Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Some of the key features of the solution is that it has good reporting, you can receive many details from the connection, for example, clients and website information.""It has very easy management and an amazing ETM configuration.""Fortinet FortiGate is scalable for our users. Right now, we have almost 70 users. We do not have any plan to increase our usage of FortiGate. For maintaining the firewall solution, one staff member is enough.""We can detect any attack of viruses or malware at the first point of contact.""The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the ability to work in proxy mode, which other solutions, such as Palo Alto cannot. There are some features that are better that come at no extra license or subscriptions cost, such as basic SD-WAN. The DLT is useful, other solutions have the same feature too, such as Palo Alto.""A strong point of FortiGate is that the graphical interface is complete and easy to use, especially if we think there is a list of operations that we are able to perform inside.""The main benefit is the grouping of our security monitoring.""The most valuable feature is the bundled subscription, which is IPS, TV and web filtering."

"We've found the technical support to be helpful.""While the features are not dissimilar to other brands, configuration is much more simple, which works out great for Indonesian people.""The stability of Sangfor NGAF is good.""The most valuable features are the WAN optimization, the internet access gateway (IAG), and the central console, which allows us to implement on their firewall.""Sangfor NGAF specializes in ransomware detection and helps to protect our network from ransomware threats and malware.""It seems to be a durable, stable product.""Sangfor is a good solution that provides a WAF and firewall solution. Most other vendors, like Sophos and Fortinet and Cisco, only provide one solution. That's a valuable feature of Sangfor.""Sangfor NGAF works accordingly with our customers. The solution has good performance, easy to use, and integrates well with the endpoints."

"It's easy to deploy and connect.""The solution is stable and reliable.""Compared to other products, Sophos XGS is a user-friendly solution.""It's easy to use and user-friendly.""The most valuable features of Sophos XGS are a set of functionalities that are quite commendable, they call it synchronized security, where all the solutions share defense lines with each other.""I like the Sophos UI. It interface has a more comfortable feel than the competitors.""The initial setup is straightforward.""The solution is stable."

Cons
"They need to improve their technical support.""I would like to see a more intuitive dashboard.""We would like to see an upgrade to the VPN feature, we are using the VPN from outside of our office and there is a limitation to 10 connections, more connections would be suitable.""WAN load-balancing could be a lot better at detecting when a link is poor or inconsistent, and not just flat out dead.""I don't really have anything negative to say as far as Fortinet firewalls are concerned. If anything, they can support a user a little bit better. They can stop being so time-sensitive about how much time the support call has taken, and they can help you do it yourself.""FortiLink is the interface on the firewall that allows you to extend switch management across all of your switches in the network. The problem with it is that you can't use multiple interfaces unless you set them up in a lag. Only then you can run them. So, it forces you to use a core type of switch to propagate that management out to the rest of the switches, and then it is running the case at 200. It leaves you with 18 ports on the firewall because it is also a layer-three router that could also be used as a switch, but as soon as you do that, you can't really use them. They could do a little bit more clean up in the way the stacking interface works. Some use cases and the documentation on the FortiLink checking interface are a little outdated. I can find stuff on version 5 or more, but it is hard to find information on some of the newer firmware. The biggest thing I would like to see is some improvement in the switch management feature. I would like to be able to relegate some of the ports, which are on the firewall itself, to act as a switch to take advantage of those ports. Some of these firewalls have clarity ports on them. If I can use those, it would mean that I need to buy two less switches, which saves time. I get why they don't, but I would still like to see it because it would save a little bit of space in the server rack.""The solution could be more secure and stable.""The sniffing packets or packet captures, can be simplified and improved because it's a little confusing."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"An area for improvement would be the number of ports defined on the box. In the next release, I would like them to develop their provisioning stage of enrolling end devices.""The interface and user experience are horrible.""Our experience with its customer support was quite challenging.""I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions.""Lacks consistency in terms of filtering certain websites and applications.""The reporting and log management could be improved.""The support offered by the product has certain shortcomings where improvements are required. The knowledge levels and response time of the support team need improvement.""Sangfor could improve by providing better real-time reporting, as the current reports don't offer the level of detail we need, especially for runtime insights."

More Sangfor NGAF Cons →

"Sophos XGS could improve the price.""Support is great, however, it can always be improved.""The reporting could be better.""Sophos configurations are a bit complex.""Level one technical support is not good at all and needs to be improved.""We'd like an interface that can monitor everything.""I feel Sophos should add more telemetry data to its products...Right now, I think there are only less than a dozen vendors or OEMs supported by Sophos.""There are issues with some designs being able to work on high availability."
