Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Sentinel uses Azure Logic Apps for automation, which is really powerful. This allows us to easily automate responses to incidents.""There are a lot of things you can explore as a user. You can even go and actively hunt for threats. You can go on the offensive rather than on the defensive.""The most valuable feature is the performance because unlike legacy SIEMs that were on-premises, it does not require as much maintenance.""It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""The best functionality that you can get from Azure Sentinel is the SOAR capability. So, you can estimate any type of activity, such as when an alert was triggered or an incident was found.""Investigations are something really remarkable. We can drill down right to the raw logs by running different queries and getting those on the console itself.""The dashboard that allows me to view all the incidents is the most valuable feature.""Its inbuilt Kusto Query Language is a valuable feature. It provides the flexibility needed to leverage advanced data analytics rules and policies and enables us to easily navigate all our security events in a single view. It helps any user easily understand the data or any security lags in their data and applications."

"It basically helps us. We have to stay in compliance with certain issues with some of our customers. We have to have these types of tools in place for protecting our network and our data. We're in the aerospace industry, so we have a lot of defense contracts. So, all those guys will make sure that we're protecting their information, and it does a good job in that aspect.""The deployment is quite simple and pretty straightforward.""We haven't had any stability issues.""The product is very user-friendly.""The reports that you can run are really nice.""ManageEngine Log360 is not difficult to deploy.""The Sharecon feature is the most valuable.""It is nice to be able to monitor and to have notifications."

"The MITRE ATT&CK correlation is most valuable.""The product is easy to customize.""The most valuable features are the modules and metrics.""Wazuh is free and easy to use. It is also adjustable, and we can use it on the cloud and on-premises.""Wazuh offers numerous features, such as the ability to define custom rules for detecting malicious activities and remembering behaviors.""Some of the strengths of Wazuh that stand out for us include its scalability when deployed on Azure, its open-source nature, which allows for customization based on our needs, and its compatibility with various security solutions like threat intelligence platforms.""Wazuh's most beneficial features for our security needs are flexibility, built-in rules, integration capabilities, and documentation.""I like that the solution is on top of the Kubernetes stack."

Cons
"It has been a challenge with Azure Sentinel to onboard the Syslog server from FortiGate. Azure Sentinel can work better on that shift between the Syslog server and a firewall.""Documentation is the main thing that could be improved. In terms of product usage, the documentation is pretty good, but I'd like a lot more documentation on Kusto Query Language.""We'd like to see more connectors.""They should just add more and more out-of-the-box connectors. It is quite a new product, and it has a lot of connectors, and even more would be good.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""The KQL query does not function effectively with Windows 11 machines, and in the majority of machine-based investigations, KQL queries are essential for organizing the data during investigations.""I would like to see more AI used in processes.""Sentinel should be improved with more connectors. At the moment, it only covers a few vendors. If I remember correctly, only 100 products are supported natively in Sentinel, although you can connect them with syslog. But Microsoft should increase the number of native connectors to get logs into Sentinel."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"On the logging system, there's a local on-client side that is encrypted, and there's one that is not encrypted. It is only for diagnostical purposes. However, both being encrypted would be very valuable for some audits.""The matter of the data retention needs to be addressed.""The graphical interface could be made easier to use when you are connecting to different network equipment.""It is not expensive compared to other solutions.""The integration with SharePoint and Teams should be improved.""The support needs improvement.""There is room for improvement, especially in the reporting aspect. The reports are not as good as those in Splunk.""It's difficult to find which conditions have been applied to a report because they are provided by default by ManageEngine. However, with other SIEMs if you want to create a report, they provide details, like which conditions are triggering certain reports. This needs to be there in ManageEngine. It would be good to know which parameter has been applied to the report that is updating the system."

More ManageEngine Log360 Cons →

"It would be great if there could be customization for the decoder portion.""I think that the next release should be more suitable for large enterprises, because currently they are not because large companies do not rely on open source solutions.""Since it's an open-source tool, scalability is the main issue.""There could be a hardware monitoring tool for the solution.""Wazuh needs more security and features, particularly visualization features and a health monitor.""Wazuh should come up with more in-built rules and integrations for the cloud.""The tool doesn't detect anomalies or new environments.""A more structured approach, perhaps with modular UI components, to facilitate easier integration and navigation within the Wazuh platform for custom integrations would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "There is a cost for each feature used."
  • "Its pricing is definitely huge compared to some of the other SIEMs. Its price should be improved."
  • "My client has a yearly license. I think the cost is not expensive compared to that of other SIEMs, given the service it is providing."
  • "ManageEngine Log360 is expensive compared to other products."
  • "Affordable pricing is provided by the solution."

  • "Wazuh is open-source, so I think it's an option for a small organization that cannot go for enterprise-grade solutions like Splunk."
  • "There is not a license required for Wazuh."
  • "Wazuh is open-source, but you must consider the total cost of ownership. It may be free to acquire, but you spend a lot of time and effort supporting the product and getting it to a point where it's useful."
  • "Wazuh is open-source, therefore it is free. You can purchase support for $1,000 a year."
  • "Wazuh is totally free and open source. There are no licensing costs, only support costs if you need them."
  • "Wazuh has a community edition, and I was using that. It's free and open source."
  • "The current pricing is open source."
