We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The orchestration, building the release, and then just executing it and managing that pipeline — the orchestration capabilities are great for that.""The solution can apply one template across multiple applications.""The time is also reduced because the manual work has tremendously decreased. We just have to click one button, and it will create everything for us.""The most valuable feature of Digital.ai Release is its ability to communicate with various deployment systems, such as XLD and batch deployments, as well as integrate with tools, such as Flyway and Bamboo. We use Bamboo as our build orchestrator, and Digital.ai Release also integrates with Jira, another Atlassian solution. These capabilities make it a powerful tool for managing workflow, test automation, and other processes."

"The most valuable functionality of GitLab, for me, is the DevOps. Besides the normal source control based on Git, I find the Auto DevOps features most important in the solution.""The scalability is good.""I like that you can use GitLab as a double-sided solution for both DevOps and version management. It's a good product for working in these two areas, and the user interface makes it easy to understand.""GitLab's best features are maintenance, branch integration, and development infrastructure.""GitLab is being used as a repository for our codebase and it is a one stop DevOps tool we use in our team.""Of all available products, it was the easiest to use and easy to install.""GitLab is kind of an image of GitHub, so it gives us the flexibility to monitor our changes in the repos.""As a developer, this solution is useful as a repository holder because most of the POC projects that we have are on GitLab."

Cons
"Digital.ai Release could improve by having a better plugin that works with Guardian that we use for mainframe migrations. If there could be an interface or plugin for Guardian that would be beneficial.""The solution is a little bit expensive.""Currently, we put artifact details manually. What we could improve, in our case, is the deployment instruction base. Developers input all the information, including which artifact and where it needs to be deployed. What Digital.ai could do is automatically go to the deployment instruction page, take those artifact details, and implement them.""The backfill could be improved, we could automate that. Right now it's subjective — it's up to the lead developer's memory to remember to backfill."

"I would like to see security increased in the future. A secure environment is very important.""I used Spring Cloud config and to connect that to GitLab was so hard.""GitLab doesn't have AWS integration. It would be better to have integration with other container management environments beyond Kubernetes. It has very good integration with Kubernetes, but it doesn't have good integration with, for example, AWS, ETS, etc.""The solution could improve by providing more integration into the CI/CD pipeline, an autocomplete search tool, and more supporting documentation.""GitLab could add a plugin to integrate with Kubernetes stuff.""GitLab would be improved with the addition of templates for deployment on local PCs.""It should be used by a larger number of people. They should raise awareness.""GitLab's UI could be improved."

  • "I think that we pay approximately $100 USD per month."
  • "The price is okay."
  • "It seems reasonable. Our IT team manages the licenses."
  • "Its price is fine. It is on the cheaper side and not expensive. You have to pay additionally for GitLab CI/CD minutes. Initially, we used the free version. When we ran out of GitLab minutes, we migrated to the paid version."
  • "It is very expensive. We can't bear it now, and we have to find another solution. We have a yearly subscription in which we can increase the number of licenses, but we have to pay at the end of the year."
  • "I don't mind the price because I use the free version."
  • "We are using its free version, and we are evaluating its Premium version. Its Ultimate version is very expensive."
