Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution itself was easy to use.""I find the IT portfolio management very valuable and helpful.""We use the portfolio management feature heavily.""Every module sets up the same information in a unique repository.""What's most valuable in MEGA HOPEX is that it follows the reference model where each component is defined. I also like the diagram consistency in MEGA HOPEX.""The most valuable feature for this solution is the automatic updating and propagation of changes across the system.""The solution is scalable. If a company needs to expand it, it's completely possible to do so.""The most valuable feature is that the software controls everything from a single management window."

More MEGA HOPEX Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the ability to quickly build multiple layers within the organizational and business process environments, as well as in the SysML product environments, and converting to files that can be accessed by clients who do not have a system and a teamwork server access.""The beauty of MagicDraw is that it has a simulation part, so you can simulate your model to validate it. The simulation allows you to bring in code off of an external code that you can write to set up the simulation and execute the code.""It is pretty easy to use. It is pretty versatile.""When you look at it, No Magic is an all-encompassing tool. You can use it for business architecture design. You can use it for deploying an ERP system across your enterprise. However, it was initially designed and developed for model-based systems engineering. That's the systems engineering required to either produce an IP system or product. It takes away the mounds of paper and puts it into a model. It enables you to generate significant savings by modeling that new product or that system before you ever start developing a prototype.""The most valuable feature is the amount of flexibility that one has to model, which is great for an individual.""I think one of the key things is the plugins for integration with requirements management tools like Doors""The most valuable feature of No Magic MagicDraw is the simulation capabilities and interface.""The most valuable features are the visibility, standard compliance, and interface."

Cons
"The initial setup is a little complex.""Scalability can be a problem sometimes.""Standardization is lacking. The Operational Risk Function will be more effective if it at a default level follows established Basel standards for Loss categorization, Risk Assessments, Risk Event categorization, etc.""MEGA HOPEX's initial setup could be easier. The newer version is better but they still need to improve the process. The deployment took approximately four to eight hours.""MEGA HOPEX's problem is that it is expensive, but it's a fantastic tool.""The features are limited. I'm hoping in the future the solution will be bigger and include more items. Right now, overall, it needs more.""Lacking more out of the box integrations.""We have a very close relationship with MEGA representatives in Mexico, and we ask them why they don't offer impact analysis. For example, we have a server in the center and provide the client a view of what's in the peripheral area, like one cluster, application, process area, and services. We want to offer our clients that level of visibility with HOPEX."

More MEGA HOPEX Cons →

"It would be better if the User Interface were updated. At the moment, it's a classic environment. It reminds me of the old Windows interface, for example, Windows 95. It would be better to make it more user-friendly. It would also be better if it could integrate with SAP solutions. It isn't easy to find experts in the field. It's hard to find people around the globe that have the necessary skills and expertise to manage this solution. For example, in our case, we needed someone with refrigeration knowledge that also knew how to use the tool, and that was a challenge. We also had issues relating to erasing. Sometimes, it kept it in the background and didn't erase it at all. We had to review the entire list to ensure that the item was deleted.""It's very focused on specific modern languages and it doesn't do necessarily general systems software engineering with diagrams. They should expand the diagram types for the languages.""The UI UX of the tool is not really user-friendly and needs to be completely reformed.""The documentation for MagicDraw and the video tutorials compared to other competitors is an area for improvement.""I would like to see the ability to deploy live business process models and capture real-time data (without the need for another product tool) so you don't have to be dependent on other products for this functionality.""There are some technical features that you have to study and do research on to be able to understand.""When I am working with my Mac and I right-click to copy and paste, it doesn't work.""The price of the solution could be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If you want to use additional features, such as the Risk Management capability, then it is a little too expensive."
  • "It is very expensive."
  • "The price of the MEGA HOPEX license could improve, it is expensive. The license key for business process analysis and IT architecture is approximately €10,000. This price is fixed, it's not a subscription or cloud-based version. It is a one-time price."
  • "The price of the support depends on the vendors that are reselling this module or the MEGA HOPEX version 5. We are on premium support and are their only partners in the GCC, we have a premium support contract with them. The support we have is not with the client. The client does not bear the cost, it's us who bear the cost."
  • "I've been told that MEGA HOPEX is very expensive, which is why small organizations dismiss the tool. It's complex and costly versus other simpler and cheaper solutions."
  • "The product has a high cost."
  • "The tool is relatively expensive."
  • "The pricing depends on the number of licenses purchased."
  • More MEGA HOPEX Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "In addition to the initial cost, you have to pay annually for support in order to get the upgrades."
  • "I would say licensing would be anywhere from $3,500 to $6,500 per person or per seat (it's a per seat style license)."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis, and it's expensive."
  • "The price of No Magic MagicDraw could improve. The price of the solution is too expensive for smaller-sized companies. There should be a better pricing model."
  • "I rate the pricing a ten out of ten. It is an expensive product compared to software for model-based system engineering."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the MEGA HOPEX solution.

PeerSpot user Kayode A., Enterprise Architecture Consultant at ZealHosts Consulting, says, “What I find the most valuable is the process workflow. It is really good. The fact that you can decompose is also valuable, as is the file D structure. Also, the fact that you can have your own logical repository structure and you can drag and drop is very valuable. This is largely because of its intuitiveness. Once you understand the logic behind the tool, MEGA HOPEX is quite intuitive. I also like the ability to create custom reports. I like the fact that you can share repository content via web to other end users who are not architects.”

A Software Architect at a transportation company mentions, “The main feature that we like the most is the ability to have a unique repository where all the architects can interact and play together with the shapes of different architecture solutions. They have a unified repository where users can share the developments they're working on. Its availability is very good.”

An IT Consulting Manager at a tech services company comments, "We have many use cases for this solution but the feature I have found most valuable is the IT Portfolio Management module."

    Reviews from Real Users

No Magic MagicDraw stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are the way that it enables users to efficiently create models and the overall robustness of the solution. Users are given the ability to efficiently and accurately model the requirements of whatever it is that they are creating. No Magic MagicDraw provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with the solution.

PeerSpot user Wayne L., a Systems Engineer at SIMTRS, notes the way in which No Magic MagicDraw allows users to create models more efficiently. He writes, “We are getting away from the old ways of writing a lot of papers and requirements documents, architecture documents, technical solution documents, interface documents - those days are gone. MagicDraw allows you to model the requirements, and by doing so, you've got a good chance of not missing any requirements. The old way of doing things was to decompose the requirements into shell statements. But when you model it, you will be able to practically make sure you don't miss anything. MagicDraw has a good modeling tool you use for case diagrams. Its use case diagram is part of the UML and SysML that you can use to model requirements to create an architecture. I've created a lot of architectures for the Army and also mapped those components of the architecture as the test procedures.”

PeerSpot user Terry J., the president at I2R, Inc., notes the robustness of No Magic MagicDraw when he writes, "When you look at it, No Magic is an all-encompassing tool. You can use it for business architecture design. You can use it for deploying an ERP system across your enterprise. However, it was initially designed and developed for model-based systems engineering. That's the systems engineering required to either produce an IP system or product. It takes away the mounds of paper and puts it into a model. It enables you to generate significant savings by modeling that new product or that system before you ever start developing a prototype."
