We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The pricing is excellent. It's much less expensive than Cisco.""The license management is very valuable. You can get a new license each year, or you can enroll every two to four years. You can get the logs, and you will get the information on the risk in your network and the entire organization. With this information, you can take action on your actives, computers, or devices. You can bring your own device as an SSE.""The reporting and monitoring are very good.""The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is load balancing. It can provide central management and VPNA. Additionally, it has enhanced our security environment.""FortiGate has a strong security topic which allows all of the Fortinet devices to communicate and share information which makes their security more powerful.""We've found the solution to be pretty stable.""It is easy to manage, and it doesn't need much knowledge from the team. It is a stable device, and there are many features that are included out of the box.""I like that you are able to manage FortiGate from the FortiManager to create a more centralized environment."

"It is easy for me to go in and update settings, make changes, or add/remove rules or security.""The initial setup is pretty simple.""The dashboard, customization, API, and pricing are good.""The product's scalability is good, and my company has 150 users.""We like the solution’s protocol and its dashboard system.""There are a few valuable features that offer very good quality on the solution. Especially NetScreen. We used to use NetScreen for the the product line. It was a very mature solution, very robust, easy to configure, easy to manage, etc. It made it easy to do everything.""The architecture of the OS in Juniper is very good. It's flexibility, scalability, and the technicality is also good.""The technical support has been good."

"We can open a new VPN connection easily. It's much easier than with Fortinet in our experience.""The most valuable feature is the Dual WAN in OPNSense, which offers advanced capabilities.""I have found the solution has some great features overall, such as guest access capabilities, dashboards, and ease of use. There is plenty of documentation and support and it has the plugins that I needed.""What I like the most about OPNsense is that it offers an easy-to-use dashboard for device management and control.""One of the most valuable features is the network checking. Additionally, the firewall and web filtering functionalities are highly useful.""The most valuable features in OPNsense are reporting and visibility.""It's more secure and more reliable.""The system in general is quite flexible."

Cons
"I would like to see better pricing in the next release, as well as a simplification of the installation.""The support structure needs to be improved because every time we contact them, there is a delay in the response.""The support we receive when we need to upgrade is not satisfactory and has room for improvement.""I think the only issue that needs improvement is the interface.""The solution could be more secure and stable.""Performance and technical support are the main issues with this solution.""The solution could have licensing fees reduced in the future.""FortiLink is the interface on the firewall that allows you to extend switch management across all of your switches in the network. The problem with it is that you can't use multiple interfaces unless you set them up in a lag. Only then you can run them. So, it forces you to use a core type of switch to propagate that management out to the rest of the switches, and then it is running the case at 200. It leaves you with 18 ports on the firewall because it is also a layer-three router that could also be used as a switch, but as soon as you do that, you can't really use them. They could do a little bit more clean up in the way the stacking interface works. Some use cases and the documentation on the FortiLink checking interface are a little outdated. I can find stuff on version 5 or more, but it is hard to find information on some of the newer firmware. The biggest thing I would like to see is some improvement in the switch management feature. I would like to be able to relegate some of the ports, which are on the firewall itself, to act as a switch to take advantage of those ports. Some of these firewalls have clarity ports on them. If I can use those, it would mean that I need to buy two less switches, which saves time. I get why they don't, but I would still like to see it because it would save a little bit of space in the server rack."

"I would like to see an activity sensor for malicious content or sensor for viruses and malware.""The solution can be improved by allowing automatic updates for the OS devices.""We have some weird errors and some weird behavior on the solution occasionally. The device gets buggy without anyone touching it. It would work and then suddenly stop. Sometimes you need to just move the cards out and restart it again, and it will work. The solution itself, the hardware and the software, there must be some bugs that need to be dealt with.""Some people complain that the solution tends to have a steep learning curve. It could be because most people have basic familiarity with Cisco or other similar products and maybe have never worked closely with Juniper products.""There are too many types of licenses, which can be confusing.""The solution's GUI needs improvement.""VPN access is an area that needs improvement.""Juniper vSRX is expensive."

More Juniper vSRX Cons →

"The solution would not be suitable for anything large-scale.""They should improve IPEs for security in the future.""The ability to set the VPN IP address would be a welcome addition.""I would like to see better SD-WAN performance.""There should be more technical documentation.""The support for OPNsense is good because we have documents available on the internet. The support could improve a little.""The logging could improve in OPNsense.""Given that OPNsense plays a pivotal role as a firewall, safeguarding against various threats, having a reliable backup ensures uninterrupted protection even if unforeseen events impact the primary virtual machine."
