We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It gives us a central place to schedule tasks and run them distributed.""This tool has machine learning and voice recognition and computer vision, which are both quite useful aspects. These aren't available in other tools. It's a good addition to this tool and it gives the solution an edge on the market.""Fortra's Automate performs the job effectively and has the capability to alert us of any issues.""The most valuable features for my client are timing and scheduling.""The licensing of the product is very good. You only need to license it once and then you have it forever.""I like the interface; it makes managing automation easy. We can set different schedules and templates for each task.""We use it for specific cases, mainly secure file transfers, which are vital for us. And it works for us.""We have tried other RPA solutions like UiPath or Automation Anywhere. They are fantastic products but complex, and it's hard to understand everything. It would be best if you had a skilled developer or several. Automate is easy to implement, administer, and use. It's appropriate for us because our cases are simple and easy to automate. We don't need complicated tools with many features; We prefer to get a significant ROI quickly."

"The support from Cisco is very good. I was with them as a company for 40 years""The technical support is great, the product is easy-to-use, and it is stable.""Provides a robust, full spectrum enterprise-wide WLA platform.""Technical support from IBM is very good.""This solution has a request feature where users can request the added features they need to have developed. Based on client voting for those features, these are developed and released.""The DWC, when configured correctly, is a great GUI tool to provide Self-Service Scheduling capabilities to the user community.""Jobs can be triggered in multiple nodes.""The most important feature is the creation of folders. It's a really great feature because you can organize the process with naming conventions."

Cons
"I believe we need to test various OCR tools that assist in evaluating, let's say, six different customer resyncs. We analyze their spending patterns and documentations, but current OCR support has limitations, requiring highly standardized documents, which isn't always the case. With a more advanced OCR system, we could improve processes related to credit risk management and legal matters. We're exploring how to integrate Fortra's Automate with our CRM platform, taking cues from instances where Salesforce seamlessly merged with Automate. However, we use a different CRM, Insight for New Enterprise, and we're seeking ways to connect the automation process within our CRM. We aim for the automation to continue smoothly, even in instances where traditional automation methods might face hurdles.""The solution has a very weak knowledge base.""There is room for improvement regarding cloud functionality; there are a few missing features, and the logging could be better, especially air logging. We can go into logging events and create our own task, but it would be nice if this were more detailed.""They do not encrypt passwords, so this is an issue with HIPAA compliance.""The vendor is currently working on a solution that allows us to automatically create a process that is based on a document that we receive via email.""We really need a free development environment for customers. Building and testing automation on production isn't ideal.""It's possible that they could use a stronger community for seeking guidance and help.""The documentation is not that great."

More Fortra's Automate Cons →

"It would be helpful to have a mobile app that could be used to follow the job schedule.""The performance of the previous versions could be better.""Scalability-wise, it can be a little bit challenging.""There should be more custom documentation, specifically around Java APIs. There should also be more training. In terms of features, we are currently using only 50% of its features. We don't use all features that are available, but there is always room for improvement in all of the tools.""The configuration of IBM Workload Automation has some challenges. We have a difficult time customizing it, but it is similar to other solutions.""This solution does have bugs and could be improved in this regard. However, these bugs are resolved relatively quickly.""It is missing some features and can improve in areas where the competition is somewhat better like linking job dependencies.""Slow down on the releases a bit. I fully understand that IWA functionality is increasing at an amazing rate, but trying to keep up with the upgrades is rough."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Compared to other products, the pricing model for this solution is much more convenient, flexible, and adaptable to the Portuguese reality."
  • "I like the way this solution is priced because you can buy a license, or you can buy the software outright."
  • "It comes with a package that costs approximately $20,000 USD per year."
  • "While solutions like UiPath and Blue Prism cost around $11,000-$12,000 for each license, this product costs around $7,000 and you can keep it forever."
  • "I'm only involved in running the product and maintaining the systems, so I can't speak to the cost."
  • "The pricing is quite reasonable. We can run the process with one bot. The limitation is at the server level because they have some resources, and sometimes that is enough. It isn't too expensive, so you can get a good return off of one, and you can also have a pack of five bots that is quite competitive."
  • "From a distributor's perspective, one of the biggest selling points of Automate is its price point."
  • "The cost is a bit high for a small business like ours, but we manage with Fortra's Automate."

  • "To my knowledge, IWA is the only WLA product that will provide "parallel tracking" capability to assist in upgrading from one platform to IWA."
  • "It is about one-third of the cost of a controller."
  • "The contract is with the customer with whom we are working, so IBM is not directly involved in this."
  • "We transitioned from a server license to per job license, and that saved us a lot money."
  • "Pricing depends on the number of agents that you install."
