We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The privileged access management into sensitive systems is very valuable. That includes control from the endpoint all the way through to the managing of passwords and credentials that are used by the person to access the sensitive information. It's very useful, because nobody ever really maintains passwords for those endpoint systems. It's maintained in the Dropbox password file.""One of the valuable features is the absence of any local user in a unique system. All users are defined in the AD; communication is only between Unix and AD.""The solution's technical support is good.""The features related to application elevate is amazing. It helped the company to remove almost all admin local users.""The tool is easy to use and deploy. It has PAM capabilities like privilege access. The solution helps with the management of third parties and vendors. It is an effective solution compared to other alternatives.""The implementation is quite easy because the documents are always online.""The privileged access and the application control are helpful in making sure we have good, robust challenge responses. Blacklisting with trusted application protection is also beneficial for us.""I find the solution’s features like section management, password management, and analytics valuable."

"The detection and response console is the most valuable feature.""I have found the connection to search the hosts for detections very useful in CrowdStrike Falcon.""I like the vulnerability assessment and proactive hunting features of CrowdStrike Falcon.""The most valuable feature is its threat analysis.""The feature that I find to be the most valuable, is being able to look at the system analysis and being able to baseline what is installed on the system.""There's almost no maintenance required. It's very low if there's any at all.""The stability is very good.""CrowdStrike Falcon is a very light solution. It does not use too much processor or RAM."

Cons
"Its feature for establishing workflows needs improvement.""There are three types of endpoints. If we need to use them in the solution, then we need to purchase the licenses separately. The tool needs to improve its licensing.""Reporting analytics is one of the areas that can be improved. It is a new cloud-based solution. So, many more specific reports can come out natively. Currently, we get all the events, and we put them in plug-ins. From there, we generate our own design of reports. If there is a much more solid or robust reporting analytics framework within the product itself, it would be helpful.""The other area to improve is that they rely on MS SQL servers only. You cannot have any other database behind them. They have to be on MS SQL. If they can do something about these issues, this would be a better alternative for some customers.""The program updates are very rare and the frequency is too far apart to take care of bug fixes and adding the latest features.""A valuable enhancement could be the capability to deploy agents directly through the console.""Reports to the end user.""How the accounts are presented in the solution's UI can be improved."

More BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management Cons →

"They respond quickly on the weekdays, but the weekend response times are slower.""The dashboard does not have the facility to export the reports in a PDF format, which I can quickly share with internal stakeholders.""Whenever there is a feature release (upgrade) where we push to all the endpoints, it causes something to be blocked without us knowing.""This solution is relatively expensive.""CrowdStrike Falcon could improve if it became an XDR. When we look only to an end-point, we lost the context of the environment. I know it's another line of design of the product. However, if CrowdStrike becomes an XDR, it could be very good.""In terms of features, I would like them to add detailed logging functionality in CrowdStrike. Currently, CrowdStrike detects the threats immediately based on the IOCs and the signature-based policies or many threat behaviors, but in terms of logging those threats, it is not very good. The information that they provide in the logs is very little. They can build more analytics into it.""Support, particularly related to after-sales and after deployment, could be improved a bit. If you need to connect to support, it takes at least a day to reach the support team and get a proper reply.""The performance could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'm sure everyone should have the cluster environment, which means more expensive, anyway, cheaper than the other solutions."
  • "PowerBroker for a Mac client is three times the price of the Windows version."
  • "What BeyondTrust was providing was user-based licensing which was a great benefit from the client point of view. Recently, I don't know why, the licensing model has been changed, and that is the reason that they have lost a bit of their edge when it comes to the PAM, against our competition. The asset-based licensing, from the user's point of view, is not beneficial. The licensing should be based on the users. The greater the number of users, the greater will be the load and the greater the scalability problems. I presume that is why the licensing model has changed."
  • "This solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
  • "Price-wise, it is very competitive. In our area, government entities and banks don't go for the monthly payment. It is a headache even for us in terms of finance and procurement to go for monthly payments. Quarterly might be more logical and reasonable, but the minimum that we go for is one year, and sometimes, we even try to compile and give one offering for three years."
  • "Its pricing and licensing are okay. We were in the perpetual model when it was on-prem, and now, with the SaaS service, we have a subscription model. As a customer, I would always like to see a lower price, but it seems to be priced at the right model currently, and we are trying to get the maximum benefits out of it."
  • "The product’s licensing is different for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The tool’s licensing is yearly."
  • "It was very expensive."

  • "The pricing will depend upon your volume of usage."
  • "I would like them to further reduce the price, because it is quite pricey at the moment."
  • "Purchasing the product through the AWS Marketplace is just a click away. Since we were using the on-premise version of the product, we continued on the cloud by purchasing it through the AWS Marketplace."
  • "I do not have experience with the cost or licensing of the product."
  • "The other administrator and I can log in to check the exact details of what happened, what was running, and what caused the detection. We know exactly what was happening on the end users PC and we can tell if it's something that we actually need or something that's malicious."
  • "We are at about $60,000 per year."
  • "This solution has a very competitive price."
  • "Our company pays approximately US$ 65,000 annually for 900 machines."
