Pros
"The performance of the solution is accurate and concise.""It has improved our organization in terms of its uptime as our main cluster has never been offline due to a SAN failure.""The product gave us a cost-effective way to deploy a highly available server environment.""The product creates opportunities with hybrid on-premise solutions.""Ten gigabit Ethernet compatibility, support, ease of use, and management are some positive features.""We have experienced multiple hardware failures at one site and the fault-tolerant volume worked exactly as expected with zero downtime.""The product only requires two VMWare ESXi host servers versus three host servers for VMware's comparable solution.""The configuration is so much simpler than that of a traditional SAN with fewer points of failure to worry about."

"It is a solution that best suits thre needs of our organization.""Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series is simple to use, user-friendly and has been best for our purposes.""Cisco technical support is very skilled. From what I've had to access, there were quick responses and the necessary escalation.""On the VDI side, because the storage is local to the HyperFlex, it was very easy and convenient. The performance is exceptional.""It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution.""The compression and deduplication are very high. Therefore, we can use the size of the product more efficiently than other storage solutions.""Scalability is easy and simple.""The most valuable feature for our company is that it works internally. We have a lot of internal projects for optimization."

Cons
"The configuration can a bit cumbersome.""I would like them to invest time in reducing the complexity of the startup and shutdown procedure.""I see no need for major improvements but there could be some improvements in the form of notifications and the simplifying of maintenance mode.""The documentation could be better.""This product could be improved with the inclusion of new health check procedures.""An update caused a syncing issue and it took over a month to resolve it""We would like the documentation to be more complete. Most items are covered, but if you don't know something, you may need to contact their support.""The only way I can see this product needing improvement is the consultation level of the StarWind sales and engineers."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"One of the biggest problems with HyperFlex HX is that if you want to adjust your solution in terms of processing power, memory, or disk capacity, you have to buy completely new hosts. From a financial perspective, it can be very expensive to do so, and from a legal perspective, there are all kinds of compliance issues we would have to sort out before buying any new solution or application.""Cisco is a bit more challenging in terms of deployment. The admin must be knowledgeable in order to complete the task. Without that knowledge, it will be difficult to complete.""It needs improvements in terms of I/O. Sometimes I have felt it is slightly slow while we are trying to provision VMs or access VMs.""This solution is lacking in replication and backup abilities that I would like to see in a future release similar to HPE SimpliVity.""They should give us a little more information about how to use the CLI and offer more commands.""Does not support the stretch cluster, and the interface is not good.""I would like to see more analytics. It could use better infographs in the HyperFlex Connect on how traffic is running in the network. If you were reaching any capacity issues on the Fabric Interconnects, it should be able to cool all of the servers and Fabric Interconnects, then possibly integrate it with, e.g., Nexus Series switches. This should all be available in a single pane of glass.""The scalability could use improvement."

More Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series [EOL] Cons →

"The performance of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI could improve. Other solutions, such as Cisco, are better.""The solution must be hypervisor-agnostic.""Cost-wise, this solution is slightly more expensive than other hyperconverged solutions.""Software upgrade is still more complicated than the competitors, so that's an area of improvement.""This year 2022, we have the possibility to include new kinds of storage with a high disk availability, such as Alletra 6000 and Alletra 9000. Those are the new storage available. If we would like to improve the quality and the capability and the high availability of these products, we can choose between different costs. This is another benefit from this HPE Nimble Storage dHCI solution of hyper-converged.""The only issue I'm really running into is we have a SQL server that we're having a lot of high IO latency on one of my drives and it's my data drive from my SQL server. It's not really giving me any good information as to where that latency is coming from, so that's what I'm trying to track down and troubleshoot.""I rate Nimble one out of 10 for ease of setup. Setting up Nimble Storage was a nightmare. It took us three months to deal with all the kinks and bugs. We had two people from HPE assisting us and two from our team.""The product is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."

  • "Pricing is better if you buy more Cisco products."
  • "The pricing is a bit expensive."

  • "If you don't look at the costs of the systems, the scalability is quite good."
  • "The price is a bit high. It could be better, but the product is worth the cost."
  • "I would like the pricing to be cheaper."
  • "Comparable solutions with switches, storage, and services are cheaper than HyperFlex. It should be cheaper."

  • "The customers have found the solution to be expensive. However, when compared to the competition the price is reasonable."
  • "The cost of the licensing is reasonable."
