We performed a comparison between Barracuda CloudGen Firewall and Palo Alto Networks WildFire based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Netgate, Fortinet, OPNsense and others in Firewalls."FortiGate is on the cheaper end, and it offers good value."
"The features that we have found most valuable are the SSL VPN and the User Portal."
"The main benefit is the grouping of our security monitoring."
"The next-gen features, the unified threat management capabilities are something that just about everybody is interested in at this point."
"The scalability is good in Fortinet FortiGate."
"The management console is pretty simple, so anyone who understands networking can initially deploy the solution."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is the simple configuration."
"The most valuable features are the enterprise modeling and the simple interface."
"TINA (Transport Independent Network Architecture) VPN features - Allows automatic VPN configuration with little or no input from the tech. Drag and drop lines between Barracuda units and the VPN is built automatically."
"If an employee tries to get or move a file that is not permitted to them - for example if he wants to copy it to a USB - he will not have the right to do that, because Barracuda manages who has the right to copy, and what you copy to a USB. The USB is encrypted with a specific code from Barracuda and will only be decrypted into any other laptop in the company if they allow it to see it."
"Barracuda is very prompt at blocking any new spam which comes out."
"When you are sending information to an external email address, Barracuda can warn you when you are trying to access a private or personal email, or trying to upload information and not allow you to do that."
"If you have multiple offices, all inter-connected via the internet, you want a single management console through which you can manage all you firewalls. In that case Barracuda could be a good option."
"One of the big benefits of the product is that it allows you to manage big environments with fewer resources."
"Their GPS possibilities and the security that it has, especially the SD-WAN functionality, is very good."
"Enables us to define user application-level access, so our customers can work anytime from anywhere."
"The most effective feature of WildFire for threat analysis is its collaboration with other security profiles on our Palo Alto firewall."
"A good tool for file scanning and email threat detection, especially when it comes to attachments and communications."
"I like the analysis they apply to the unknown files, and I think they have good technology to use as a sandboxing tool. I didn't find something similar to WildFire in the marketplace."
"Intuitive threat prevention and analysis solution, with a machine learning feature. Scalable, stable, and protects against zero-day threats."
"Scalable ATP solution that's quick to set up. It demonstrates good performance and stability."
"For example, if a security Intel threat talks about an IOC. We can then go to our MSP and say, "Is there a signature for this particular type of malware that just came out?" And if they'll say yes, then we'll say, "Okay. Does it apply to these firewalls? And have we seen any hits on it?" There's absolutely value in it."
"What I like about Palo Alto is that it is a complete product, with everything in it."
"Their technical support is outstanding and top-notch."
"Technical support could be better. You don't always get the level of help you need right away."
"I would like Fortinet to add more automation to FortiGate."
"One issue that I have had is that sometimes I need to monitor the traffic, so I need to filter it according to the user and which user is using it the most. I experience a bottleneck most of the time, particularly at the peak time when the number of contracts and users are at maximum."
"I would like to see more advanced developments of a wireless controller in the future."
"I would like to see improvements with the antivirus and IPS as they are not working properly all the time."
"I feel that the reporting needs to be improved."
"We had some issues in the beginning while setting it up, but after doing the firmware update, it is working fine."
"The logging details need to be improved."
"The features are a bit limited compared to other vendors."
"When you do any commit, it locks your next access. If you are making a change to the device, from the security standpoint it's fine, but from the admin side it's not good. When you make changes, after each and every one it becomes locked."
"The analytics are weak."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly dashboard and an easier interface."
"Command line could be more user friendly."
"The biggest issue that I have with this solution is that it is not super intuitive. Once you know what to do, things make sense, but you can't just open the program and start doing things. It would be great if there was a little bit more guided usage inside the program."
"They have a very complicated interface. It's very hard to learn."
"Can be underpowered if you choose to use all available add-on features. Just be careful when sizing your unit. Make sure you take into account what features you will be turning on, and work with your sales rep to get the model that can handle that load."
"High availability features are lacking."
"Our main concern is that everything has to be synced with the WildFire Cloud and has to be checked through the subscription."
"The initial setup was complex."
"The cost of the solution is excessively high."
"In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of Palo Alto Networks WildFire, each release is based on malware that has been identified. The key problem is an average of six months from the time malware is written to the time it's discovered and a signature is created for it. The only advice that I can give is for them to shorten that timeframe. I don't know how they would do it, but if they shorten that, for example, cut it in half, they'll make themselves more famous."
"The only complaint that we receive from our customers is in regards to the price."
"The automation and responsiveness need improvement."
"It would be nice if there was an easier way to install and deploy it, such as through the inclusion of wizards."
