Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

"SevOne provides support for all universal connectors. They internally work with other data sources to get features implemented. We have an SD-WAN implementation and use other app data to monitor performance. If you pull that data into one centralized location, that is very useful for management.""The most valuable feature as of late has been the API integration with ServiceNow.""We have benefited mainly from the use of the dashboard interface. It makes the network visually interesting for other people who are not in the network. A lot of people are not network techies who understand streams in the network. Based on location, we have streams coming in and out. They can see visually when there is some problem. They don't need to understand all the network technology behind it to be able to understand if everything is working well or if there is a problem.""The out of the box reports and workflows are pretty good and they meet our requirements well.""In 90% of the cases, new devices are plug-and-play, so when a new version comes out then SevOne has support for it out of the box.""Scalability. I have never had to worry about how to handle really big environments.""The SMP and the xStats, which is for flat file integration, are both useful for integrating the various metrics that the device provides to monitor the performance of those systems.""I like the tool’s scalability and real-time reports. Earlier, we struggled to give real-time reports to clients. I also like the tool’s deployment model where we can deploy it either on-premises or in-house. We don’t have to carry the data all over the globe. Also, I am impressed with the tool's flow reporting and Wi-Fi."

More IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Pros →

"It's a flexible solution.""Its overall flexibility is most valuable. When our customers have some custom applications that are not necessarily covered by the community or a standard monitoring tool, we use Zabbix to build our own modules with our own templates. This feature has been useful in using Zabbix for infrastructure and IT monitoring. It has also been useful for industrial equipment monitoring. Zabbix is very lightweight. It is efficient in terms of performance because it doesn't use a lot of resources.""The solution's design has recently changed and it is visually pleasing with more color, for example, there is blue, black, and white.""We use it to monitor and manage our servers.""Zabbix is very easy to implement.""The most valuable feature is that it provides network segregation for server monitoring.""The performance and bandwidth are valuable features.""Dashboard and the customization of the items and triggers are the most valuable features."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"The user management features need to be improved. It would be nice if we had more granular control, or layers of control, out of the box.""High-frequency polling is data-intensive because you're pulling more. If SevOne could figure out a way to manage the impact of high-frequency polling on the system, that would be very popular.""The reports are easy to configure but they are a bit outdated in terms of appearance and visualization.""The tool needs improvement in non-Cisco SD-WAN.""NMS has several areas for improvement. It should be more user-friendly inside of NMS for some of the functionality in there. It's been getting better the last version or two, but the there have been bugs in there whenever I've gone to new versions.""The customizations are very hard. The person doing it has to be very good at analytics and has to be very good in all languages""The one area with room for improvement is probably administration. They added data insights to make a better user experience, but I'd like to see some improvements in the way the system's administered.""Software upgrades can be tricky is not easy."

More IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Cons →

"Zabbix is powerful, but it is difficult to understand initially. There are many things that can be improved, but we might not be using Zabbix to its fullest extent. The software has more features than we need.""The user interface could be better.""The integration of the product is not so easy, especially when it comes to the application database.""The reports are not great and should be improved.""The stability could be better.""An area for improvement would be the ease of doing aggregation from the value or different devices.""The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues.""If you want to use all of the features then you have to pay a licensing fee."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
