We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"FortiSIEM's best features are the dashboards and customization.""The ability to write my own parsers for the devices that are not supported by Fortinet is the most valuable feature.""FortiSIEM is a great tool for making security processes transparent.""The most valuable features for us are the built-in reports and alerts, along with the extreme flexibility in reporting and rule generation.""Fortinet FortiSIEM provides good detection against advanced threats.""It works well with medium to large-scale enterprises.""Real-time monitoring makes life quite easy for me.""Analytics is the most valuable feature. The business service summaries in the dashboards and the correlations for the SIEM are also valuable features."

"Reporting on NetCrunch is pretty good. It's very similar to SolarWinds. It's just a different interface. The majority of everything there was beneficial."

Cons
"The challenge I face with Fortinet FortiSIEM is the lack of support.""It lacks a "wizard" that shows a particular user's activity or particular circumstance. I think the interface is intimidating because there's so much information there.""Network detection and response is a separate product.""They could work on their documentation. If there's anything about the solution that needs improvement, it's that. For example, documentation already is on a very high level but specifically on the CLI there are tons of features which can be fine-tuned and thousands of commands are very difficult to document. If they could make this easier, it would improve the overall solution.""Our team tried configuring MS SQL database logs with Fortinet FortiSIEM, but it did not work for some time.""The nodes on our network did not comply with the SIEM solution. They use a different format parking log.""The policy editing should be easier. Right now, it's too hard.""The UI could improve in Fortinet FortiSIEM. Humans view the UI frequently for data and if it was more visually pleasing it would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."
