We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What's most valuable in Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is that it's useful for these activities: test designing, test planning, and test execution.""The most valuable feature of Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is its support for many automation technologies.""Micro Focus ALM Quality Center is quite stable.""Cross project customization through template really helps to maintain standards with respect to fields, workflows throughout the available projects.""ALM is a well-known product and is one of the pioneers in providing test management facilities with a 360 degree view of requirements.""So the first impression that hits me about HP UFT 14.0 (formerly QTP) is that it seems to be a whole lot faster! But that could be subjective, as I'm running it on a high end gaming system.""I like that it integrates with the Jira solutions.""Having used the tool before, I like the use of parameters, being able to do exports and reports of the data for monitoring of executions, and the defect management as well. I feel satisfaction in that area."

"I personally like PTC Integrity because it provides everything within the software. You can store and access your data and perform various tasks. Compared to other products, I find it user-friendly, which can sometimes feel complex. I think PTC Integrity is user-friendly, making it nice to use. The tool is easier to learn.""Complete traceability as per process requirements.""We have been using it because it gives certain abilities in the automotive industry, such as auditing or keeping track of information.""We found the requirement management and the version control features to be the most useful for our client.""The tool is quite structured and has a good command set.""It's a good tool to manage software versions, update the status, and manage tasks.""PTC Integrity has good stability.""The solution is flexible in terms of customization. You can bend and reformat it in many ways. You can also customize the APIs and public functions."

Cons
"Micro Focus ALM Quality Center should improve the reports. Reporting on tax execution progress against the plan. However, they might have improved over two years since I have used the solution.""The UFT tests don't work very well and it seems to depend on things as simple as the screen resolution on a machine that I've moved to.""HP-QC does not support Agile. It is designed for Waterfall. This is the number one issue that we're facing right now, which is why we want to look for another tool. We're a pharmaceutical services company, so we require electronic signatures in a tool, but this functionality isn't available in HP-QC. We don't have 21 CFR, Part 11, electronic signatures, and we need compliant electronic signatures. Some of the ALM tools can toggle between tabular format and document format for requirements, but the same feature is not available in this solution. There is also no concept of base-lining or versioning. It doesn't exist.""If the solution could create a lighter, more flexible tool with more adaptability to new methodologies such as agile, it would be great.""It is nice, but it does have some weaknesses. It's a bit hard to go back and change the requirement tool after setup.""Client-side ActiveX with patch upgrades""There needs to be improvement in the requirement samples. At the moment, they are very basic.""The solution needs to offer support for Agile. Currently, ALM only supports Waterfall."

"There are not enough reports. People would like to see something similar to what is available in JIRA.""For complex businesses, the internal templates could have more flexibility and compatibility.""It's not easy to plan on this solution and it's not user-friendly. The interface should be more like a web interface. It's not easy to use.""To be honest, the third controller system is kind of old. There are lots of transactional changes that have not been implemented in PTC. If you have a larger project, for example, whenever you give bits and need to change 10,000 files you can just commit them. But here the work style is a little more file based, so you'll have to take care of almost all the files individually. It's not a single commit like you do here, but rather you have to allocate time for each component or file that you want to check in or commit. That's a very big issue.""It's not so customizable. Compared to other tools, defining user stories is a slightly more cumbersome process as an ALM engineer.""The tool's web-based UI needs improvement. Some functionalities don't work yet, and querying items is slow. Also, it's not in the cloud yet. I don't know if they'll do it in the future because they already have core agreements with customers. If they offer these functionalities, customers will likely buy their product.""We are unhappy because everything that we needed required customization and this is not a plug-and-play type of solution at all.""I would like to see better integration from the architectural side."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
  • "If you have more than five users, a concurrent licensing model should be considered."
  • "For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
  • "The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
  • "HPE has one of the most rigid, inflexible, and super expensive license models."
  • "Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
  • "Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
  • "I feel that the licenses are expensive. "
