently."
"The product is user-friendly."
"The initial setup was fairly easy."
"It is stable and easy to set up."
"There's lots of very useful documentation online to help troubleshoot and learn about the product."
"The product enables device controls, helping us protect the devices and prevent data leakages."
"It gives you all of the information in a short and sweet fashion."
"Provides visibility into the chain of attack and threats that use valid operating system processes to execute attacks."
"The product allows us to focus on endpoint and antivirus protection."
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup was straightforward."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors."
"To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR."
"The user interface could be more inviting."
"I would like to see an improvement in the web filter, because I think it can be more user-friendly."
"The solution requires skillful users."
"The software inventory part is not yet up-to-date. It doesn't have a great interface, which is a disadvantage. I wish we could leverage it, but we don't use it at all because it's not that reliable."
"The tool needs to improve its web filtering feature. Its support quality needs improvement. We speak different languages, and this can create misunderstandings."
"The product's performance and pricing could be better."
"There should be more frequent releases or updates."
"For buying or deploying it with additional features, apart from VPN client, web security, or antivirus, I would like to see the USB key blocking function included in this solution for endpoint security. For endpoint security, you need antivirus and all of the features included in antivirus software these days, web security, and USB key locking feature. If it is implemented in a way that in one package, you have all the primary features needed for security these days, it would be nice. All of those features will probably be additionally charged as it is a web security feature on FortiClient."
"It is difficult to extract reports for ongoing scans"
"The product's reporting capabilities are an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The solution needs better overall compatibility with other products."
"It could be a bit complicated. You have to be very familiar with Carbon Black to understand what it is doing and why it is doing. I would like to have more explanations and simplification in the user interface. It would be good to get help and see more explanations. It should tell us that a software is blocked and the reason for it. It would be good to be able to build chains in terms of what caused what, what worked, and what caused an issue. We are now moving from Carbon Black to Cortex XDR. While choosing antivirus software, we were also looking at Carbon Black because it also has an antivirus package, and it is next-generation, but we were told that Carbon Black doesn't support firewalls. We have Palo Alto firewalls. We would have chosen this solution if it supported firewalls, in particular next-generation firewalls, but unfortunately, it doesn't. Therefore, we decided on Cortex XDR because it integrates with Palo Alto firewalls."
"This solution works well but needs lots of tuning and optimization."
"The application control can be improved. It should also have an automatic update of the agents."
"It would be nice to have additional forensic tools that you can build into the back end."
"Carbon Black CB Defense has helped improve my organization by allowing us to have better data so that we can do correlation and get visibility into the alerts."
