We performed a comparison between Hyper-V and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: VMware VSphere is the winner in this comparison. It is easy to deploy, reliable, robust, and has excellent customer support. Hyper-V does come out on top in the pricing category, however.
"It is easy to use, and it is stable. It is a good solution."
"The replication, creation, and import wizard, as well as the integration with reporting tools, are the most useful features."
"The initial setup is not difficult at all. It is very easy."
"I like that it's easy to use."
"The solution is highly stable."
"The organization has realized the benefits on smaller data center space, power, cooling, etc. apart from the benefit that the virtualization layer brings in."
"Hyper-V improved the infrastructure drastically, not only from a performance perspective but from a control/administration view as well."
"The virtual SAN feature is helpful."
"It's extremely simple. Installing the ESXi is a piece of cake and then putting servers on there is really simple and having HA and building a cluster for our VM servers. It's very easy."
"It helps to automate the data replication and DR (disaster recovery)."
"The most valuable features of VMware vSphere are backup and recovery."
"The solution allows for very good virtualization."
"It makes managing your virtual servers easier and more centralized."
"vRealize Operations Manager is the most valuable feature, but it is not embedded in vSphere; it is a part of vSphere. It is used for forecasting and checking the consumption of CPU, memory, and other resources. It has the capability to do the forecast based on the history and give advice on consumption. VMware vSphere is easy to use and easy to implement. Its learning curve is not sharp. Any engineer with little or medium knowledge of hypervisors and virtualizations can implement vSphere with a few clicks."
"We have the possibility to move workloads to different locations."
"The solution is easy to use, user-friendly interface and has high availability features. When comparing it to other solutions it is more robust."
"There is a hard limitation of 20 gigs per file with Dropbox, so you've got to overcome that by chunking the zip files into something smaller and manageable."
"If I want to create a cluster of around five to 10 physical servers Hyper-V does not get integrated with any kind of virtual sense, such as vSense."
"The only issues we have had recently are with Windows updates that are built into the Windows server with Hyper-V."
"I am using this solution with E-Notes. I heard that there will be future improvements in integration of the E-notes systems. This would be very helpful."
"I think the setup for the Virtual Network Manager could be improved."
"Hyper-V needs to improve its support."
"There is a hard limitation of 20 gigs per file with Dropbox, so you've got to overcome that by chunking the zip files into something smaller and manageable."
"Storage via SMB3."
"The implementation of VMware vSphere is easy. For integration companies, it's easy, the final client cannot do it alone but for an implementor it's easy."
"We want to see improvement from VMware with security. We want minimal downtime. We want automation. We want to deploy more efficiently."
"Both the price and the licensing fee are expensive, especially for our clients with a smaller workload."
"VMware vSphere does not permit hard partitioning."
"There are occasionally bugs or errors."
"I'm using vSphere at a high level. Sometimes, I find it challenging to integrate different networks, but I think it's just my lack of knowledge."
"The documentation could be improved. It does not help me to show the client the value of going with VMware vSphere rather than an open source or cheaper solution."
"The container management could be improved. It's far from perfect right now."
