We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It made it easy for us to handle the daily backup of endpoints.""We have seen ROI. The real return is when something bad happens. All the proof of concept work that we did, all the testing we did, it all panned out for us. We're already seeing a return on that.""I can choose a point in time and issue the command to back up and I don't need to go in and restore the last full backup and then apply iteratively, sequentially, all the incrementals... I can pick a point in time and tell it I want to go to that state and it's transparent to me. It happens in the background for me.""The best part of BDRSuite is how user-friendly it is and how it does not require any maintenance after the initial setup.""The main difference I see between Vembu and the other solutions we've tried is that with Vembu, you don't need anybody to tell you what to do. Once you have done the installation you just look at the user interface — it's very friendly — and you can do things yourself without resorting to help from anybody.""It has improved our business continuity.""The initial setup is easy and very nice.""The scalability is good. It can scale. Adding a new server to a foreign location is easy."

"The initial setup is very easy. It's not overly complex.""Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions""MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface.""The solution is simple to use and easy to configure.""The UI is pretty good. It's very simple. That is one thing that we like about this. It's very user-friendly.""It has allowed me to implement a cost effective, highly configurable solution.""Technical support is very good.""The most valuable feature of MSP360 Backup is its reliability."

Cons
"I have seen that the BDRSuite user interface can be less intuitive and more challenging to navigate compared to other similar products.""I would like to have a different set of products instead of having a single software which does everything.""The initial setup process can be more simplistic and quicker.""The deduplication could be better. It doesn't give the level of deduplication that I would get with a product that's stored in a more standard file format. I would prefer to be able to use a non-deduplicated store on a third-party deduplicated medium.""I saw that it's not possible to have the last full backup duplicated on our site. Therefore, if I have a lot of information on the main site, I would not want to copy any information to those site servers. It would be nice to be able to make a copy of the last full backup.""In the beginning, when we had some hiccups, I would chalk that up more to a learning curve for the product.""Maybe they can add some features regarding working with the vCenter cluster to be able to have more power over the cluster overall, not just over a single or specific host. Also, I would like some enhancements in technology for the web interface, e.g., some interactive technologies to advance the interface of Vembu. Although the current interface is very good, maybe they can use more advanced technologies for its web development.""There are some limitation in Vembu that can be improved. When you take the backup from any server, the full incremental backup is limited. For example, if you run a weekly full backup and monthly backup, they cannot be run at the same time. I should not have to create a new job, but in this scenario, I am creating two jobs. The limitation is created because if I select monthly backup, then I cannot select weekly backup."

More BDRSuite Cons →

"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated.""As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing."""Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service.""The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable.""The product could be more user-friendly.""The restore time could improve. When we had an issue the restore time was lengthy.""The interface feels like it is targeted for end users who typically are looking for an all-in-one integrated push button solution. It would be better if the interface had a beginner mode and an expert mode.""There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The product's pricing is a good value. Vembu is cost-effective versus using VMware Essentials. Regarding licensing, make sure you find the right workstation or server that you're going to install it on, and know the number of sockets it has, since the price depends on that."
  • "It is very cost efficient, effective. I’d say it's one-third the cost of Veritas when compared to the server backups. I even tried image backups on Acronis, but Acronis is very expensive. So these are some of the key reasons why I opted for it."
  • "We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
  • "The pricing structure is in line with other solutions. However, the option to replicate offsite to a unit at another office or at home is a big cost benefit. Instead of paying monthly for cloud storage, you replicate offsite for free."
  • "Pricing is fair enough. What was not clear enough in the documentation on the website was that that you're licensing per CPU socket and you are only licensing on the restore sockets, not the backup sockets. It's a bit technical, but it was very well explained during the demonstration that we had during the evaluation period."
  • "I prefer the way Vembu is licensed. When you look at Veeam or any other product, they price per node. Vembu is licensed per host. You just buy a host license and it backs up unlimited VMs within that host. The others charge per VM."
  • "Vembu is too expensive because they don't really have small-business pricing. This is a matter of personal opinion. They're going to tell you that they have competitive pricing because there are more expensive solutions in the marketplace, but there are better solutions in the marketplace that are more expensive. Their product is a better fit for small businesses, but they don't price it that way."
  • "The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."

  • "It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
  • "We have a very good return on investment."
  • "Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
  • "It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
  • "MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
  • "I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
