We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is a scalable solution.""It can scale.""As long as you pick the solution that best fits with your requirements, you won't find that performance is a problem. It's good.""I have found it to be a very good, stable, and strong product.""One of the most valuable features was the ability to integrate multiple source systems that mainly used structured IDBMS versions.""Qlik Compose is good enough. It is user-friendly and intuitive.""I like modeling and code generation. It has become a pretty handy tool because of its short ideation to delivery time. From the time you decide you are modeling a data warehouse, and once you finish the modeling, it generates all the code, generates all the tables. All you have to do is tick a few things, and you can produce a fully functional warehouse. I also like that they have added all the features I have asked for over four years.""One of the most valuable features of this tool is its automation capabilities, allowing us to design the warehouse in an automated manner. Additionally, we can generate Data Lifecycle Policies (DLP) reports and efficiently implement updates and best practices based on proven design patterns."

"In SSIS, the scope is not only to handle ETL challenges, but it will allow us to do so many other tasks, such as DBA activities, scripting, calling any .exe or scripts, etc.""SSIS provides you with lookup and transformation functions, and you have the flexibility to write your own custom code.""The main value of any Microsoft product is the ease of use. You can achieve more with less time. That's what's beneficial for me. With many competitors, you might need to spend more time coming up with a solution because you have to focus on taking care of the product.""It is easily scheduled and integrates well with SQL Server and SQL Server Agent jobs.""It has good data integration and good processes.""It's saved time using visualization descriptions.""Overall, it's a good product.""The debugging capabilities are great, particularly during data flow execution. You can look into the data and see what's going on in the pipeline."

Cons
"For more complex work, we are not using Qlik Compose because it cannot handle very high volumes at the moment. It needs the same batching capabilities that other ETL tools have. We can't batch the data into small chunks when transforming large amounts of data. It tries to do everything in one shot and that's where it fails.""I'd like to have access to more developer training materials.""Qlik's ETL and data transformation could be better.""I believe that visual data flow management and the transformation function should be improved.""There should be proper documentation available for the implementation process.""My issues with the solution's stability are owing to the fact that it has certain bugs causing issues in some functionalities that should be working.""The solution has room for improvement in the ETL. They have an ETL, but when it comes to the monitoring portion, Qlik Compose doesn't provide a feature for monitoring.""It would be better if the first level of technical support were a bit more technically knowledgeable to solve the problem. I think they could also improve the injection of custom scripts. It is pretty difficult to add additional scripts. If the modeling doesn't give you what you want, and you want to change the script generated by the modeling, it is a bit more challenging than in most other products. It is very good with standard form type systems, but if you get a more complicated data paradigm, it tends to struggle with transforming that into a model."

"Involving a data lake or data engineering aspects would be useful. While it is there, we need more features included.""The interface could use improvement, as well as the administrative tools. Jobs fail from time to time for different reasons. It's not a problem with Microsoft, or SSIS itself. The problems are external, but to find the problems and analyze them it takes too much time.""There were some issues when we tried to connect it to data storage. It was a connection issue.""Improvement as per customer requirements.""We would like the solution to be expanded so that it is available for other platforms than just Microsoft.""The debugging could be improved because when it came to solving the errors that I've experienced in the past, I've had to look at the documentation for more information.""It hangs a lot of the time.""We have issues with SSIS connectors while extracting data from Excel sources."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is very expensive, I rate the solution a six."
  • "The price of the solution is expensive."
  • "While they outperform Tableau, there's room for improvement in Qlik's pricing structures, especially for corporate clients like us."
  • More Qlik Compose Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "This solution has provided an inexpensive tool, and it is easy to find experienced developers."
  • "My advice is to look at what your configuration will be because most companies have their own deals with Microsoft."
  • "This solution is included with the MSSQL server package."
  • "It would be beneficial if the solution had a less costly cloud offering."
  • "Based on my experience and understanding, Talend comes out to be a little bit expensive as compared to SSIS. The average cost of having Talend with Talend Management Console is around 72K per region, which is much higher than SSIS. SSIS works very well with Microsoft technologies, and if you have Microsoft technologies, it is not really expensive to have SSIS. If you have SQL Server, SSIS is free."
  • "We have an enterprise license for this solution."
  • "It comes bundled with other solutions, which makes it difficult to get the price on the specific product."
  • "All of my clients have this product included as part of their Microsoft license."

Technology has made it easier for businesses to organize and manipulate data to get a clearer picture of what’s going on with their business. Notably, ETL tools have made managing huge amounts of data significantly easier and faster, boosting many organizations’ business intelligence operations There are many third-party vendors offering ETL solutions, but two of the most popular are PowerCenter Informatica and Microsoft SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services). Each technology has its advantages but there are also similarities on how they carry out the extract-transform-load processes and only differ in terminologies. If you’re in the process of choosing ETL tools and PowerCenter Informatica and Microsoft SSIS made it to your shortlist, here is a short comparative discussion detailing the differences between the two, as well as their benefits. Package Configuration Most enterprise data integration projects would require the capacity to develop a solution in one platform and test and deploy it in a separate environment without having to manually change the established workflow. In order to achieve this seamless movement between two environments, your ETL technology should allow the dynamic update of the project’s properties using the content or a parameter file or configuration. Both Informatica and SSIS support this functionality using different methodologies. In Informatica, every session can have more than one source and one or more destination connections.
