The solution could be more stable.
We have been using VMware vSphere for more than five years.
While the solution is stable, it would be nice if it were more so.
The solution is scalable.
We have plans to increase our usage.
I have not had occasion to contact technical support.
We used a virtual machine prior to the solution.
As the the solution is cloud-based, it is easy to install.
The installation took, perhaps, four days.
Installation can be done on one's own.
The solution comes with a yearly subscription license.
The solution is cloud-based.
There are around four people using the solution in our organization.
I rate VMware vSphere as a seven out of ten.
The vMotion feature.
Service up time has increased significantly. Having servers that are not hardware dependent has changed the way we offer solutions.
The vSphere Web Client could be better. The requirement for flash is what really kills it for me. Mobile access from iPads would be great too.
I've used it for three to six months.

I would rate customer service 5/10.
Technical Support:I would rate technical support 9/10.
No solution was used previously.
The initial setup was straightforward and easy to use. Installing ESXi is no different than any other Operating System and the vCSA deployment is just as simple as clicking next a few times.
We did it in-house.
We haven't calculated an ROI.
Every dollar spent on vSphere will repay itself in up time.
No other options were evaluated.
Stop looking at others solutions and implement vSphere 6. It is hands down the most robust, scalable and easy to use virtual infrastructure out there today.
Less time is needed to go live for workloads. We have, therefore, been able to increase our efficiency and that of the virtual infrastructure.
The web client is prone to errors and crashes. Dump this in favor of the C# desktop client.
I've used it for two years.

We have been using VMware in our environment since the company's inception.
I joined the company after it was implemented.
As far as I know, it was done in-house.
You should use vSphere for robust performance and stability.
It’s a hyper visor residential product, and the AVS status is shared between hosts immediately through vCenter, making it more stable.
Using vCenter and AVS, we can create easily, and transparently, a VMM (virtual machine manager) domains. In general, we can scale easily.
No direct experience.
It was a very easy initial setup, including the ESXi host.
We must meet a real-switch behavior and functionalities. Go ahead and definitely purchase it.
Cost, for one thing, it greatly reduces from physical servers.
Time, it saves me time. It’s also much easier to manage.
More storage capabilities would be great. Also, more hot-adding of devices would be helpful.
Fairly stable – we have issues, but overall it’s a very stable product that doesn’t require much legwork to run.
Not much experience, so I wouldn’t know.
They’ve been extremely helpful. Basically, we create a ticket and they assign a technician that usually calls us back within an hour. They usually do a great job of diagnosing and fixing the problem.
We were using hardware before, we started that in that development phase and realized the benefits of virtual environments and started migrating over.
It’s fairly straightforward.
I always look at the technical support, product availability, and product stability when selecting a new product. We just looked into vSphere though as there’s nothing else like it.
Nobody’s perfect, but it’s great for our needs, and I would absolutely recommend the product.
We have been able to consolidate 70-80 physical servers into much smaller ESXi virtual servers. We’ve reduced our footprint to a much smaller virtual environment.
I can't say as I'm still trying to figure out the product fully.
I have been extremely impressed by the stability of the solution.
It's extremely scalable. The ease of being able to add a new server or host in, and get it compatible with what's going on gives us a lot more functionality to get that host up and running.
Fortunately, I haven’t had to use it much, but I’ve gotten good response, usually we get someone on the phone and they are able to help us with our issues.
No previous solution was used.
I inherited our production environment, but I set up the dev environment and that was up and running in a day. The time from installation to functional environment was about a day.
I think as a company VMware is committed to innovation and stability and from a setting up the environment standpoint, you want consistency, but from what we’ve seen VMWare has that.
vMotion, Storage vMotion, Distributed Resources Schedule (DRS), NIOC, SIOC, Storage Profiles.
Our business has been able to consolidate fleets of physical servers to virtual servers, and is able to respond to changing business needs quickly.
Needs improvements to the Fault Tolerance feature, focus more on the performance and quality of the hypervisor. I'd like for them to add more vCPU capability.
5 years
I haven't seen any issues with deployment.
Lately I have seen some bugs coming up.
I haven't seen any issues with scalability.
Good, but could be better. Lately I have seen VMware dropping the ball on customer service.

Yes. Hypervisor setup and setup of High Availability clustering in a jiffy.
In-house
There is no setup cost. Its only the administration cost.
Yes. Hyper-V, Xen.
From my personal experiences I've found that it’s still the leading hypervisor on the market.
VMware has a virtual viewer, its been there for years.. it used to be an appliance now its an app on google \ iOS. I use it, so you have access.
