Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product's stability is good.""The flexibility of IBM Planning Analytics is a great feature of this solution. The design flexibility with data rules and defining calculations The ability to combine online and offline calculations are a benefit. Additionally, the forecasting features and predictive analytics is very good.""The tool is flexible.""The ease of use is valuable. The fact that it's plugged into Excel spreadsheets is also valuable. It provides additional functionality where you can slice and dice the information in a way that you can't do with spreadsheets""It's a very stable, robust product.""The most valuable features of IBM Planning Analytics for streamlining planning processes include a unified database where all data are centralized.""The most valuable feature is that it is able to slice and dice the data.""Planning Analytics' best features include automatic updates and slicing."

"Inter Process Communication.""It's easy to use for business analysts.""Its robustness is most valuable. It can handle massive amounts of data quickly. If it's properly configured and tuned, it can handle massive amounts of data very quickly to produce results. That to me is the number one feature.""Can utilize SQL queries to generate reports directly.""I like the scheduling feature. It has an inbuilt scheduler which is very good, and it allows us to create agents, and those agents can be scheduled. It's quite flexible in that respect and goes into our IT infrastructure. The outputs are sent encrypted to various endpoints. Some are internal, and some are our clients, and it's encrypted at a high level. I do find Oracle OBIEE flexible. If there is stuff that's not in your model or schema, it's very flexible to create SQL scripts and create the data you want. It's quite nice to create a dashboard in OBIEE, and that's pretty straightforward in the way you drag and drop everything. You can create sections, and you can add elements to your page. That bit of the interface is relatively straightforward.""It has helped to consolidate data and report on a single version of the truth.""For me, it makes the difference is in terms of our users being able to take advantage of a product which allows you to get access to data, reports, make decisions quickly, and have better insights regarding operations.""The “Business Model & Mapping” layer in the Administration Tool, because the maintenance and evolution processes are greatly facilitated."

Cons
"It's wonky, and not super user-friendly with Excel.""It would have been better if the solution was not just a tool kit.""It's highly competitive right now, and all the vendors are in a race to put out new versions with additional features. IBM comes out with new versions too often, and it has an impact on quality.""The tool's transport layer could be improved when promoting development between environments.""The tool should include features for prediction. It can also improve the scalability.""It is a bit expensive, but it does the job.""Planning Analytics could be improved by adding automation features.""The local authentication part is difficult to manage in the product, making it an area where improvements are required."

"Warehouse and business intelligence are two different things, but OBIEE also has some warehouse features in it. I would like to see some of those capabilities improved.""The performance could be better.""While it is a user-friendly, data-driven tool, the data modeling should be easier to use.""They should develop greater visualization because their visualization isn't industry leading at the moment. The way you pull the data and see the data compared to other platforms, they're lagging a little bit behind. Also, their cost. I've got Oracle account managers trying to persuade me every day to purchase these licenses. Once you purchase OBIEE, then you have to purchase the virtualization and then you have to purchase the mobile license to operate on the mobile. It's really expensive.""The platform's data visualization features need improvement.""The drawback with the tool is that though it is well-created, its users are under-trained to use it.""When a large number of queries are running at the same time, the report fails.""We were not satisfied with the support, because we could not obtain answers or solutions."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."
