Intuitive solution that provides variety of tools for performing advanced analytics
Pros and Cons
  • "It ensures the optimization of the application development while maintaining the user-friendly nature of its UI."
  • "Machine learning should be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for our full application operational analytics, including building, storing, and analyzing the data. It provides us with detailed insight, making it easy to extract needed reports. Everything related to business intelligence, whether it's reporting or analytical modules, is stored on the Snowflake Analytics platform.

What is most valuable?

It's an intuitive platform that allows organizations to rapidly adapt, providing the ability to quickly analyze and make data-driven decisions. It ensures the optimization of the application development while maintaining the user-friendly nature of its UI.

What needs improvement?

Machine learning should be improved. Some of the solutions, such as Databricks, offer an option to directly write and integrate Python code on the spot, but Snowflake doesn't have that feature yet. Adding it would be useful, as it would facilitate building models.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Snowflake Analytics for a year.

Great inbuilt infrastructure but no end-to-end execution of jobs
Pros and Cons
  • "Snowflake Analytics' most valuable feature is its inbuilt infrastructure for executing queries, which I don't have to manage based on my data volume as it's taken care of by Snowflake."
  • "End-to-end execution of jobs isn't possible with Snowflake, which means we have to do some customization."

What is our primary use case?

I mainly use Snowflake Analytics for Power BI reports.

What is most valuable?

Snowflake Analytics' most valuable feature is its inbuilt infrastructure for executing queries, which I don't have to manage based on my data volume as it's taken care of by Snowflake.

What needs improvement?

End-to-end execution of jobs isn't possible with Snowflake, which means we have to do some customization. Allowing sequential flow of orchestration would be an improvement. In the next release, Snowflake should include direct integration and communication between other cloud systems.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Snowflake Analytics for over a week.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Snowflake Analytics is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Snowflake Analytics is scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, and I would rate the process as four out of five.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Snowflake Analytics is a little more costly than Azure.

What other advice do I have?

Snowflake Analytics is more managed than other cloud offerings, which means I don't have to deal with anything happening in the backend. For those thinking of implementing Snowflake, I advise analyzing the cost, your volume of data, and the number of users. If you have a huge demand on these things, I would recommend choosing Snowflake. I rate Snowflake as seven out of ten.

Has a user-friendly authentication feature, but it could have an accessible toolbox
Pros and Cons
  • "It is quite a convenient tool."
  • "The platform could work easier for AI implementation compared to one of its competitors."

What is our primary use case?

We use Snowflake Analytics for data cataloging, data science, and managing sales development.

What is most valuable?

It is quite a convenient tool and has a user-friendly authentication feature.

What needs improvement?

The platform could work easier for AI implementation compared to Databricks.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the platform for six months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have ten Snowflake Analytics users in our organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Compared to Snowflake, changing the data and gaining insights from the application development process while working with Databricks is simpler. It has a more user-friendly and accessible toolbox.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Snowflake Analytics a seven out of ten. It is a good and useful platform. I recommend it to others. We can automate data pipelines using it. I advise others to make sure it meets their business requirements.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

A wonderful data organization tool that helps us with our business intelligence
Pros and Cons
  • "It helps with business intelligence by providing analytics that can be reported."
  • "There are issues while loading data from Snowflake Analytics to the Power BI reporting."

What is our primary use case?

We use Snowflake Analytics to organize data. We create a fact and dimension table, relate it using its cardinality, load it from the source and use it for reporting.

How has it helped my organization?

It helps with business intelligence by providing analytics that can be reported.

What needs improvement?

There are issues while loading data from Snowflake Analytics to the Power BI reporting, and it doesn't get loaded directly. Sometimes we need to use queries to fix it, but it affects our reporting. Snowflake Analytics should be easily loaded into the reporting tool because it is the final end tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for four months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I cannot speak to stability because our data is not yet 100% loaded. It is a continuous ongoing process.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. In my organization, about four people, along with our clients, use Snowflake Analytics. So about four to eight people are using it. So far, it is not difficult to maintain the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, neat, understandable and clear. We did the deployment in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have details about the licensing costs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not review any other solution before Snowflake Analytics.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. It is a wonderful tool. It easily organizes data, makes it accessible, loads it from the pipeline and helps with reporting.

Very good computational power that leads to faster results
Pros and Cons
  • "The computational power of Snowflake is very good."
  • "Snowflake should include a WHERE clause for building data pipelines."

What is our primary use case?

There are a lot of use cases for Snowflake. We can use it to build data pipelines. We can also use it to process terabytes of data to generate real-time analytics.

What is most valuable?

The computational power of Snowflake is very good. We get results very fast. Snowflake also has very good connectors for building pipelines. It makes it easy to connect to different cloud solutions.

What needs improvement?

Snowflake should include a WHERE clause for building data pipelines. When we create pipelines, Snowflake does not provide the WHERE clause. So the data transformation does not take place. We have to dump data as it is and transform it into the pipeline. If the WHERE clause is included, it will be very beneficial in the future.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Snowflake for around two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Snowflake is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Snowflake is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

Snowflake’s technical support is good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very straightforward. It is not very complex. If you are building something which requires customized queries or stored procedures, it is a little complex.

Initially, we faced some syntactic problems during setup. Then, there were some concerns about the WHERE clause. Apart from these, we did not face any other problems.

What about the implementation team?

I went through the product documentation and deployed the solution myself. The deployment took one or two days. There were many different phases in the deployment strategy. I joined the team during deployment.

What other advice do I have?

Using Snowflake, we can dump data through data pipelines and generate analytics. I do not belong to the sales team, so I do not know about the pricing information of Snowflake. I rate Snowflake an eight out of ten.
