We performed a comparison between CrowdStrike Falcon Complete and Field Effect MDR based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Managed Detection and Response (MDR) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The best part about Binary Defense MDR is that it runs on everything, and they keep an eye on things 24/7."
"With Binary Defense, we don't just get an alert, but also a detailed rundown of why they're alerting us on it. They tell us what was executed, or the username, script, or IP. That way, we're not wasting time investigating."
"The biggest aspect for us is that they are able to conform to our environment and utilize our tools. That way, we still maintain ownership of all the data and access to the applications, and we never lose control of the ability to run the solution ourselves if we need to."
"The case interface is Binary Defense MDR's most valuable feature."
"Binary Defense has a human service department that provides live monitoring for our systems."
"The customization has been the most valuable aspect and was really the reason we ended up selecting Binary Defense. They worked with us to provide exactly the level of support, features, response, and collaboration we needed."
"The most valuable feature is reviewing tickets and the notes added by technicians."
"The most valuable features are the SIEM and the ticketing function; the latter is very smooth and easy to read and understand. We don't have any issues looking at the ticketing information when we're trying to identify what's going on."
"Falcon Complete's best feature is detection. The interface is also user-friendly."
"We found the initial setup to be quick and easy for the most part."
"The most valuable features of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete are the modern and intuitive capabilities, and because it is cloud-based it is much easier to adopt and roll out to the environment."
"I like Falcon's AI functionality and vulnerability management. That has been so helpful. Falcon Complete can manage vulnerabilities, quarantine threats, and do all kinds of forensic incident analysis. It's a lightweight solution that only uses 1% of the CPU, which is a game changer. Other EDRs have had high CPU usage."
"EDR and Next-Generation Antivirus (NGAV) are good features. The Spotlight feature is also good, and it also can detect patching-related vulnerabilities."
"Overwatch is the most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete."
"I have found AI technology most valuable in the solution."
"The features I have found valuable are artificial intelligence, which protects us against malicious forces of any kind, and device control through the remote execution tool."
"I appreciate the "set it and forget it" nature of Field Effect Covalence."
"It is easy to manage surveillance."
"I get alerts if there's malicious activity or restrictions, should they any suspicious activity emerge."
"The most valuable aspect of Field Effect Covalence is its ability to continuously monitor for and identify potential threats."
"What I like the most about Field Effect Covalence is the ease of deployment, the fact that it's cost-effective to roll out, and it is reasonable."
"The AROs have been incredibly helpful."
"The ARO alerts are helpful to use almost daily to get a sense of what actions we need to take to expedite security measures."
"It's running in the background and does a packet-level analysis of everything that comes in. It also has an auto-response feature, so if something gets through and is clicked on, or somehow gets through the network, it gets isolated and quarantined, and we get notified."
"It's hard to think of anything that they need to improve on, but just to point out something, I would like to see them provide advanced XDR."
"We should be able to isolate devices faster. They should shorten the time between clicking on a device to contain it and carrying out the action. That would be a welcome improvement."
"I would like to see more frequent check-ins with our security status."
"Binary Defense MDR could be even better with additional features, like automatic scans and file quarantine."
"I would like to get more reports from Binary Defense about what they're blocking."
"The current reporting system could benefit from improvement."
"I don't find any downside to them, but if I have to put one, it would be consistent manpower or staffing. The only area where the solution can be improved is going to be with people. As they grow, they are struggling with the same thing that every other company is, which is getting talent and getting that talent to stay, but they've just revised their tiering system to go from a flat analyst and manager to a three-tier solution where it goes through two or three before it gets elevated. That seems to have worked out well, so if one level misses it, the next one picks it up, and it works out fine."
"The only area I see for improvement with Binary Defense is their service portal. It could benefit from some enhancements."
"Their endpoint solution is excellent. But I would like to see them improve their HDR, as well as their DLP (Data Loss Prevention)."
"People should be able to obtain training at any point of the engagement so that if somebody who doesn't have the basic knowledge is getting thrown into it, they are able to get trained, and CrowdStrike is able to help them out. CrowdStrike is really doing what they're supposed to be doing, but it is like anything else where they have to keep up on their research and development, or they'll fall behind. This is a fast-paced environment, and I've seen that vendors that were really good three years ago are terrible now. CrowdStrike is trying to stay ahead of the bad guys. They have AI. I have not had a problem with them missing anything. If they missed something, they should just make sure that they don't miss it again and understand why they missed it. I don't know if they did."
"Falcon Complete's user interface isn't very user-friendly, especially for writing rules."
"What could be improved in CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is the threat hunting feature and the insights it provides, in particular, the variable analysis feature. Protection against zero-day threats and sandboxing could also be improved in CrowdStrike Falcon Complete. If you compare it with other solutions, it can go head-to-head, but the features I mentioned still need improvement."
"The performance slows down by between 10% and 40%, depending on what type of work the machine is doing."
"I prefer to put a pound into the prevention and an ounce into the cure, but CrowdStrike put more focus into the EDR. This works as a business model for them, as they get a lot of customers purchasing their MDR services, usually SMBs lacking the staff to leverage the EDR tool themselves adequately. We have many such customers. I would much rather see more refinement and investment into the prevention side of the equation, though CrowdStrike has a good engine. The solution is as effective as SentinelOne and Windows Defender for Endpoint; it's an excellent endpoint protection solution."
"Pricing is definitely a problem. It could be cheaper for licensing."
"As of recent, their MITRE scores were not as good as in years past."
"Field Effect Covalence could benefit from enhancing its packing slip process."
"One limitation is that if someone takes their laptop outside the office building, the DNS firewall provides minimal coverage, and we are unable to generate reports."
"Because this is a security solution, I would recommend that they extend their support hours, and perhaps for emergencies, even to 24/7 or 24/5."
"I have had a couple of challenges around updates to the agents where it seems it doesn't automatically replace older versions."
"They put too much detail into the emails."
"It would be incredibly valuable to have the Field Effect team handle some of the third-party application patching they're currently identifying."
"There are tags for security threats, but I only view them. I do not action anything. I just see what is happening. Sometimes, they are a little bit vague, and I am unsure what they mean, so I leave that to the IT experts. Overall, we are quite satisfied with their product and how it is working."
"It would be more effective if it could surgically isolate the specific malicious process instead of deleting the entire machine."
