What needs improvement?

The scripts available in the solution are not great and could be improved. Additionally, the setup should be more straightforward.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for approximately fifteen years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

Versatile, efficient, and offers shorter development times
Pros and Cons
  • "It has high performance when interacting with dashboards and reports."
  • "We need more types of visualizations."

What is our primary use case?

My organization offers valuable training on Qlik Sense topics. This helps us to be able to translate business needs into applications that meet the different requirements with efficiency, integrity, and versatility of the tool.

Also, the company I work for aims to help clients realize their full potential by leveraging their data. Through Qlik Sense, it has been possible to develop applications from different sectors that respond to business needs of all kinds with their particular characteristics.

The all-in-one tool has the ability to perform integrations and the use of complex functions in the development of valuable indicators with high efficiency.

How has it helped my organization?

It is a solution that allows my organization to provide value to different clients. Thanks to its capabilities, we can build different requirements with less wear and time.

Also, Qlik Sense, in my organization, allows us to keep track of the time usage of all consultants in a single application. It is consuming data in real-time.

It is important to mention that it has a very high learning curve as a tool, depending on the consultant's degree of knowledge in BI. This is also reflected in user training for being intuitive in different aspects. I can speak of this from my own experience. In ten days, I reached a domain of basic-intermediate knowledge, despite coming from other analytical tools.

What is most valuable?

The versatility and efficiency when processing data is great.

The ability to integrate data within the same solution makes it incredible.

It has high performance when interacting with dashboards and reports.

Integration of data from different sources is helpful.

As Qlik Sense is an in-memory solution, the performance is fast and provides real-time insights

It offers shorter development times.

The time to assimilate concepts to start developing applications is faster than other analytics solutions, considering that this tool has ETL and Visualization capabilities.

What needs improvement?

We need more types of visualizations.

We'd like more integration of free extensions.

Even though the solution is a self-service solution, many non-technical users still struggle to create their reports.

Even though the solution is a self-service solution, many non-technical users still find it challenging to create their reports. Having a report publishing feature is also very important and is not native to the local version.

I feel that more dynamic practice-oriented documentation is required that allows non-partner users to get to know the tool and learn about it. The latter also influences the point of self-service that I mentioned earlier. It would be good if the dynamics for constructing self-service reports oriented to non-technical functional users could be further improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for nine months.

All the users getting the same data enables them to use the data and not spend hours preparing data
Pros and Cons
  • "We have been using Qlik Sense to generate reports that have taken hours to prepare before that we are now able to update in a couple of minutes and are available to users on a centralized platform where they are able to get the required reports."
  • "From the initial setup of the product we had some struggles getting connections to some of our databases to function, this indicated that some of the data extract drivers can be improved and addition of some of the older database engines need to be added in Qlik Sense."

What is our primary use case?

We have been using Qlik Sense for centralized reporting and analytics where we have one source of truth that can not be manipulated by users like spreadsheets. We want users to utilize the reports to analyze the data instead of spending hours producing reports that are never analyzed.

We have been using Qlik Sense to generate reports that have taken hours to prepare before that we are now able to update in a couple of minutes and are available to users on a centralized platform where they are able to get the required reports.

How has it helped my organization?

We have gained incredible value by using Qlik Sense by now enabling the users to utilize the data and the reports in an analytics platform, with all the users getting the same data and reports that will enable them to use the data and not spend hours preparing data. We now have data at our disposal ready for consumption on an hourly basis that use to take users hours to prepare for use.

Being able to see the reports, numbers, and analysis of the data on a more frequent basis have enabled the company and executives to focus on the problem areas and track this on a regular basis.

What is most valuable?

We love the automated reload of data function and being able to join data together from various different sources. The centralized management console gives you incredible power over the security of your reporting platform and data.

We are able to blend together data from our tracking data, operations data, and financial data to display a complete view of driver behavior, productivity, and financial impact.

The capability of the software has enabled us to extract tracking data through our tracking provider's APIs using the REST connector built into the software.

What needs improvement?

From the initial setup of the product, we had some struggles getting connections to some of our databases to function, this indicated that some of the data extract drivers can be improved and the addition of some of the older database engines needs to be added in Qlik Sense.

One of the features that would add amazing value to us if we could have a mix of perpetual licenses and subscription licenses. This would give us the benefit to have less frequent users rather on a subscription license and use the perpetual licenses for frequent users.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Qlik Sense since July 2018.

We were able to identify easy things, such as when a contract was loaded incorrectly
Pros and Cons
  • "We began to see how our processes and other team's processes were negatively affecting the bottom line. We were able to provide tips to other teams to help improve their processes."
  • "We were able to identify easy things, such as when a contract was loaded incorrectly."

What is our primary use case?

Within the University of Miami healthcare system (UHealth), we wanted to see a high level view of our contracting performance. We currently are utilizing multiple systems of truth. We utilize the Advisory Board's PIC (Payment Integrity Compass) system to model all of our hospital contracts. For professional services, we use Experian's modeling tool. We wanted to consolidate all these different inputs of expected payment values into one view or report. There was a need to compare expected contractual values with actual over time.

It helps our team get better at predicting the future if we continue to monitor and follow. Our hope is that actual values would materialize from our expected values.

How has it helped my organization?

In our own wheelhouse, we were able to identify easy things, such as when a contract was loaded incorrectly. We also began to see how our processes and other team's processes were negatively affecting the bottom line. We were able to provide tips to other teams to help improve their processes.

    What is most valuable?

Qlik Sense data visualization building gives users tons of insight and connections that they may not have thought about. When you start play and building with knowledge that is presented, it just begs for more.

    What needs improvement?

Trending percentage volume over time in a new way, instead of using multiple pie charts, just have a percent scale and line that shows the percent change over time.

The ability to free form visualizations without coding, I know it is a tall order.  There is so much right about Qlik Sense that it is hard to ask for improvements.

For how long have I used the solution?

    Less than one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is super stable. We have no issues

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

With memory and disk space being so cheap, we have not had an issue

How are customer service and technical support?

    Excellent support with constant communications.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used a combination of SQL and Crystal reports. It takes a lot more time and effort to get similar results. Qlik does much of the work for you, like a great assistant.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very quick and simple.

    What about the implementation team?

    Vendor assistance.

    What was our ROI?

Currently, our ROI is clear and concise decision-making. This timely addition will easily add $15 million to our bottom line in 2017.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You will spend more time on educating your staff than licensing the product.  Ultimately, the cost is low, and it implements fast. The limiting factor is how quickly your staff can keep up.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I looked at Power BI and Tableau. Both were missing many things, including the academic healthcare community and expertise around Epic.

What other advice do I have?

It is a great tool for those companies or institutions that really want to empower their users to do great things.

User friendly, shows status of leads, and is easy to expand
    Pros and Cons
    • "The product is very stable."
    • "It's going to take 20 to 30 minutes to refresh sometimes."

What is our primary use case?

I'm primarily using the solution for analyzing the traffic, sources, electronics, the approval ratio, and payments. It is very similar to QlikView.

    What is most valuable?

The solution offers a lot of data you can use for analysis.

With Qlik Sense what I really do like is that I can see the status of the leads under the page of conversion. Once I use Qlik Sense, I can see the status of the leads and I don't need to use another platform or software. I can see how many leads an affiliate sends, and I can see the status of his leads. It is also very flexible for me as well.

    It's user-friendly.

    The product is very stable.

    What needs improvement?

Sometimes the refreshing it's not so updated. It's going to take 20 to 30 minutes to refresh sometimes. They're basically taking ten minutes or 15 minutes to refresh. It's got to refresh faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

Qlik Sense I've used less than QlikView. Qlik Sense came afterward. I've used it for around ten months to one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. Its performance is good. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution offers very good scalability. Since we have a lot of data, I never miss data. We have 1,000 leads and 1,000 activities and everything is shown there.

We have 30 or 40 people using the product.

We are using project coordinators. Payments are also using it and most probably the business intelligence team as well.

How are customer service and support?

I've never dealt with technical support in the past. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

    I've used QlikView as well.

What other advice do I have?

    I am a customer and an end-user.

I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using.

There is a lot of data that can be useful for anyone. I'd advise potential users to do good training, see every page that Qlik Sense has, and then start using it.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Powerful integration, easy to use, and highly reliable
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable features of Qlik Sense are the integration and panel for reports. The integration is very fast even though we process a lot of information."
    • "Qlik Sense is working very well on going to low code and development. They are trying to make their environment more user-friendly. However, the training is not free. When you want to learn more about the tool, sometimes you need to pay for the training. This does not make sense to me because training should be free because the more you learn about the tool the more you use it and the more you are loyal to the company and want to continue usage."

What is our primary use case?

We use Qlik Sense in sales. We analyze all the information about sales channels, customers, and SKUs. We work with all the final information, such as P and L, DSO, and other indicators. We have a lot of indicators from finance, such as information about quality. We are a pharmaceutical lab and have information about the number of lots that we import and released to the market.

We have connected Qlik Sense with SAP and Salesforce. We analyze the information of Salesforce and SAP, such as the number of cases that we receive, the number of the marketing campaign, and the amount of money that we are spending on them.

All the department has that analytics on Qlik Sense

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Qlik Sense are the integration and panel for reports. The integration is very fast even though we process a lot of information.

The super user can also make changes. It's very friendly to work with after you have had some training. It's very straightforward to make the changes that you need for everyday work.

    What needs improvement?

Qlik Sense is working very well on going to low code and development. They are trying to make their environment more user-friendly. However, the training is not free. When you want to learn more about the tool, sometimes you need to pay for the training. This does not make sense to me because training should be free because the more you learn about the tool the more you use it and the more you are loyal to the company and want to continue usage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Qlik Sense for approximately there years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Qlik Sense service is very good, it is stable. We never had a breakdown. The service level agreement is very good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Qlik Sense is very good.

Qlik Sense is used by approximately 35 people in the company with different kinds of data analytics from finance, operations, quality control, and sales. We are using it very broadly in our company.

We have plans to increase our usage of this solution in the future.

How are customer service and support?

I have not needed to use the support, even though we paid for the support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I was using Microsoft Excel and now I use Qlik Sense. We first started with the desktop version of Qlik Sense and then we migrated to the enterprise. We are now fully integrated with SAP and Salesforce. It has been a long time since we have been working with Qlik Sense as a first tool.

    How was the initial setup?

We first decided to train three people in the company with good profiles for data analytics with Qlik Sense.

We used a company that help us to make the first reports and the first setup. We had very good support from a company from Argentina. They were very supportive and help us a lot. We started to make some development from people from our company and we had help from another company to resolve some issues that were complicated aspects, such as integration. The investments for the deployment were not huge because sometimes an SAP implementation involves a license and a large investment in the development. This is not the case for Qlik Sense.

The full deployment took approximately two months.

    What about the implementation team?

We have a company that helps us with the processes with Qlik Sense. For example, the data analytics reports. A professional license allows a very simple way for users to use and modify the reports. We need an expert on Qlik Sense.

The maintenance rate and the maintenance payment that we pay to a third-party company are very low.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have 20 licenses for Qlik Sense, and it is a special license that allows people in the whole company to use it over time. You buy this license and there are some minutes that can be used. For example, for the users that used only a few minutes in a month, we use this license. All the people have the ability to work with Qlik Sense. However, the number of licenses is not the number of users. The number of users that uses Qlik Sense is approximately 35 people.

We have paid extra to have support from Qlik Sense.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Qlik Sense an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable feature is the mobile platform."
    • "More pivot table options, like the ability to have the totals row at the bottom of the table, would be helpful."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for operational and financial dashboards and reporting. We now have the ability to share insights on the Qlik mobile platform.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has helped us with faster decision-making and faster data access through the mobile platform.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the mobile platform. This is a great way to share insights in meetings.

    What needs improvement?

More pivot table options, like the ability to have the totals row at the bottom of the table, would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Qlik Sense for between four and six months.

Intuitive, user-friendly, and good performance, but the administrative tools need to be improved
    Pros and Cons
    • "The associative searching and filtering capability is a unique feature among other BI tools, and one does not need to deeply understand the underlying data."
    • "There is an inability to effectively manage (pre)caching (scheduling, assigning for respective user groups, etc), especially without community extensions or uour own development."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for process optimization and getting insight into making better decisions based on data visualization. We have deployed to multiple environments, standard and self-service, among a variety of user groups based on the requirements. This is valid for multiple locations around the world including North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Use cases are valid for most of the company's divisions, though some of them are using it more often. We have both user types, including consumers who don't have as many privileges and power users who can take advantage of most of the features.

How has it helped my organization?

Qlik Sense has provided insight into specific areas that enabled us to shorten the supply cycle, give a better overview of the company's production, increase profitability, and improve the effectiveness of respective vaccines.

Basically, it improved either processes or decisions for effectively promoting, demoting, or changing products. It presents visualizations enabling easier identification of compounds that lead to greater effectiveness of either trial testing, product delivery, or their supply to the various regions around the world.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of this solution are:

    • It has intuitive and user-friendly navigation, which facilitates users' adoption of the tool.
    • The associative searching and filtering capability is a unique feature among other BI tools, and one does not need to deeply understand the underlying data.
    • The in-memory compression and processing enable quick responses from the server, provided they are properly sized.
    • With Adaptable visualizations (mobile/desktop), there is no need to create multiple versions of the report, one for desktop and one for mobile.
    • The powerful data handling and preparation ability to transform data is very helpful.

    What needs improvement?

The areas that we feel Qlik Sense can be improved are:

    • The administrator tools such as user sessions, active users, task sessions, and the ability to kill, provide insufficient power over what is happening on the platform.
    • There is an inability to effectively manage (pre)caching (scheduling, assigning for respective user groups, etc), especially without community extensions or your own development. There is simply no way to automate.
    • This solution needs inbuild versioning, backup, dependency analysis, and regression testing.
    • This is an imparity between Windows and Cloud versions with respect to functionality.
    • Shared development would be a helpful inclusion.
    • Core functionality delivered by extensions (Telemetry, CLI) is in need of improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Qlik Sense for more than three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Unless you make users doing development, or exploration of their data in the same environment as is the production, you should be good to go.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is pretty good, although there are limitations, especially for the Windows version, on the number of machines in one environment.

How are customer service and technical support?

Unless you pay a premium for Priority support the experience is not great. For some issues, you might wait weeks before a resolution is reached.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Business usually wants to explore new options on how to analyze data. We felt that new tools might offer new capabilities.

    How was the initial setup?

Our setup included multiple projects, multiple divisions, multiple environments, cloud setup, security, and load balancing. It was especially extensive.

    What about the implementation team?

We used both an in-house team and received assistance from a third-party.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My advice is to always evaluate the respective use cases to determine whether it is the best tool to go with.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Private Cloud
