We performed a comparison between Meraki Dashboard and Zabbix based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Despite the fact that Zabbix is free, Meraki Dashboard is the winner in this comparison. It is a robust and high-performing solution that received high marks for its single management pane. In contrast, Zabbix users feel that it isn’t very user-friendly.
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"Everything is in a single pane and you can look at your network in one centralized place."
"Great visibility on the dashboard."
"What I found most valuable in the Meraki Dashboard is straight monitoring of the different devices, as well as the ability to easily set up VPNs, for example, both Meraki client VPNs and non-Meraki VPNs for different organizations that work with my company. I also like that the tool is a really good firewall."
"The initial setup was easy."
"The ability of the product to perform with simplicity of deployment make it a valuable solution."
"The ability to view the entire project stack, including the camera, features, and routers, which I believe are the most important or relevant components."
"It's really user-friendly."
"We greatly utilize the network because we can plug it into the DNS, VPN, or equipment. It's very good. Meraki Dashboard enhances wireless network management. We appreciate its flexibility, as it allows for easy suite configuration. We can handle everything on there when there's a policy or any other requirement."
"The most valuable features in Zabbix are those that help us overcome bottlenecks in CPU usage, as well as reduce memory delay. I know that we have only reached the tip of the iceberg of what Zabbix's features can do for us, and we have not used all of them yet."
"Like other common Linux distributions, some of the most valuable features of this solution are the ease of use and deployment. It's simple and has a lot of packages and a lot of software."
"The most valuable feature is the support for monitoring Cisco switches."
"We detect problems before the customer does and before it actually happens using the predictive functions in Zabbix."
"Zabbix is scalable."
"The integration with third-party tools and the alerts are most valuable."
"The most valuable feature is the monitoring of virtual machines."
"Zabbix has a roadmap and they are continuously and frequently adding new features."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"The tool needs to incorporate more integration platforms. Integrating technical support features directly into the dashboard would be highly beneficial. This would allow technicians to troubleshoot issues more efficiently."
"I’d like the product to allow for other solutions to be integrated with the dashboard as well."
"I would like to receive decent notification alerts regarding the license's expiry. Or any help on correcting or optimizing licenses, because in certain circumstances you can add a license but it's the wrong licensing. However, the Dashboard adds the license in some way, and you do not utilize it. You can simply extend the license's expiration date."
"This solution can be quite complicated to configure and manage, unless you have a technical person with specific knowledge working on it."
"One area that could use improvement in the Meraki Dashboard is user-friendliness when navigating to port configurations."
"When users are trying to roam from one location to another location, geographical tracking would be helpful."
"Third-party switches do not necessarily integrate easily with the system and this could be improved to allow for better adaptation."
"If I am a user and I have a seat on the fourth floor, if I move across the building, the system should be able to track me and should be able to figure out my whereabouts or my position within the building if I'm connected to the wireless. That would make the administrator's life easier in terms of reachability."
"I would like for this solution to be more cloud-friendly."
"I would like to better be able to monitor Oracle processes."
"We would like to monitor other touchpoints such as ATM machines. It would be great if it can provide monitoring of ATM machines. Compatibility with other products would also be great."
"Zabbix isn't a great tool for cloud-specific monitoring - its connection to public clouds needs to be improved. Other areas for improvement would be the lack of dashboards and integrations."
"When we have a problem, we have to do a lot of research to solve it."
"Zabbix can use better documentation and support for troubleshooting."
"An area for improvement would be the ease of doing aggregation from the value or different devices."
"The user web interface is a little bit too basic, we need to link Zabbix to Grafana to have more options, such as graphs and charts. The interface needs to be improved. Additionally, there could be better integration with Grafana API."
