Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is flexible and cost-effective.""Supply Chain Management is an excellent feature.""The production is a valuable feature.""Almost all of the features that we use are efficient. Live master planning successfully handles all of our company's requirements.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics AX is that it fulfills our requirements. We haven't had any issues with performance.""The response time of the solution is very good.""The stability is very good.""There's a moderate amount of scalability available."

More Microsoft Dynamics AX Pros →

"S/4HANA falls under a single terminal. We can easily access the data, and the performance is good.""A user-friendly UI with good documentation.""I find the Production Planning Cockpit (PPC) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) most valuable modules.""S/4HANA is so much faster today than it was before. High performance is one of the best features, but the backbone of S/4HANA is its integration capabilities. They've also shifted to a focus on user experience.""The scalability has been good.""One of the most valuable features, which we used the most, was the FI module, for finance. It involved controlling, account receivables, account payables, and complete financial steering.""I like the user experience and usability of SAP Fiori, which is one of the main features that we are using.""I have found the most valuable feature to be the SAP Fiori application."

More SAP S/4HANA Pros →

Cons
"The UI has room for improvement and can be more user-friendly.""The manufacturing module in GP is quite basic, and those who require more advanced manufacturing capabilities often turn to third-party modules or tools.""The database requires a huge CPU and memory resources.""There are so many errors.""The product needs better admin control. There is room for improvement in flexibility, reporting, and dashboards. Artificial intelligence should be incorporated. I have concerns regarding partners, specifically in the implementation and deployment of Microsoft Dynamics.""The general speed of the solution needs improvement.""There should be the capability for users to enhance the application by using a low-code or no-code product from the Microsoft family.""The older version of Microsoft Dynamics AX that we are using is not as scalable as the newer version."

More Microsoft Dynamics AX Cons →

"If S4HANA has more AI and machine learning, it will be better and easier for reporting and dashboarding.""We are always looking for a better user experience. We would like to see more consolidation in SAP S4HANA because of all the financial compliance and regulatory changes.""The common issues being raised right now by the end users are mostly related to the usability.""Their yearly licensing is expensive. Improvements are needed on the user experience level and digital work.""The customer service and support are average. There is room for improvement in response time.""The difficulty level of the initial setup depends on the person's skills. If you know the basic knowledge of the database, then it will be easy, otherwise, it will be very difficult.""The procure-to-pay solution in the Contract Management angle could be better. If you look at it on Ariba, the Contract Management Life Cycle for Ariba is more robust. You can create documentation, SLAs, and NDAs. Apart from the procurement aspect of the contract, you have the legal side, but Ariba cannot do that. From what I've seen, the features of the procure-to-pay model in S/4HANA and their Contract Life Cycle Management side primarily focus on the procurement side. I believe it would be good if this solution could handle a part of the legal side. They will incorporate Extended Warehouse Management and Transportation Management into the S/4HANA cloud. Most big companies that use a solution like S/4HANA have a legal department within the organization. Suppose they can incorporate that to be in S/4HANA suites; I think it'll be good. It will be just like what we have with Transportation Management and Extended Warehouse Management. The user interface could be better. They have too much information on the interface, and our customers still keep complaining that it looks complex. Even though many things have changed, they still complain that the interface or the screen they see is a bit complex. It's only when they see the Fiori interface that their mind becomes a bit calm.""This solution works with the configuration, if the prerequisites are very clear and can be configured it works perfectly. If you need to simulate something, as a predictive tool this kind of simulation is not very accurate and it has limitations. This is something that could improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Go for cloud implementation, if cost is critical."
  • "One client was looking at a $5M SAP proposal and we got AX in just under $2M, and they were very happy with it as they have several sister companies that face $500K SAP upgrades/maintenance seemingly annually."
  • "The pricing is expensive."
  • "It's too expensive for customers to take this on themselves. As partners, we will buy this on behalf of the customers and then charge this value for each project."
  • "It is $180 to $200 per user per month with a minimum of 20 users, which makes selling the product a bit difficult."
  • "I don't know how much this solution costs off the top of my head, but I know that the cloud and SaaS solutions are cheaper."
  • "It has a pay-as-you-go subscription."
  • "The initial investment cost goes up due to the hidden cost."

  • "It is an expensive solution."
  • "The price of this product is an issue for some customers."
  • "I have found the price of the solution is on the medium to the expensive side of the scale. There is a license for this solution and there are additional maintenance fees."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "We're not sure yet. I think it was six figures a year, over 100,000. It has straight-up licensing fees."
  • "Licensing works on a subscription model for the cloud version and it's a one-time fee for the on-premises version."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable but some modules can be expensive. When comparing SAP S4HANA to other solutions, such as Oracle, it is not expensive."
