Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained.""The most valuable features of this solution are that I can by just one click, copy and paste anything that I would want. I do not have to restore the whole virtual machine.""This product is extremely user-friendly and it is capable of performing large-scale archive/backup (five+ years worth). It is easy to store, maintain, and check backups.""We are satisfied with Arcserve UDP. The most important feature that we use and why we choose this product is the RHA feature.""The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging.""The data protection functionality is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The backup is the most valuable feature. It also makes storage very easy.""The recovery part of the product is very good."

"We use it for complete backup and recovery. We have multiple clients and have created multiple large virtual capabilities and zoning backlogs.""It backs up our Windows systems and our Linux systems and everything.""IDPA's best feature is Turbo Boost Technology. The compression and duplication features are excellent, too.""We don't need to manage different devices.""The solution is strong.""The product is integrated with Huawei software and its backup and recovery time is very fast.""Dell PowerProtect is stable and scalable.""The product is easy to troubleshoot and store data."

Cons
"The product is not user-friendly.""Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly.""The tool doesn't provide cloud integration in India.""The initial setup was complex.""We are looking at scaling up to the cloud and using immutable copies on the cloud. Arcserve UDP 8.0 does have the immutable feature supporting AWS, but I'm looking for multi-cloud support. So, I'm waiting for Arcserve to release that in the next release.""Licensing can be quite difficult.""Based on my experience, whenever we need support, there are difficulties with communication when trying to resolve the issue.""Its interface can be improved. I find it unintuitive."

"The price could be lowered slightly, to make it more competitive.""We would like to see the pricing drop a bit.""The product's index master feature needs improvement.""The solution's implementation was very complicated and could be improved.""The solution should be easier to use.""Managing the product is a little bit complicated.""There is room for improvement in terms of network connectivity.""I would like to see integration with Dell EMC's Cloud Tier."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I do not work with the pricing or licensing issues of the solution for our organization."
  • "We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
  • "Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options."
  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."
