Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work.""The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors""Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture.""The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.""It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up.""I get alerts when scripts are detected in the environment.""Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration.""It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."

"The technical support is really terrific.""I like the solution's adaptive inspection and container inspection.""There is a built-in endpoint detection response that helps save money.""It can scale from 100 to 10,000. There's no problem with the scalability.""It has the added advantage of offering forensic analysis.""It has been scalable.""The most valuable feature of Digital Guardian is its reputation. They have scored high on the Gartner Magic Quadrant.""We have been able to monitor access to files from each of our workstations."

"Tanium's most valuable features are patch management, inventory, and distribution software.""Tanium's most valuable feature is its instant discovery aspect.""I like the tool's incident response and security patching.""Threat hunting is a very good feature on Tanium. We have just started using it and have not used it extensively.""For incident response tasks, all these tasks can get done in minutes with minimal disruption to the end-user.""I'm not so familiar with the tool but I like the interaction of the console to the picture. Patching is the primary model I have been focusing on for the last couple of weeks. So I have created a proof of concept environment and have been checking the available features.""The most valuable features of this solution are the consolidation of all historical data on device endpoints, security drivers, firmware, and Software version gaps.""The interrogation piece was the most valuable feature because it was very detailed."

Cons
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later.""We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team.""Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation.""The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions""The SIEM could be improved.""Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR.""The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection.""We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"It would be helpful if there was an on-premise version of the solution for companies that cannot use the cloud, such as government sectors.""Technical support could be better.""Some features on Mac and Linux are not complete currently. For example, some device control features haven't been transferred over to the other systems. If they could have their Windows features also available on Mac and Linux, that would be perfect. Some of our customers have a Mac environment for their RD environment. Having the solution fully capable of handling everything in a Mac environment is crucial.""If the client uses Windows 10 or 11 and Microsoft updates the operating system's version, Digital Guardian must update their product to match compatibility.""I would like to see the workflow, to get all the rules and policies set up, be less complicated.""The solution has complexities around policy creation and deployment.""Digital Guardian is an excellent solution but our experience with the partner has been the most horrible experience we have ever had with any partner.""The room for improvement with Digital Guardian is that it will be better with the Linux agent because it is the only DLP solution for Linux workstations. It still needs to upgrade the agents to the latest version for the Linux kernel."

More Digital Guardian Cons →

"The most painful thing is the interface. It's a bit unclear sometimes.""I would like to have more integrations and custom plugins to input. Integration is always a big deal in a lot of different environments.""They could improve the UI.""The main issues are the network connection because different customers have issues with their networks. It's difficult implementing this type of solution because the network is the main feature in the architecture for these types of solutions. Tanium could improve by creating some network optimization.""The solution needs to improve the reporting and tracking capabilities.""It is not really additional functions, or the features that are needed, rather the complexity would be reduced based on the number of modules required to put together a comprehensive operational security and risk compliance model.""Tanium's limitations should be improved because although it is a great tool, it is limited to only a few classes during a session.""Most of the time, agent-relative issues have to be more equipped with self-healing features. At times, the agent is there, but for some reason, it doesn't report a status. It gives certain problems that are obviously agent-based."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
