We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of the most valuable features is that it creates a kind of a single pane of glass for organizations that already use Microsoft software. So, when they have things like Microsoft 365, it is very easy for them to kind of plug in or enroll those endpoints into the Azure Sentinel service.""Sentinel also enables you to ingest data from your entire ecosystem and not just from the Microsoft ecosystem. It can receive data from third-party vendors' products such firewalls, network devices, and antivirus solutions. It's not only a Microsoft solution, it's for everything.""The UI-based analytics are excellent.""Sentinel's most important feature is the ability to centralize all the logs in one place. There's no need to search multiple systems for information.""The main benefit is the ease of integration.""The AI and ML of Azure Sentinel are valuable. We can use machine learning models at the tenant level and within Office 365 and Microsoft stack. We don't need to depend upon any other connectors. It automatically provisions the native Microsoft products.""Mainly, this is a cloud-native product. So, there are zero concerns about managing the whole infrastructure on-premises.""We can use Sentinel's playbook to block threats. It covers all of the environment, giving us great visibility."

"The security level that they are maintaining with the pre-authentication keys is very good."

More Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service Pros →

"This solution can completely detect and prevent incidents on your network.""We had used previous products and found AlienVault centralized the logging for our security.""The IDS and the threat intelligence are very useful. They are very intuitive and data-rich.""AT&T AlienVault USM is good for ELK Stack, the user experience is great because of its architecture. The ELK has a great performance and it has very good speed in the search and Kibana. Additionally, the visuals and dashboards and very nice and customizable.""AlienVault's reporting is good. I like that vulnerability assessment is part of the solution, and the UI is intuitive. Also, the overhead is low, which is to say we don't need a dedicated SOC team to manage and analyze things constantly. We're a small company that doesn't have those resources.""Ease of deployment across various environments.""The best feature of this product is the ease of use. It is extremely easy to set up and get going. This is a very useful tool for a small organization.""As we have to service several servers, we can manage them in a economical way, which is beneficial to our team and business."

Cons
"I would like to be able to monitor applications outside of the Azure Cloud.""Microsoft Sentinel is relatively expensive, and its cost should be improved.""Sentinel should be improved with more connectors. At the moment, it only covers a few vendors. If I remember correctly, only 100 products are supported natively in Sentinel, although you can connect them with syslog. But Microsoft should increase the number of native connectors to get logs into Sentinel.""The playbook development environment is not as rich as it should be. There are multiple occasions when we face problems while creating the playbook.""When we pass KPIs to the governance department, there's no option to provide rights to the data or dashboard to colleagues. We can use Power BI for this, but it isn't easy or convenient. They should just come up with a way to provide limited role-based access to auditing personnel""The product can be improved by reducing the cost to use AI machine learning.""There is a wider thing called Jupyter Notebooks, which is around the automation side of things. It would be good if there are playbooks that you can utilize without having to have the developer experience to do it in-house. Microsoft could provide more playbooks or more Jupyter Notebooks around MITRE ATT&CK Framework.""They should just add more and more out-of-the-box connectors. It is quite a new product, and it has a lot of connectors, and even more would be good."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The solution could improve by providing better documentation for beginners to learn, such as videos or other tutorials."

More Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service Cons →

"Different functions to customize reports should be added.""I've been using it just for my own personal upskilling in terms of how the product works. At the moment, it is pretty straightforward and simple, and it is working how it is supposed to. The feedback would come once it is deployed to customer sites. They'll be using it on a more frequent basis, and that's when the feedback would come in terms of the areas in which they're facing issues or are looking for simplicity.""For creating new rules, you have to be familiar with regular expressions. I feel there could be something built-in to make sure that process is easier.""AT&T AlienVault USM can improve searchable data. It should be available for more than 90 days. If you need more than 90 days of data, you have to put a request and they give you raw data, which is not easy to search. A good addition would be to allow users to search data older than 90 days.""The solution is a bit complicated. It could be simplified quite a bit.""As this software is in the cloud, you do not have control on updates and general changes which are happening.""The reporting is mediocre and is something that needs to be improved.""AlienVault needs to continue to integrate with other third-party technologies that clients want to have monitored."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."
  • More Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "AlienVault is flexible on their pricing for unlimited licenses."
  • "Pricing is very competitive with other products and you get much more functionality from AlienVault."
  • "QRadar, ArcSight and Splunk are some of the most expensive SIEM products out there in the market and not everyone has the budget to buy them. In such cases, AV USM is a very cost effective alternative."
  • "Do the one month trial and try to work out the kinks during it, as it has free support and service hours."
  • "We checked out several competitors. For what it can do and the cost, it was the best option!"
  • "Use the AlienVault team. They are helpful and the documentation that they provide is second to none."
  • "The price point is good."
  • "It has good pricing."
