We performed a comparison between Datto Cloud Continuity and Rubrik based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Backup solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"The recovery time objective and recovery point objective were most valuable. It was easy to use, and it was easy to recover a file. I was the head of sales and a product evaluator for an MSSP, so I never had to deal with recovery from ransomware. However, I was confident that if ransomware had occurred, I would only lose a maximum of 59 minutes of data. The files were encrypted."
"The platform provides a faster backup process."
"The solution's reliability is one of its most valuable features...It is a very stable solution."
"Datto has strong competition, but they succeeded in linking their service to the device. It's easy for managed service providers to sell and upsell products using their portal and the remote monitoring and maintenance."
"The solution has the capability to scale well."
"A reduced infrastructure complexity and fast to rack and go."
"The ease of use is the most valuable feature. It is a very simple system compared to just about any other back up technology. It is extremely easy to use and very versatile."
"Takes me 80 percent less time to manage my backup environment."
"The file search feature across all backups has been helpful."
"They have a great PowerShell module and easy mediums to speak to the people who create and enhance them."
"The main benefit is that we are secured in terms of workloads. We know that if we need to restore any VMs, or even any files inside a VM, that we will succeed 100 percent. This means that we don't need to spend much time administering the backup environment because we know it is self-healing and efficient. So, we are spending that time on something else, which is always a plus."
"Replaces legacy tapes and disk backups which are unreliable, expensive and space consuming."
"The web interface is user-friendly, clean, and it provides a good summary of what you're protecting at a glance."
"The product's scalability features could be even better."
"At the time I was using it, I would've focused more on signatures of malicious software in the cloud. I love Datto, and I know they're on the right path, but I probably would've focused more on the operating system update management. When you go from the desk to the cloud or from the server room to the cloud, everything changes. Everything is different. You're not in control of your servers anymore. It is from the Active Directory management perspective and not from the perspective of zero-day attacks or other similar things. At the time, more focus on zero-day attacks and business email compromise (BEC) would've been a better protection factor than just educating about how many of these attacks have occurred."
"Datto's only shortcoming is RMM. They have a portal-based connection service like ConnectWise, but it does backups and keeps things running. Datto purchased Backupify and Kaseya bought Datto. If they upped the ante in their RMM, I could see them dominating the MSP space. At the end of the day, MSPs are responsible for networks, software, devices, and backup. Datto covers all these functions so they could offer a turnkey MSP solution."
"They are now providing the device instead of selling it, while wanting their users to sign a three-year contract, and this is something which my clients don't like...I dislike the fact that signing a three-year contract is required."
"The fact that Datto Cloud Continuity is not cheap is one of the aspects that I don't like about the product, making it an area where improvements are required."
"I don't have any feedback to provide in terms of features that may be lacking."
"The functionality is missing, but they are very receptive to our thoughts and ideas."
"If I could take a snapshot from a physical and be able to stand it up as a virtual immediately without the need to rebuild an entire system and restoring files, that would be HUGE."
"The only thing that can be improved is catering for open source databases because at the moment it doesn't cater for Mongo, MySQL, and Postgres."
"There could be better reporting and better filtering."
"The Office 365 protection could be improved."
"The main pain points we experienced was the stability of the system. We received a lot of instability when we have upgraded from a certain version to a new version. The newer version was completely filled with bugs and we needed to purge the system every week until we update to a newer version that was available one year later. The stability of the code is the main problem, they need to make it better."
"There is room for improvement in pricing. After the licensing, the price tends to go up as time goes by."
"It does not offer image-level backups for Hyper-V 2012."
