We performed a comparison between Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks and Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features."
"The stability is very good."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks."
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The stability of the solution is very good. We have about 100 users on it right now, and we use it twice a week."
"It is easy to use."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks should be a stable solution."
"The product's most valuable features are massive user and feature intelligence exploit detection."
"It blocks malicious files. It prevents attacks. It doesn't require many updates, it's a very light application."
"From a single pane of glass, you can easily manage all of your endpoints."
"The initial setup is pretty easy."
"The most valuable feature of Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response is its ability to conduct large scans on the endpoints without affecting the network."
"The security is good."
"I have had absolutely no problem with using this solution, it really works well."
"The solution can scale well."
"The solution is scalable."
"The solution has great blocking features."
"The most valuable features of the solution are that it is easy to use and has good support."
"The most valuable features of this product include network isolation for machines and the ability to work with a consistent and defined set of virtual machines."
"Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later."
"The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection."
"The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The solution is not user-friendly."
"Being able to filter the events to see those that are related to the actual alert would save time spent by the engineer."
"There are a large number of false positives."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"Technology evolves every day, so it would be nice if it gets more secure. It can also have more integration with other platforms."
"The licensing model is complex to understand. It requires expertise to explain how the licensing works. You need expertise to guide you through the subscription plan."
"I would like to see some additional features related to email protection included."
"We would also like to have advanced tech protection and email scanning."
"There are some default policies which sometimes affect our applications and cause them to run around. In the hotel industry, we use a different type of data versus Oracle and SQL. By default, there are some policies which stop us from running properly. Because of this, the support level is also not that strong. We have to wait to get a results."
"That's why I wouldn't recommend it for other systems. It works only with SAP clients. That's why I'm giving it a six. It would get higher if it worked on all networks without the help of SAP."
"The product doesn’t offer MDM functionality under its current licensing model."
"I think we have experienced some technical issues because the company focuses mainly on bigger clients. Also, sometimes the solution fails to detect zero-day attacks, so that feature needs some enhancement because it is lacking compared to other solutions."
"They do need to minimize the number of agents installed on a server."
"The Symantec portfolio is not big enough to cover the organization in all 360 degrees."
"In the future, it would be nice to have playbooks in the tool, to allow for some of the common activities to be automated. For example, some of the scannings of the malware can be too manual for a specific device. Additionally, a vulnerability manager would be beneficial."
"The solution can always be more stable and more secure."
"The interface has many issues."
