Cons
"My customer was interested in ransomware protection. Currently, Dell offers the Cyber Vault solution, which is separate from Data Domain. Ideally, ransomware protection would be integrated directly within DD Boost, without requiring an additional out-of-the-box solution. This feature is currently available with HPE's Zerto and Huawei's Ocean Protect with third-party products like PradoNet. While Cyber Vault exists as a separate solution from Data Domain, having some standard protection for immutable backups into DD Boost would be a valuable addition and make it more competitive with other vendors.""There are some limitations where you cannot use it as a shared server or as a file server, it is limited for the only backup.""The solution needs to be more user-friendly for the end-users.""The solution could always be cheaper.""The main issue I've identified is that when backing up a final backup from the branch server, we don't have deduplication functionality.""The product has low capacity.""DD Boost needs to improve its interface. It should be easier to use.""It would be good if the product could be useful not just for general backup. Its pricing is also expensive, and it can be a difficult application, particularly when you need to write a script for anything you would like to do."

More DD Boost Cons →

"PPDM requires further development. It is primarily integrated with DevOps systems.""The interface is too complex.""You need to use additional software to back up entire environments. It will be good if they could support entire tape libraries.""As a new product, there are some things that still need to improve a bit as it matures.""A lot of improvement is required in Dell's first level of support.""The Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager reports could improve. There should be different kinds of reports on failures, such as dashboards that we can submit to top management or auditors.""Management is difficult and it is hard to determine when things aren't working properly.""There is always room for improvement. The compression ratio should be improved as well as the efficiency."
