Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can configure several types of architecture for high availability or load balancing.""It provides us with proactive monitoring and is very easy to configure and maintain.""The administration of the console is very easy. I like that Pandora FMS is interactive and easy to manage.""The monitoring system within this solution is very good. It is easy to use and navigate, and makes issue alarms easily viewable.""The most valuable feature is that it is an all-in-one monitoring system.""Features I have found most valuable with Pandora are the personalized metrics and the simplicity of data.""It is easy to create your own custom modules if you just know a little bit of scripting. If you have unique requirements, you can just make your own modules. You can even grab checks from other vendors. There are open-source checks for various things such as SMTP, etc. There is a long list of different ones from Nagios. You can just use them, and within seconds, you get yourself a check that is monitoring whatever you need. It is really flexible. I guess that's why they call it Pandora Flexible Monitoring System (FMS). It is reliable. It does the job, and it alerts. It is also surprisingly feature-rich. Our network guy just recently asked about a particular protocol to monitor the bandwidth on the network, which is not a common protocol. When I looked it up, and I found that they cover it. It is very mature for a not-so-known product.""The solution is so lightweight that with only 4GB of ram, it allows keeping track of up to two hundred agents from a single console."

"Good for monitoring, active response, and for vulnerabilities.""Wazuh offers numerous features, such as the ability to define custom rules for detecting malicious activities and remembering behaviors.""I like the features we use, including malware detection, inventory, detection of hidden processes, and activity logs. Inventory is probably the most important feature. It tells us when processes and packages were installed and what they are, which is helpful.""The most valuable feature of Wazuh is the ELK for doing an investigation.""My company implemented Wazuh because it was relatively inexpensive. They could quickly get their hands on it to check a box for some audit and compliance.""Its cost-effectiveness is the most valuable aspect.""Wazuh's best features are syscheck, its ability to immediately resolve vulnerabilities, and that it's open source.""The main thing I like about it is that it has an EDR."

Cons
"I find that this software is resource heavy, and demands a lot of processing capacity.""In the future, we may have double the number of devices, and we do not want to have any issues with performance in the data display.""Pandora could deliver better analytics out of the box. You can work around these limitations with the help of other tools like Grafana. The shortcomings are mostly on the graphical side. The built-in report generators are a bit limited in some areas.""We would like the real-time monitoring of an interface to be improved within this solution.""It would be helpful to include the generation of reports for times that the network was out of service.""Third-party integration should be improved for some commonly used products.""It would be useful if Pandora FMS included an ISO image (or «software appliance») for each big company that leases virtual private machines (VPS), just like in AWS.""A nice feature in the next release would be an automation module to run workflow actions."

More Pandora FMS Cons →

"Alerts should be specific rather than repeatedly triggered by integrating multiple factors. This issue needs improvement to create a more efficient alert system.""The biggest part that's missing is threat intelligence. It isn't inbuilt, and if a sudden incident occurs, we don't get that feedback inside the SIEM tool. That's a big gap, I see. It would be better if we could get the threat intelligence feeds integrated with the SIEM tools. That would help us push value solutions to the clients in a big way.""Scalability is a constraint in the on-prem version of Wazuh in terms of the volume of logs we can manage.""The technical support can be improved. Wazuh has some bugs that need to be fixed. It would be good if we can have automation with respect to incidence responses.""The implementation is very complex.""I have yet to find the same capability in Wazuh to get logs from different sources into the system""The tool does not provide CTI to monitor darknet.""While it is scalable, it can suffer from reduced latencies."

  • "You get the license and it includes updates, new versions, and access to the complete library of modules."

  • "In terms of money, the Enterprise version is the cheapest that I have found after a market study."
  • "The open-source version offers 100% functionality and the hardware requirements for a solution like this one are very modest."

It is a free and open-source platform that is used for threat detection, incident response and compliance, and integrity monitoring. Wazuh is capable of protecting workloads across virtualized, on-premises, containerized, and cloud-based environments.

It consists of an endpoint security agent and a management server. Additionally, Wazuh is fully integrated with the Elastic Stack, allowing users the ability to navigate through security alerts via a data visualization tool.
