Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It was delivered when we wanted it and has performed exceptionally well.""It is limitless when it comes down to being able to scale up or even scale back, if we need it to.""I think Dynatrace has good integration. I saw an integration with xMatters where, when there's a problem, it can kick out a message to the whomever it is, with xMatters.""The features that we find most valuable are automatic root cause detection, topology discovery, and session replay.""The main benefit is being able to pinpoint problems.""They have quick answers for scalability.""PurePath gives a lot of flexibility in identifying issues and finding the flow of execution.""Dynatrace has an auto-baseline and uses AI to monitor the performance of each API. The response time is related to the baseline."

More Dynatrace Pros →

"It's given us the ability to create various real-time network performance reports and distribute them to any colleague who can access these reports immediately.""The feature that I have found most valuable is the scale-up and scale-down. The scale-up is an operation where the CPU boosts-up and then the memory will boost-up. That works awesomely.""We've had great feedback from our customers about SevOne support. They're willing to set up a remote session upon request. You have to go through three tiers of support with most vendors, and they ask a lot of screening questions before they will do a remote session. You need to spend a lot of time before an engineer will host a remote session to look at your problematic system.""Data Insight reporting tool is the most valuable feature. They came up with it a couple of years ago. The most pleasing factor is the dark theme. You don't have a white background. It has templates that you can create for all kinds of reports that you can hit on the fly. It's much better printing of the reports. If you want to send PDFs to people, the reports are actually decent. Whereas for years, the old architecture of the PDFs was rubbish and even our customers said, "We have to manipulate your PDFs because they all have bad margin breaks. SevOne fixed that a couple of years ago with the new Data Insight. It's fantastic.""Another useful feature is that SevOne gives you real-time insights into your network performance. It polls every five minutes. That is important for our customers because there are some network teams that are always monitoring their networks.""Flexible architecture: You can extend the system and its capacity by attaching another cluster pair.""We find that the reporting is particularly valuable in terms of not only communicating with our peer teams but also with the executives.""SevOne’s data collection functionality is very good. From a collection point of view, we pull SNMP data, which is simple. It is easy to manipulate the pull in the estate. It is really simple compared to some of the other products that we have used. However, for deferred data, i.e., things that we import or don't pull directly, we tend to have a preplanned integration. So, its Universal Collector is really useful."

Cons
"When integrating this solution with any third party applications, there is an additional cost to pay. This can make the solution very costly to use.""I'd like to see self-healing and I'd also like to see more automation. It looks like is that's the direction Dynatrace is heading in, in their Dynatrace product.""It is not clear what are our long-term strategy should be to upgrade (Appmon vs Dynatrace).""JIRA integration should be enriched and more granular.""If you have many distributed servers, you will need to install or migrate every agent. This can be a problem if you have too many, and it takes time.""Session export for offline analysis, like it was in AppMon, would be also nice.""Our main problems have been that it has a high learning curve to it. I've used it for about three years now and I'm still learning it. There are some videos and there is some documentation out there, but it still requires you to delve into the tool to learn it. A little bit more comprehensive self-paced training would help.""Getting the EM data, we have to open a browser. Generally, one of the asks from our clients or our engineering team is to change this."

More Dynatrace Cons →

"Software upgrades can be tricky is not easy.""SevOne could improve its flexibility because it isn't fully customizable and its out-of-the-box configuration doesn't cover all use cases.""The customizations are very hard. The person doing it has to be very good at analytics and has to be very good in all languages""The GUI: both the dashboard/user view and the admin tool.""We need to be thinking about streaming telemetry protocols. They already have the port for enhanced visualization, which they already have through Data Insight.""The tool needs improvement in non-Cisco SD-WAN.""The method of searching for SIP and the way to create the groups.""High-frequency polling is data-intensive because you're pulling more. If SevOne could figure out a way to manage the impact of high-frequency polling on the system, that would be very popular."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is based on the number of servers monitored, so for big applications, it is a bit expensive."
  • "Licensing is a bit complicated for Dynatrace, and pricing is dependent on how much your organization invests."
  • "We found an issue within the first week of ownership that has been costing us more than the entire license cost."
  • "Product pricing can seem a little over complex, however this is minor and does not detract from the benefits of the solution."
  • "Getting the first agents installed, getting information, and coverage in a initial set of systems can be done in hours and with a low cost entry point."
  • "Price (of the product) is a major concern for all the clients I work with."
  • "The licensing model is confusing in solutioning clients for the number of hosts needed to deploy."
  • "The product is superior to others, but it comes with a price tag that is often difficult to position back to clients."
  • More Dynatrace Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Have a bank of licenses, because it is about the number of objects (RAM, ports, CPU, etc.)."
  • "Choose a SevOne partner who can provide SevOne as a service and can deliver professional services and maintenance."
  • "It is inexpensive compared to other monitoring tools."
  • "Prices per license are not huge, but they exist."
  • "There are cheaper solutions available."
  • "The pricing has been fair."
  • "Many tools price things based on the number of KPIs that you're collecting around a device. In many cases, there could be hundreds of metrics that you need to collect. SevOne provides device-level pricing. That gives us the flexibility to turn on, and expand on, the metrics that we're collecting around those devices, without taking a financial hit."
  • "The pricing has not evolved with the market, which is one of the reasons we are moving to a new product."
