We performed a comparison between Fortinet FortiWeb and KerioControl based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Amazon Web Services (AWS), F5, Microsoft and others in Web Application Firewall (WAF)."It is a good product. We have just blocked everything coming from some geographical locations or certain countries, and it has been working very efficiently when I look at logs, events, and incidents generated from the system. It is generating very good analytic reports about it. This is the most valuable thing about this solution. It has load balancing and almost everything that a web application firewall needs. It is very flexible and easy to learn and configure. It can be easily learned and configured by using the information available on different channels such as YouTube."
"The GUI is user-friendly."
"Fortinet FortiWeb has improved my organization by protecting our customer's web infrastructure environment."
"The solution has a very simple deployment."
"The most valuable feature is that this product represents a whole solution, including a WAF, and even anti-defacements."
"The product has a very user-friendly dashboard."
"Security Fabric integration. This is really a value-added feature as FortiWeb can interact with the rest of the client’s Fortinet pack to provide an intelligent security layer like (FortiSIEM for central log management and correlation, FortiGate, FortiSandbox for malware analysis, etc.)."
"The customers are very happy with this solution because of two things. First, the IPS integration with a web application is very tightly done on Fortinet. Second, the ease of use is there. The management interface or the GUI interface is very easy to use, configure, and manage. These are the two main valuable features. It supports integration with other Fortinet products. It also integrates very well with the firewall and sandboxing technology. They already have enough integration with different technologies. They have got a complete tech intelligence view of the whole product."
"I did not face any issues with stability while using the tool's trial version."
"The user interface and the ease of use are pretty good. Everything fits together so nicely."
"It helps us better control internal and external communications."
"I have found the most valuable features of Kerio Control to be the IPS and firewall."
"We also like the security. We can control what sites users can go to and we can make sure that where they're going is appropriate and that it's work-related."
"What I like the most about Kerio is that I can use the software appliance as a solution, so if the hardware fails for any reason then I can quickly replace it with hardware that I have in stock."
"The initial setup is a breeze."
"The firewall and the content filtering options are valuable."
"The memory use in each of the appliances is problematic."
"It can be better with web application firewalls."
"Integration and learning about attacks. I would improve these areas by making FortiWeb integrate with other network technologies and feedback from multiple platforms."
"It costs too much."
"Their support needs improvement."
"The initial setup in our data center was somewhat complex."
"A user interface or dashboard for troubleshooting is needed."
"FortiWeb needs to have support for the newest technology being used in web applications."
"I would like it if the interface section had multiple failovers. Although I do have three connections, just in case our physical cables get disconnected, I can only set up one failover as a backup. So, if for some reason our fiber and our AFM went down together, I would have to have it search for our 4G modem. I'd love to have extra backups running."
"I can no longer renew my subscription directly with GFI but we have to go through third-party resellers like CDW. The first time I did it with CDW. I went to CDW and it was almost like they didn't even know anything. They didn't know what package I was supposed to get. Then after I got it, it took almost five days to get everything working."
"The filtering on the unlicensed version of Kerio Control is inefficient - you have to add each website manually, which isn't feasible."
"The product's technical support is not good as it used to be."
"Support responses need improvement."
"The security part of the software, like virus scanning, website, traffic monitoring, things like that, can take a beating on the appliance. And when there's a lot of things going on, the system can get bogged down. The actual security functionality of it needs a little bit more work, which I believe they are remedying or attempting to remedy at this time, but that's the downfall at this time."
"Kerio Control has just improved on their biggest problem, which was to introduce better support for high-availability requirements in production."
"There isn't a lot to be improved. It works well as it is, but they can maybe improve the reporting side."
