"My customer was interested in ransomware protection. Currently, Dell offers the Cyber Vault solution, which is separate from Data Domain. Ideally, ransomware protection would be integrated directly within DD Boost, without requiring an additional out-of-the-box solution. This feature is currently available with HPE's Zerto and Huawei's Ocean Protect with third-party products like PradoNet. While Cyber Vault exists as a separate solution from Data Domain, having some standard protection for immutable backups into DD Boost would be a valuable addition and make it more competitive with other vendors."
"The solution could always be cheaper."
"The solution doesn't scale. If you hit your capacity, you need to buy a new device."
"If you are using it with Recovery Manager, there are certain limitations. If those limitations are addressed, productivity will improve."
"The solution must provide better deduplication."
"The main issue I've identified is that when backing up a final backup from the branch server, we don't have deduplication functionality."
"The solution needs to be more user-friendly for the end-users."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance could improve by having a site recovery feature."
"The product should provide more AI and ML features."
"It would be a better solution if we were able to make more reports in regards to the backup system."
"The installation is cumbersome."
"They could improve the interface a bit."
"The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic."
"This solution has to have better integration with the cloud, as well as with other solutions such as Business Intelligence products."
"More licensing options could be introduced to the software. It is currently based on capacity only. Compared to competitors, it is difficult to position it economically everywhere. From the usability point of view, they are making many improvements on new interfaces, the SaaS offering, etc."
