Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft Defender has a feature to protect each and every attachment. Even if it's an encrypted attachment, it will check for any potential threats.""The risk level notifications are most valuable. We get to know what kind of intrusion or attack is there, and we can fix a problem on time.""I would say that 90% of the spam and phishing attack emails get blocked right off the bat.""The initial setup was easy.""Threat Explorer is one of the features that I very much like because it is a real-time report that allows you to identify, analyze, and trace security attacks.""The technical support is good and quick to resolve issues.""The product's scalability is good.""There are several features that I consider valuable."

"Provides good exfiltration, and is an all-in-one product.""I recommend this solution because of its ease of use.""It stops in excess of twenty-five malware events per month, all of which could be critical to the business.""Its greatest strength is the DXL client which can rapidly disseminate attack information to all clients via the McAfee Agent instead of going through the ePO server.""The most valuable features are the administration console and its detection and response module.""It is very scalable.""It is stable and reliable."

Cons
"Microsoft sometimes has downtime, and we'll get several incidents coming in back to back. We have a huge backlog of notifications, many of which may be false positives. However, there might be serious alerts, so we can't risk dismissing all of them at once.""Configuration requires going to a lot of places rather than just accessing one tab.""Microsoft security solutions work as expected. They are constantly updating the solutions to make them better. At the same time, the changes can impact a customer's environment, and we need to adjust settings. Sometimes we aren't aware of the changes, and nothing is pushed from the backend automatically.""The only thing they should improve is the licensing model. They should stop changing it. A year ago, the five features I mentioned were included in one product. Now, three of them are bundled into one product, and you have to pay extra for the other two. I don't mind paying extra, but I don't want them to change it every year or every six months. I need to know what I'm looking at and not worry about it next year.""There is room for improvement with the UI.""There needs to be an improvement in integrating the product to work across multiple operating systems, and to have better support for non-Microsoft file types.""Microsoft should provide more documentation for users so they can self-educate. I would like to see more documentation for advanced security features.""There is room for improvement in terms of reporting."

More Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Cons →

"There could be a tool that automatically updates all-new Microsoft IPs, which are available for free to connect to the client.""This solution needs to be made "cloud ready".""I would like to see future versions of the solution incorporate artificial intelligence technology.""Make the ATD system a part of the whole product and take the whole thing onto the cloud. While it is there already, it is not to the same level as the on-premise version.""We'd like them to be better at dealing with script threats.""Lacks remote capabilities not dependent on the internet.""The initial setup was industry standard complex. It takes awhile and has a lot of planning involved. It could be simplified with product redesign."
