We performed a comparison between Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product helps us with privileged identity management to control who has access to what and for how long."
"The product’s most valuable feature is SQL database."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps is to stop shadow IT."
"Better logging allows us to find problems and take appropriate steps to lock them out."
"One of the most valuable features is auditing. Some of the other protection services have issues with auditing. Microsoft Defender for Cloud has an excellent auditing technique that helps us avoid the risk of filtering or information loss. You can use different tools to guarantee these things. It allows you to conduct an in-depth exploration of applications, users, and files that are harmful or suspicious. You can also enhance your security setup by creating personalized rules or policies that help you better control traffic in the cloud."
"The ability to prevent users from using certain applications is one of the most valuable features. It doesn't require any configuration for implementation from the client perspective. It just works right away and gives you the information you need."
"The general usability of the solution is very straightforward."
"The most valuable feature is the seamless integration across different clouds."
"The most important and the most relevant features of Defender for Endpoint are the malware and ransomware protection."
"It's one of the best antiviruses on the market."
"Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is extremely stable."
"The most valuable features are that it's easy to use and the updates are very simple."
"What I like most is the protection against phishing emails and anti-spam."
"This is not an inventory solution, but it helps you take count of how many workstations you have, as well as what software is installed on each of them."
"We can run the virus scan across our entire environment."
"The solution has good performance, I have not seen a problem."
"In the future, I would like to see more plug-and-play capabilities that use AI to tell you what needs to be done. It would be helpful if it scanned our devices and made security suggestions, on a configuration basis."
"They should continue integration with all other Microsoft security-related products. The integration with all the other products is still ongoing."
"This service would be better if it had a separate license, only for this service, that could be used to track usage."
"Currently, reporting is not very straightforward and it needs to be enhanced. Specific reports are not included and you need to run a query, drill down, and then export it and share it. I would love to have reports with more fine-tuning or granularity, and more predefined reports."
"We would like to get more information from the endpoint. I don't get enough detailed information right now on why something failed. There is not enough visibility."
"I believe it's only set to be integrated with Microsoft Defender for identity and identity protection. I would like to see it available for use with something like Office 365 Defender. I don't think it's integrated with that yet."
"We sometimes get errors when we create policies, which is somewhat annoying because some policies stop working due to misconfigurations. We find this challenging because it limits our options for troubleshooting an issue."
"Generally, the pricing can always be improved along with the management system."
"The solution could use improvement on the interface."
"Windows Firewall is integrated with Windows Defender. Over the last few days, I have had a problem with defining a wildcard on Windows Firewall. For example, I wanted to pull out the connection of my program and install a software package with a lot of executable files. I wanted to prevent it from accessing the internet. I could not select executables by using a wildcard. I had to select a single executable with its full name."
"There is a lot of information to take in, and the portals tend to change quickly due to the fast-paced nature of the industry."
"More integration with different platforms is an area for improvement for this product, and should be included in its next release."
"In terms of improvement, they update the platform it seems quite a bit. Every month something is in a new spot or something changed somewhere. There should be less of that."
"The scanning is slow when it is working with incoming emails."
"It's not quite a mature solution just yet. It needs more time to grow and develop."
"It is not very scalable from the eyes of an MSP because there is no dashboard that you can use to see all of your devices that have Windows Defender unless you have your own dashboard or an RMM tool to actually look at it. So, you might not get to know that a particular computer of a client is doing something, and it might have got a virus. That person might know that, but unless you set it up to actually send you the information, you won't get to know that. That's one of the things that is hard with Microsoft Defender. It is not made for the MSP world where you have one pane of glass to see all of your clients with Microsoft Defender on it unless your RMM tool already has that built-in and it can see the telemetry from Microsoft Defender."
