Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of Pure Storage FlashArray is its high stability level.""I never have to worry about its performance or if it is the root cause of an issue.""The speed of the Pure FlashArray is very, very fast and nothing in the market can compare to it.""The data reduction technology part of the scalability has been impressive, like its ability to host additional workloads, volumes of data, and databases.""The solution has probably reduced my power use substantially.""I like its speed. It has all the features that I need.""Scalability is one of the best features. You can quickly add more. You can swap out the drives with larger sizes, you can add more shelves. All of that is perfect - the whole concept of keeping it modular...""The speed is the most valuable feature, along with the ease of getting it connected. We were able to get it online in less than a day."

"Ease of use: My installers - my administrators over the system - they love how easy and fast it is to install and spin up a LUN and get going.""Built-in snapshot support gives us SAN-side functionality most other platforms would have had us license separately.""It provides a full feature set without separate licensing (deduplication, compression, snapshot, asynchronous replication, stable performance, etc.).""Inline compression""The most valuable aspect is the use of solid-state storage drives instead of spinning drives.""Scale out is a differentiator for them, especially in the enterprise market. It's key for a lot of customers.""The ratio between the physical storage and the storage we use is very high.""Data reduction and snapshot abilities: Smaller footprint in the datacenter (lower cost for power, cooling, etc.)."

"The most valuable feature is the ability to continue our business needs and have higher visibility. It has definitely increased our business productivity levels.""Very good VCG notification feature.""The lower skill cost of maintaining it meant that we could do more with the people that we had.""It is easy to use. It is easy to implement for us, and it is also easy to maintain for the customers. It is not necessary to buy some extra devices and talk with other vendors.""VMware vSAN is easy to implement in a VMware environment and it is not expensive.""vSAN is integrated into VMware.""One of the most valuable features of this solution is that it is stable.""It is very well known in the industry, and there are a lot of technical resources around it. This is a big thing for me because, at the end of the day, when you implement it, you need to support it."

Cons
"The credentials on the iSCSI interface are only available to type in with the Chrome browser, and not with the Firefox browser.""The price should be lower.""The price of the solution can improve.""As partners, we should have the option to download the software, rather than have to go back through Pure to obtain it.""The connectivity needs improvement. You do not have the possibility to have a file and block connectivity at the same time on the same machine. It has limited ability to do so.""Self-backup is the only feature lacking in this solution.""They should work on their upgrades, they're not smooth.""It needs to improve its price."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"I would love to see capacity on its DRAM. I know it's not cost effective for them to do it, but I think that it could be a big differentiator and was a big differentiator from the beginning.""Some of the nice to haves for us, in terms of today, would be VVols but again, it’s not a critical feature.""The front panel of the drive shelf doesn't always seat firmly.""I think it should have better performance with small files. With big data, its performance is top notch, but it is difficult to load small files.""A single pane of glass to monitor/manage multiple arrays would be helpful.""Access to technical support should be improved for our region. Technical support is good, but they're very hard to access.""I would like them to improve the look of the product’s external casing and shelves.""I'm hoping to see Active Directory integration. Right now, you still have to use a local admin account to log in and manage everything."

More Kaminario K2 [EOL] Cons →

"If one node out of your ten nodes fails, it takes a lot of time to replicate and rebalance VMware vSAN. This time can be reduced. When a node fails and the data is not accessible, vSAN has to be rebalanced to make the redundancy level of two again. However, if it is taking a lot of time and any other hardware fails during that time, then we have a problem. Two disk failures mean that all data will be lost, and we may have to recover it from the backup. So, the number of threads that run to do the rebalancing could be more so that the time taken to make it fully redundant again is not so much.""The main problem we had was hardware compatibility, finding the right hardware that was certified.""vSAN does not have online dedup. When opening the inline dedupe, the performance will be lower than off inline.""The price can be reduced. Small businesses cannot afford this solution.""While I like the replication and compression features, there is a problem with them running too slowly.""Customers who are using Essentials Plus or even Essentials have to pay for technical support. However, they should not have to pay for support.""I think it needs to be more cost-effective. I would also say that even though the capacity is good, there is also room for improvement there. Also, they could improve the security of the system.""I would like to see replication as part of it. I would also like to see direct file access, being able to run SIF shares and NFS and the like. I think that would be critical to continuing the use of it going forward."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

Kaminario K2 is the world’s only storage solution that delivers the predictability needed to handle the highly unpredictable world of modern businesses. This highly flexible all flash storage platform allows customers to cost-effectively scale capacity and performance to support their ever-changing business –seamlessly, on-demand and with no disruptions.
